12: Tell Me True

Chapter 12: Tell Me True

June 25th Late evening Astronomy Tower

Harry drinks from the bottle of cheap tequila he obtained from Bill Weasley. He stares at the sky. A sound startles him and he whirls around to see Remus Lupin grinning at him.

“Knut for your thoughts,” Remus asks.

“Trying not to think, right now,” admits Harry.

“Well, keep drinking that and you will accomplish your goal. Ginny told me where you were. She also mentioned you have put things “on hold” with her. Want to talk about it,” he wheedles sounding a bit concerned.

“No, not really.” Then Harry says, “You really didn’t know my mother, did you?”

“No, I suppose not, but who knows anything about anyone except what they want you to know. I mean there obviously was more to Severus than anyone knew,” confesses Remus.

“I was thinking about some things. If Snape was half muggle than my father and Sirus were the pureblooded bullies. They were no better than Lucuis Malfoy and the other Slytherins. I mean surely Sirus knew about Snape’s heritage?” muses Harry.

“I can’t answer that. I wonder why Dumbledore didn’t make more of an effort to stand up for Severus while he was at Hogwarts. I mean it would have done him a lot good socially to be known as the grandson of Albus Dumbledore. But no one is here to answer these questions but Minerva, and I think that it is unfair for her to have to answer them. I can say this however; as much as I loved Sirus I must admit he was a very angry young man. As for your father, well your mother brought out the best in him. I can see the possibility of her brining out the best in Severus, too. I can tell you personally that she deserves the high regard everyone shows her,” finshes Remus as he puts both of his hands on Harry’s shoulders.

“So he is Severus, now,” states Harry.

“Yes,” confirms Remus, “He is human and I think after all of this he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Isn’t that why you started this?”

“Yes, I suppose that I have allowed my resent to run away with me…do you think it was an act?” asks Harry.

“What was an act? His distemper and inability to deal with people, oh no, I think that was quite real. But as for how he felt about your mother, well perhaps you should ask him. You never have, have you?” asks Remus.

“No, our conversations where kept to the bear minimum. DETENTION. But it is a lot to think about right now,” mentions Harry as he downs more tequila.

“Well I was going to take you with me to get more Wolfsbane. If you are standing that is,” announces Remus.

“You know someone who can brew it other than Snape?” asks Harry in surprise.

“Absolutely, I have been living outside of good society for years. How do you think I have survived? There is a place of sanctuary called the OUBLIETTE. Two vampires own it. One is a former Malfoy and her mate is a former Weasley,” explains Remus.

“I bet family reunions are interesting,” retorts Harry and he grins ear to ear.

“Actually, both of them were disinherited when they became vampires. Their club also employs werewolves. Between the vampires and werewolves there is no violence allowed inside of the confines of the club,” continues Remus.

“How do they maintain order?” questions Harry.

“It’s a little complicated, but I can explain later. Do you want to go?” asks Remus.

“Sure, can Ron and Neville come,” asks Harry.

“I should think so. Are you ready to stop drinking that horrible stuff?” inquires Remus as he moves toward the stairs.

“I suppose…,” relents Harry. He puts the cap on the bottle and follows Remus down the stairs.
