Redemption & Beginnings

Chapter Thirteen – Redemption & Beginnings

Draco stopped at the door way of the restaurant and looked in. They were both in there, looking tense and watching the door. Hermione stopped and looked back at him.

“I’m not so sure about this,” he said taking a step back to hide behind the vine covered trellis and shielding himself from their view.

“Will you relax? It’s going to be fine. If you can face Molly Weasley, you can handle this,” she said rolling her eyes and grabbing his hand. He pulled out of her grasp. She looked into his eyes and he winced when he saw the hurt there.

“Draco, if you want me, you have to take them too. They are as much a part of me and Kuri as you are. It’s a whole package deal,” she said looking through the window where Ron and Harry were waiting for them.

“What will you do if they won’t accept me? You’ve chosen them over me before,” he said shoving his hands into his pockets and looking down at his feet. He felt her move close to him. He closed his eyes as her hand touched his cheek lightly and pulled his face downwards until her mouth was pressed against his. He sighed and snaked his arms around her waist, getting lost in the taste of her. He felt himself get hard and pushed his pelvis into her to let her know. Her arms curled around his neck and she pushed her whole body against him, deepening the kiss until they were both light headed and all thoughts about meeting her friends were lost. He pushed her back into the trellis and dropped one hand to grasp one cheek of her round buttocks. She moaned and moved one hand into his hair, whilst the other dipped beneath the collar of his shirt, stroking the skin at the base of his neck.

“Erm, Hermione,” Harry’s voice ended their kiss, but she didn’t pull away from his embrace. She was blushing slightly, but seemed relaxed enough about being caught out.

“Sorry, Harry, we’ll be there in a sec,” she said with a slight smile. Harry caught Draco’s eye and held his gaze. Draco couldn’t read the look there, but didn’t break the contact. Hermione looked between the two of them, and decided to just let them get whatever it was out of their systems.

“Hello Malfoy,” he said.

“Potter,” Draco said. Harry broke the stare first and looked back at Hermione.

“We’ll order a bottle of wine then, shall we?” he asked her.

“Lovely, thank you,” she replied before turning her attention back to Draco. He could hardly believe when she pressed her lips into his neck before Harry had even turned around. They was a flash of something in the green eyes of his old nemesis as their eyes met again but he shook it off and retreated before Draco could analyse what it had been that Potter had felt. His attention was quickly drawn back to the woman in his arms as she sucked his ear lobe into her warm mouth.

“Was that terribly wicked of me?” she asked giggling when Harry had closed the door behind him. He looked down at her in amazement.

“Just when I think I know everything about you and couldn’t possibly love you anymore, you do something like that and I fall for you all over again,” he said. She grinned and kissed him again, before she pulled away and pulled a compact out of her purse. She quickly fixed her hair and make up. He watched her awkwardly before hastily checking his own image in the window. His hair was slightly messed and his shirt was crooked around the collar. In the dim image he could also see the traces of lipstick around his mouth. He toyed with the idea of leaving them, but decided it would be better to keep the peace and fixed himself up.

He held the door open for her and she passed by him running her hand across his chest as she did. He felt his cock twitch again at the contact.

“Witch,” he muttered under his breath and she smirked at him before turning and heading towards her friends.

He watched as she greeted them both with kisses, feeling a twinge of jealousy at the thought of those lips touching another man before he crossed over to join them.

“Malfoy,” Ron greeted with a head nod. The greeting was not cold, nor was it cordial but it was better than Hermione had hoped for.

“Weasley,” Draco answered and held out a chair for Hermione. She rested her hand on his as she slung her purse over the back of the chair then sat. He took the seat next to her. The four of them sat in silence for a moment before the waiter brought the bottle Harry had ordered over to the table. Once he had poured, Hermione lifted her glass.

“To old friends, and new ones,” she said. The three boys exchanged glances before they all followed suit. The conversation was stunted and awkward, but all three of them were making an effort to be civil. Hermione realised that they were all on their best behavior because she was sitting with them. If they were to get anything out in the open, she needed to be absent.

After the main course had been devoured, she excused herself to go to the ladies room.

The three of them sat in silence for a moment.

“So, uh, I heard that you married Ginny Weasley, “Draco said to Harry.

“Yes, two years ago,” Harry said.

“And you were ok with that?” Draco said to Ron.

“Yes, Harry’s my best friend and one of the best people I know. Why wouldn’t I want my sister to be with someone great?” Ron said.

“I don’t have any siblings, but I’ve always noticed that older brothers are over protective of younger sister,” Draco said taking a sip of his wine. Harry shook his head.

“Malfoy, Hermione is like a sister to both of us,” Harry said, casting a glance in the direction she’d disappeared, “She says that you’ve changed and that she trusts you and for now, that’s good enough for us,”

“But if you hurt her, you’d better pray we don’t find you,” Ron said.

“I know,” he said taking another drink. Harry and Ron exchanged a glance, silently conferring something. Harry nodded and Ron pulled a black bound book out of his knapsack. He handed it to Draco.

“We’ve kept this, just in case you came back,” he said. Draco opened it and on the first page was a picture of a baby wrapped in a home knitted blue blanket. As he watched the baby yawned and opened his silver eyes just a peek. Draco looked up at the two men with disbelief. They smiled at each other and then at him. He looked back at the book, and turned the page. In this one a much younger Hermione lay back on a chair holding her son, with Harry and Ron on either side of her. The girl in the picture held up the child proudly, whist both Harry and Ron had looks of forced pleasure.

“Mione said that you weren’t sure about him to begin with” Draco said.

“Well, he was your son. You’ve got to admit if the shoe had been on the other foot, you’d have been the same,” Harry said leaning over to look at the picture with Draco.

“Probably,” Draco said flicking the page again.

