Summary: Hermione is due to start her seventh year at
Hogwarts. However, she has a little surprise for Harry and Ron, one that will
test their friendship.

Chapter 12: First Day Back

            For the
remainder of the summer Hermione stayed to herself and didn’t once sit foot on
the Hogwarts grounds. She didn’t have to worry about going hungry and now that
she was nearly two month’s along she was glad about it. Remus came by to check
on her and so did Mr. Weasley and his wife, but other then that, she was left
alone. And then one night she looked out the window and saw the carriages
taking students up to the school. She ran for her calendar and saw that it was
September 1^st. She felt a little sad that she wasn’t among them, but
she knew; deep inside, that she had done the right thing.

            Severus
didn’t attend the sorting for the first time since he had arrived to teach. It
just wasn’t the same without Hermione around. He missed his wife dearly, but
now that school was in session, he would have to stay away from her. He felt
like cursing the person that had come up with that stupid rule. He took a long
drink, ready for a night of getting dead drunk.

            The next
morning he woke up, showered, took a Headache Potion, and then headed to get
some breakfast. Harry and Ron were busy talking and suddenly he stopped when he
heard the word ‘baby.’

   “I swear I’m going
to kill her,” he hissed. “She got herself banged up with old Snape.”

   “I know, but I don’t
think it’s worth going to Azkaban for,” Harry said. “Nowday’s nothing is worth
going to Azkaban for.”

   “Correct Mr.
Potter,” Severus said. “But you still lose ten points from Gryffindor for your
friend’s comment.”

Ron glared at him, but he moved on.

            After
breakfast he had the second year Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff’s. He told them that
they would be working on a Transformation Solution and that he expected a
sample of the potion to be ready by the end of the class. He then sit back and
watched them at work. He only had three months left and he wasn’t going to put
anyone in detention. That would just make him have to stay here longer then he
wanted to.

   “So are you excited
about taking over as Potions Mistress?” Hermione asked Fleur, Bill’s wife.

Fleur nodded. She to was pregnant, but a lot longer then
Hermione was.

   “Well I’m sure the
students will enjoy having someone else instead of my husband.”

   “Ya, ze think that
they will,” Fleur said.

Hermione was surprised that she spoke English a lot better
then when she had seen her during the Triwizard Tournament.

   “So how long are
you going to keep this a secret?” Fleur asked.

   “Until he leaves
school,” Hermione said. “And then we’ll tell everyone.”

Fleur grinned at her.

   “I hope it goes
well.”

   “Thanks,” Hermione
said. “I really appreciate your words.”

When she had left the owls arrived
with her work. She saw that she must have had The Study of Ancient Runes,
Advance Charms, and Advance Arthmancy. She went over to the table and opened
her books, sitting to work at last.

Note: Sorry about this chapter being short, but I’m not
really feeling good and after a certain time my brother wants to get on. I’ll
see you tomorrow night.
