Changed forever

She had only been back at the castle two hours, yet Eileen already knew she had changed forever.

""""""""""Flash back""""""""""

Eileen had been back at Hogwarts ten minutes and she was sitting in her parents’ living room in the dungeons. Her mum and dad had gone to see the Head Mistress and explain what had happened.

There was a knock on the door and then Sirius, Lily, Savanah and another Gryffindor boy that tagged along with them, Alfie, entered.

They rushed over to Eileen and she hugged Lily and Savanah first. As Alfie came towards her, Eileen jumped up and went to the kitchen, shouting over her shoulder, "Does any one want a drink?"

When they all had drinks, Eileen sat on the sofa, the only space left. Lily sat at one end, then Sirius in the middle. Reluctantly, Eileen sat next to him. She pushed herself back into the arm of the sofa, pulling her knees up to her chest.

Alfie leaned over from a chair near where she was sitting, "We're really glad you're ok."

He reached over and put a hand on Eileen’s arm. She squeaked, pulling her arm away like she was burned. To cover up when they gave her funny looks, she shrugged, "I broke a rib. It still twinges a bit."

""""""""""End of flash back""""""""""

She had avoided any more physical contact with Sirius or Alfie and when they left, she had gone straight to her dormitory, not stopping to talk to any one, male or female.

The dormitory was full again; every one had come back from their holidays.

She crawled into bed and pulled the covers over her head, curling up in a ball.

The next day, classes started again. Breakfast was not terrible, except for when Terri, who was sitting next to Eileen, remembered she had left her Defense against the Dark Arts book back in the common room and left to get it. The seat she had vacated and the one the other side of it was filled by two fourth year boys. Eileen got up quickly and left the Hall for Defense against the Dark Arts.

She was the first person outside their classroom and Remus - or, in a professional environment, Professor Lupin - invited her in. Eileen shook her head, claiming that she wanted to talk to some one that should be walking along the corridor very soon. He smiled, nodded and went back to his office.

The lesson started and, as Eileen had known, they were studying Boggarts. The tables had been cleared to the side of the room and all that was left was the piece of furniture containing the creature, in the middle of the room.

Professor Lupin told them to get into a line, and they did. Eileen went to the back, behind Terri and Sirius. Eileen and Sirius had a free period after this class, so it didn't matter when the others had to rush off and they were the only two left to have their turn.

Some one knocked on the classroom door and Professor Lupin went outside to talk to them

Sirius went up to the Boggarts prison, saying, "Ladies first."

Eileen smiled in thanks and Sirius let the Boggart out. Any happy though Eileen might have been thinking was wiped away.

The sandy haired, sixth year boy walked forwards. Eileen was dimly aware of Sirius whispering encouragement, but she was frozen; the dark look in the boys’ eyes had turned her to stone.

She heard the sound of her wand hitting the stone floor. She heard her Professor reentering the room. She didn't hear her head crack on the ground.

""""""""""""""""""""

Sirius rushed over to Eileen, as his father sorted out the Boggart. He lifted her limp body into a sitting position.

"What happened?" His dad asked, as he put her on a table that he had changed into a bed.

Sirius shook his head, "I don't know. I let the Boggart out and it turned into that Slytherin -"

"I should have been here." the older man shook his head, "I should have known this would happen."

"Why was she so scared that she fainted?" Sirius asked.

"Sirius, you don't know what happened when she was with that kid." his father told him slowly, grabbing Eileen’s wand from the floor.

"She said he punched her a couple of times." Sirius said.

The Professor shook his head, "That's only what she said."

Sirius frowned. Why would Eileen lie? And what, if anything, had she lied about?
