Author's Note: I'm blown away by the amazing reviews! Thankyou! I hope i don't disappoint!!
Lucius’ eyes narrowed as he saw the dark shadow pull its self hurriedly behind the wall. He might have known the ministry would try something half arsed to get rid of him. He flicked his long white-blond hair back over his shoulders and straightened his cloak, smirking unpleasantly.
“You might as well come out,” his cold voice clipped over the cold night, “We know you’re there. You can die on your feet like wizards, or on your knees like that hopeless mudblood in there.”
Severus grabbed Harry. The young wizard was starting forward at Lucius’ insults about his friend.
“Not yet. We need to spread out.”
Harry looked at him and nodded, then turned to the other Aurors and signalled for them to do as Severus said. The cloaked figures did so, looking like strange creatures huddling against the wall. Lucius was striding about the front porch, seemingly unworried by the threat of the Auror’s wands.
Severus realised he needed to be clever. Lucius had been expecting something and had warded the manor heavily. Draco had added his wards to his fathers and it was almost impenetrable without arousing the suspicions of everyone inside. There were several spells to take care of wards, but not ones as complicated as that. Severus knew that there was only one way to disable the wards, and that was to take care of them one by one. Severus didn’t know how many wizards were holed up in Malfoy Manor and he wasn’t sure he wanted to take the chance, but every second wasted was a second that Draco and Lucius could be doing something evil and horrific to Hermione. He pressed at his breast pocket to feel the lump of the ring that was safely held there.
Severus beckoned to Harry, who crawled over, a worried look on his face.
“Potter, we have to decide what we’re going to do.” Severus gestured towards the manor. “It could take all night to disable the wards, but if we storm the place we might be outnumbered. We don’t know how many there are.” Harry looked thoughtful. It was his friend after all, he hated to think what was being done to her. He looked at Ron, who was pointedly keeping his distance from their ex Potions Master, and sighed.
“We’ll go in, Professor. We’re all highly trained, we’ll take our chances.”
Harry just hoped that he was doing the right thing. Since the final battle people seemed to do as he said just because he was who he was.

Lucius looked out at the path and garden wall. It was too quiet. The ministry’s idiots were planning something. He turned on his heel and entered the manor, shouting for his son and the others. Bellatrix and Rodolphus came running downstairs, Crabbe and Goyle, Junior and Senior lumbered out of the kitchens and Draco ran up the stairs from the cellar. Lucius was confident. The wards would weaken them, Then they would reach the manor and be faced by the faithful few. Crabbe and Goyle Jr, both somewhat intellectually challenged, but good at doing what they were told. Crabbe and Goyle Sr, hardened Death Eaters, if not like their sons in many ways. The Lestranges, capable of cruelty beyond anything these ministry halfwits could possibly dream of. Draco, who had inherited his fathers bloodlust along with his looks. Lucius smiled.
“Bring it on, Mudbloods!” he screamed in a high keening voice.
----
“Ready, Professor?” Harry looked up at the older man. Severus stared straight ahead.
“Whenever you are.”
They surged forward, wands drawn, to be met by a volley of hexes and spells from the manor.