In this one his tiny son was posing with a whole mob of red-hair Weasley’s. In another he was having kisses rained down of him by Ginny. Draco flicked on and watched as his son grew, watched him eating, laughing, playing and finally walking. It was everything he’d been feeling that he’d missed out on, perfectly recorded by two people that didn’t owe him anything. It was a gesture of true friendship, and Draco suddenly realised it was what he had been missing.

“How could you possibly know that I would need this?” he asked them.

“Consider it an apology for being complete idiots in school. We didn’t understand and we were selfish. We should never have asked Hermione to choose between us and you,” Harry said. Ron nodded and held out his hand. Draco took it and they shook on their truce. Before they could say anything else, Hermione joined them again. She looked delighted to see them shaking hands. She grinned at both her friends, her face reading her gratitude. Draco slid the book under the table. He wasn’t ready to share it just yet.

“So, shall we have desert?” she asked sitting back down and reaching over to take Draco’s hand. He gripped her fingers and met her gaze. She squeezed gently.

“Sounds good,” Ron said gesturing to the waiter.

Hermione drifted awake slowly. There was something telling her that she didn’t want to be awake but that she actually wanted to stay in this warm place forever. As consciousness gripped her however, she started to feel more than just warmth. There was a hot breath caressing the side of her face and a strong hand was holding onto her shoulder protectively.

After so many nights dreaming about being in Draco’s arms again and being disappointed once she woke, for a moment she just waited until the feeling faded and reality set in. When it didn’t, she nestled her face into the crook of his neck and sighed contentedly. His other hand snaked around and rested on her waist. She snuggled in closer to him, and he chuckled.

“Tickles,” he said groggily kissing the top of her head.

“Good morning,” she greeted softly running her hand across his chest and resting it in the middle.

“Morning. Shhhh.”

She made herself look over at the clock on the wall. 10am? She had to get Kuri from the Weasley’s. She moved to raise herself, but was yanked back down unceremoniously by her sleeping companion, and a muffled noise of objection came from him.

“Stop that,” she said laughing. He groaned in disappointment, but released his hold of her. She suddenly felt cold and wanted to be back in his embrace. Reluctantly, she stood and crossed to the dresser, picking up her hair brush and running it through the worse case of bed head she’d had in a long time. Her hair was never very well behaved, but after a night of rampant wild sex, it was impossible.

Draco dragged himself up and leant against the bed head, just watching her. The intense look of concentration on her face as she tried to tame her unruly hair reminded him of sitting near her in potions. It was the same look of determination to succeed that he was looking at now. His eyes trailed down her bare back. Gods, she was lovely. He saw some bruising on her hip, probably from their intense session of love-making when they had finally arrived home from the restaurant. He looked into the mirror and his eyes traced the curve of her breasts. His cock twitched and his breathing began to quicken. At the noise, the Hermione in the mirror caught his eye and one eyebrow rose questioningly. He smiled seductively and pushed the covers down so she could see what she was doing to him. A smile teased the corners of her mouth and she eyed her lover’s reflection. He grasped his throbbing member in his hand and started to pump it, his eyes not leaving the reflection of her face. He watched the eyes widen when she saw what he was doing. As he watched, her chest started to rise and fall quicker, and he saw the look of lust in her eye. She tore her eyes away from the mesmerising motion of his hand and looked deep into his eyes. They were full of desire and daring. She never backed down from a challenge. She raised her hands to her shoulders and massaged for a moment before looking back at him. Cock still firmly grasped in hand, he was watching the movement of her hands intently. She slid them down to rub her breasts, teasing the nipples a little and imagining it was him touching her. She moaned and her eyes fluttered shut. He had settled into a steady pace now and the passion she read in his eyes made her bold. She lowered one hand, running it along the outside of her body, letting it follow the natural curve, before dipping it between her legs and out of his sight. Now he could only imagine what was happening, but as her head fell back and she gasped out loud, he knew that she wasn’t faking it. He watched as her hand moved back and forwards and he matched the speed. The hand holding her breast continued to tease and tweak the erect peak. She opened her eyes again and fixed her gaze on his. They stared into each others eyes as their climaxes took them over, both of them crying out in pleasure. Her hand left her breast and she grabbed a hold of the dresser to stop herself from slumping to the floor, but she continued to watch him drain himself of every last drop, even as her body continued to shudder.

They stayed that way for what felt like forever, just staring at each other, while their breathing slowly returned to normal. When he felt his seed beginning to trail down to the mattress, he grabbed his wand off the night stand and uttered a quick cleansing spell. With that done, he motioned for her to come to him. She rose gracefully and crossed to the bed, sitting down beside him, facing him. He reached up a hand and cupped her cheek.

“I love you,” he said gazing into her eyes. She tried to look away as a blush stained her cheeks, but he made her look back.

“I’ve never met anyone who I just couldn’t get enough of, but every time I’m with you I just want more.”

She smiled softly and leaned in to brush the softest of kisses across his lips.

“Marry me, Hermione,” he said. Her eyes widened in surprise. He looked at her expectantly, awaiting her answer, but all she could do was stare. She’d dreamed of this moment for the past five years, and now that it had finally happened, she didn’t have the words. Her eyes welled with tears.

“Hey,” he said soothingly.

“Oh, I’m sorry for being so completely pathetic,” she sobbed. He laughed and pulled her to him, resting her head on his shoulder.

“Are you sure?” she cried into his shoulder.

“With more certainty than anything I’ve ever known anything,” he replied. She sat up and looked into his eyes looking for any sign of deception, just as she had by the lake all those years ago. Like that moment, she didn’t find it.

“Well, then my answer is yes, yes I’ll marry you,” she said claiming his lips again.

“I love you, Draco!”
