Chapter 12- Intervention

Chapter 12- Intervention

Hermione was a bit shocked at where Minerva had taken her. Harry and Ginny’s house to be exact. “Um, Minerva what’s going on here?”

“My dear, you need help,” Minerva said.

“Oh great. This is an intervention isn’t it?” Hermione growled.

“Mione, you’re depressed. You need to talk about this," Ginny spoke up as she entered the living room with Narcissa Malfoy and Pansy.

“I don’t want to talk about this,” Hermione growled as she jumped to her feet.

“Hermione, I’ve been in your shoes. Lucius and Severus aren’t best friends for nothing. We almost didn’t get married because of it,” Narcissa added.

Hermione turned and faced Narcissa. In the older woman’s eyes she saw a kindred spirit. Hermione sighed and dropped back onto the sofa. Pansy sat beside her. “Hermione, let me clue you in on Slytherin men. Yes they know how to show a woman a good time, but when it comes to relationships, they’re a bit on the slow side,”

“She’s right. Especially when it comes to Severus. The last serious relationship he had ended badly. She was a female Death Eater. He had only had the mark for about a year when he met her. She was caught by Severus in bed with a fellow Death Eater. After that, he closed his heart to women,” Narcissa explained sadly.

Severus sat in an arm chair at Malfoy Manor. He had just finished retelling the fight to Lucius, Ron, and Draco since Harry and Albus already knew the details. Harry knew Hermione’s side because she had sent a letter to Ginny about it.

“No offense Severus, but you royally screwed this up,” Draco laughed as he shook his head.

“Yes we’ve established that, thank you Draco,” Severus said, rolling his eyes in response.

“Severus, what made you even mention the Quidditch tickets first?” Lucius asked after popping Draco upside the back of the head.

“I honestly don’t know Lucius. Now I know should have mentioned the villa first then explained about the tickets. At the time however, the tickets just popped out first,” Severus sighed, running his fingers through his hair.

“Perhaps it’s not too late to fix this,” Harry spoke up.

“She won’t even talk to me Harry. I…I’m afraid I’ve lost her,” Severus replied with a shudder in his voice.

“Look, Harry and I know Hermione. Yes she gets short tempered when she’s stressed and running on little sleep. It usually takes her a while to calm down and think straight,” Ron said.

“I have no idea how to fix this,” Severus moaned.

Hermione lay in her bed. She was feeling emotionally and physically exhausted. After listening to Narcissa and Pansy, with Minerva and Ginny adding their input, she had a better understanding of Slytherin men. Especially Severus. Narcissa and Minerva told her how Severus was when he was younger. She knew he had a hard upbringing, but she had no idea how lonely it was for him as well.

‘I’m surprised he was so patient with me after I flipped out,’ She thought. She closed her eyes, curled up under the blankets and fell asleep.

In Malfoy Manor, Severus too laid in his bed. Thanks to Harry and Ron, he knew what to do. He already told Albus that he was returning to Hogwarts after breakfast the next morning. ‘Tomorrow I make the first move. I’ll get Hermione back, my pride be damned,’ His mind vowed, as he drifted off to sleep.

Hermione sat at the breakfast table with Pansy, Ginny, Minerva, and Narcissa. She felt completely rested. She greeted everyone with a bright and cheery smile.

“Now you look like your old self,” Ginny greeted.

“I feel like my old self,” Hermione said as she poured herself a glass of orange juice. Over breakfast the five ladies talked about fashion and such.

After the cheerful meal, they returned to the living room. After Hermione went to bed, Minerva decided to tell Hermione the real reason for Severus having the Quidditch tickets in the first place.

“Hermione, I’m going to tell you the real reason Severus has those tickets. Lucius gave him the keys to his and Narcissa’s villa not far from where the match is being held. Because of security, the tickets were merely a way to get through the security,” Minerva explained.

“What? You…you mean he didn’t want to go to the match?” Hermione asked in a whisper.

“No. He came to the house a few days before your fight. He asked Lucius what he should get you for Christmas. That’s when Lucius mentioned the villa. Lucius felt you and Severus would like the solitude,” Narcissa answered.

Hermione sat in shock. All this time she had thought Severus was thinking about himself. When in fact he was thinking of THEM. Finally she got her voice back. “Oh god. I was so awful to him. I thought he…oh no. I have to get back. I need to talk to Severus now,” She gasped jumping to her feet.

“Hermione wait!” Ginny called out.

“No! I started this now I need to fix it. I just hope it’s not too late,” Hermione stated.

The four watched as Hermione ran upstairs. Once Hermione grabbed her things, she left the Potter home and apparated to Hogwarts. She hurried through the gates and into the castle. Hermione entered her suit, dropped her bag at the foot of her bed, and was about to leave; till she caught her reflection in the mirror.

“I look like hell. I can’t go to him looking like this,” She said and made a bee line for the bathroom instead.

Severus had just exited his bedroom when he felt the wards around his chambers shift. He looked up just as the door to his sitting room opened. He froze when saw Hermione standing in the door way.

“Hermione? What are you…”

“Severus stop. I’m so sorry. I should have let you explain. Instead my temper got the better of me; like it always does. I know it’s probably too late, but can we fix this? I don’t want to lose you Severus,” Hermione said tearfully.

Severus closed the distance between them in three large strides, pushed the door closed behind her and pulled her into his arms. “Hermione, I love you too and I don’t want to lose you either. I should have told you about the villa first then about the damned tickets. And yes we can fix this,”

“Does that mean you take me back? Despite me acting like a complete bitch to you?” She asked hopefully as she moved out of his arms to look at him better.

“Yes Hermione. I’ll take you back if you’ll take me back,” He answered with a smile.

“Yes!” she squealed.

Severus caught her as she jumped back into his arms. In an instant their lips were locked. The kiss was fierce and passionate. Severus moaned as Hermione locked her ankles behind his back, trapping him snuggly between the V of her legs.
