Chapter 11- more memories

Snape hav having trouble sleeping, then again he couldn\'t remember the last time he had a full nights sleep. He got up pulled on his robes and began walking the halls. Unfortunately there were no students to catch wandering the halls, they wouldn\'t be here for another few weeks. Not even all the teachers were back. He almost never left, content to dwell in his dungeons rather than return home to talk of the ministry and leading questions concerning his \"life.\" That\'s how they would as res refer to him. \'How is your \"life\" Sev old boy\', \'Is your \"life\" OK\', \'So Severus how\'s \"life\" been treating you?\'. They didn\'t do it to purposefully annoy him. That was just an added bonus. They just couldn\'t understand how he had turned out so different. So he stayed in his miserable little dungeon, living his miserable little \"life\", and was perfectly ... happy, that way. Well, until he had seen her again. \'No it\'s not her, it\'s her daughter (it could\'ve been your daughter) Go away get out of my head.\' Snape was becoming more and mangrangry at everything. He stalked off up the stairs around the corner and found himself staring at the alcove where she had pulled him so many years ago. He felt the anger drain out of him as the memories began flooding back.
The next year, his fourth, he had finally come to grips with the fact that he was not going to be a traditional Snape. He had told his family to not worry about finding him a job with the Ministry or finding him a wife. He was going to lead his own life. They simply dismissed him convinced he would come around later. He went back to school with the intention of starting his own life, doing things to make himself happy. He didn\'t try out for the Quidditch team, he took double potions, and looked everywhere for Julienne. When he couldn\'t find her he would look for Lilly. His gut told him he was missing something. It wasn\'t until after Easter break that he overheard a conversation the teachers were having during a quidditch match.
\"I never see Julienne in class, yet she always turns in her work on time.\"
\"Yes and it\'s well done.\"
\"Dumbledore says for us to not worry about the fact that we can\'t see her.\"
\"That old coot get\'s crazier every year.\"
\"That Old Coot is right behind you Minerva.\"
\"Well Albus, it\'s true, how can we be expected to teach someone we can\'t see. It\'s ridiculous.\"
\"She has a natural cloaking ability. She likes to be left alone. If you want to find her focus on the one spot in your classroom that you always skip over, she\'ll be there. If she wants you to see her you will. It\'s that simple.\"
Snape blanched, \'So all this time she hasn\'t wanted me to find her.\' The realization was the slap that he had been expecting last year after the kiss. He had gone to far. Now she had become invisible to everyone. He got up and left the game. \'I should apologize, or do something.\' Then his pride took over and he showed the part of him that would take over later. \'No, damn her, she should have said something. I refuse to apologize. I do not need her, I\'ll just find someone else to be interested in. Fine it\'s settled, no more dwelling on her.\' He had convinced himself for the time being. He immediately went to Guenevere Lonstold and ask her to the spring formal.
Big Mistake! For the next two years she followed him around like a puppy, never leaving him alone, always underfoot. She even changed her concentration to potions. She was horrible at potions! He was cruel to her on a daily basis perfecting the art that he would use later in life as a teacher. Still she hung around. He asked other girls out, she didn\'t mind. No matter what he did she wouldn\'t go away. Then to top it all off...
\"Severus, we know this is a little, early ... but, we have decided that you and Guenevere make such a lovely couple that she shall be your wife.\" Severus wanted to scream. He could not get away from this girl no matter what he did, oh he would find a way out of this. He promised himself.
It was the train ride to Hogwarts for his sixth year. Guinevere hung on his arm, proudly showing everyone her ring. They were congratulated and hugged and all Snape could do was desperately try to get out of it. He heard on the train that Julienne and Sirius Black were very serious. Julienne had stopped hiding herself two years ago. Snape assumed it was because he was \"taken.\" They never really spoke unless she was being down right mean to him. The term mud-blood was thrown around a lot when Snape met up with Lilly and Julienne, he never meant it, but he didn\'t think they knew it. He really disliked James and Sirius, especially Sirius. School had been in for about a week. He was so sick of Guenevere he would do anything to get away from her.
It was a warm quiet night. Severus had feigned sickness and got away from Guenevere easily enough. She had no desire to get sick. He decided it would be a nice night for a stroll and headed outside. He could hear merriment coming from the lake and decided to investigate. Down below on the water splashing like two little kids were Lilly and Julienne, alone, no boyfriends. His first impulse was to join them.
Then he considered going down there, he had seriously pissed off Lilly the year before during OWLS. Julienne wasn\'t far behind when he opened his big mouth. Really he hadn\'t meant it, but he was so angry at being humiliated he took it out on her. Hopefully they wouldn\'t still be holding it against him.
He was feeling a little mischievous and decided to sneak up on them. Once he was at the waters edge he stood up to yell. Only to find they were no longer in the water. The next thing he remembered was hitting the water. The girls had beat him at his own game. Once in the water the girls jumped in and began stripping his clothes off. He was unable to do anything but try to get air. They would only let him up for a second, then pull him down again. Finally they stopped, and he realized why. He was now completely naked and they were treading water only a few feet away from him, grinning ear to ear.
He could feel his face growing red with anger and embarrassment. Before he could speak Julienne cut him off.
\"This is a naked swim party, your not invited unless your naked.\" She was still grinning. \"I\'m sure the giant squid will give you back your clothes if you ask nicely.\"
Severus looked around realizing that they were both naked as well. \"Why don\'t you get my clothes back for me?\" In a flash he had swam on top of her and was pushing her under the water.
\"Hey get off my friend.\" Lilly shouted through her laughs. She began pushing Snape under the water as well. They played naked in the water like little kids pushing each other under and splashing. It was a shock that they didn\'t wake ne. ne.
Snape stood staring at the lake laughing to himself about that night. He didn\'t even remember how he got back to his room that night. He definitely never asked the giant squid for his clothes back.


Snape looked around and he saw... something. It was a small shape moving along the edge of the forbidden forest. It looked directly at him and the moonlight illuminated it\'s face. Absinthe! She darted into the forest and he ran after her.


Back in the hospitang Mng Madame Pomfrey went in to check on her patient.
\"Oh no the girl!\"
She ran to notify Dumbledore. In all her years she had never lost a patient.
