What Happens in Denmark

Severus groaned into Ron's shoulder. He was an intelligent man. He
knew when he suggested spending the night at the younger man's flat
that they would end up in bed together. He had not, however,
anticipated that Christmas morning would start much the same way that
Christmas Eve had ended. As they shuddered to climax and fell
entangled to the mattress, he couldn't raise complaints to the matter
though – already, this holiday was proving the best he'd ever
had. He was accustomed to spending the day alone with a good book.
He enjoyed the habit, but it didn't exactly vary from his normal
routine. He had spent the better part of his life reading – he
didn't think it would be too criminal of him to put the tattered
pages of his favorite texts aside for a while in favor of relishing
in his new relationship with an alluring young man half his age. The
books would still be there when the honeymoon period was over.
He rolled onto his back, enjoying the way Ron murmured lazily and
cuddled into his chest as he reached for his wand. “Accio,
gift,” Snape said. He hadn't the foggiest what to get the
redhead, but he knew, under the circumstances, a gift was definitely
called for. It was far too early for rings, Ron didn't seem much the
type for chains, and a tie was far too impersonal. He handed the
small box over.
Ron sat up and eagerly tore away the wrapping while saying, “you
didn't have to get me anything.” The childlike glee on the
young man's face was more than enough reward for having taken a few
moments to be thoughtful, though.
Ron flipped open the lid and instantly started laughing. It was a
watch.
Snape frowned, misunderstanding. “It is Danish, I thought...”
“No, no, it's great. That's not why I'm laughing, it's
just...oh, here.” He put his present down and rolled over,
fumbling through the nightstand and holding out a box to Snape that
was precisely the same size.
Snape wrinkled his nose and sat up, pulling at the ribbon, carefully
unwrapping the paper, and folding it to one side before opening the
box. He too laughed. A danish watch, but that wasn't all. It was the
exact same one. Identical in every way.
Ron grinned at him, holding his own loosely draped over his
fingertips and leaned over to give Snape a relatively chaste kiss.
“It's great. Really,” he chuckled. “I thought it
was a great watch when I bought it, and I think it's a great watch
now.”
Snape nodded. “I suppose I've no choice but to agree, under
the circumstances.”
Ron wasn't really sure what the rest of the holiday would bring –
plenty of chaos, he figured, and the warmth only a loving family
could provide – those things went without saying. As for the
rest? Well, anything would be fine, really, but he was hoping for
mistletoe.
