Chapter Eleven
Hermione sighed as she plopped down on one of the couches in the room. It had been a long day. Three essays and a long practice session that had left everyone exhausted.
Now, only she and Draco were left in the Room of Requirement. Everyone else had left, feeling as though the practice had been disastrous.
Hermione couldn\'t agree more, either. After two months, Charles still refused to dance with Astoria. Justin was coming down with something, no one knew what, but everyone stayed away from him when he coughed and sneezed. Draco had to pull him out and send him to Madam Pomphrey. Then Hannah twisted her ankle during one of her more upbeat moves.
The band still sounded magnificent. The Gryffindor still couldn\'t believe how well they played together. Most importantly, she couldn\'t believe how much Draco had truly changed. Thinking of the blond, Hermione stole a glance at him and saw that he was strumming his guitar, not really paying attention.
She took the opportunity to really look at him. Not once since she had joined the band had he been anything but nice to her. He never called her names, though often times he still referred to her as "Granger." He did not speak of her parentage, beside the one time he asked how her parents were doing.
And then, there was that trip to Hogsmeade. Hermione hadn\'t forgotten how much fun they had had. She had seen a side of Draco that she knew very few had ever seen. Not only was he charming, but he had a good sense of humour and was quite the gentleman.
When he finally looked up from his guitar, Draco noticed that Hermione was staring at him. He raised an eyebrow. "What is it?" he asked.
She gave him a soft smile and stood up from the couch. She strolled over to where he sat near the table and sat on the ground next to him. "What were you playing?" she asked. "It was beautiful."
He shrugged. "Nothing in particular. Would you like to hear it?"
She nodded.
He began playing and found that he could not stop looking in her eyes. Then, not breaking eye contact, he sang:
"And I wish I knew everything there is to know about you.
And I want you to see just exactly what you mean to me.
And you – you think you know me.
I guarantee there’s a lot more to see.
And you – you don’t believe it’s true -
That if I’m dreaming, I’m dreaming of you.
And I wish that I could hold your hand,
Feet beneath the sand.
And I wish that I could drive you in my car
To kiss you under stars.
And I want you to be, everything that you deserve to be.
And if I close my eyes, then I can see you perfectly.
And I – I don’t know where to go.
I wrote a song just to let you know
That we – we could be together.
I’ll hold you forever.
And I wish that I could hold your hand,
Feet beneath the sand.
I wish that I could drive you in my car
To kiss you under stars.
And I wish that I could hold your hand,
Feet beneath the sand.
And I wish that I could feel your touch,
I think about you so much."
As his song ended, they continued to stare at one another. He placed his guitar softly on the ground next to him and then did something Hermione had never thought possible.
He moved to sit on the ground with her, touching her face with his fingertips, then, he kissed her. It was a slow, soft, testing kiss. He simply brushed his lips against hers. Then, wanting more, he slightly deepened the kiss, running the tip of his tongue across her bottom lip, trying to draw her lips apart.
At first, Hermione was in shock. But, his song had been so beautiful and she felt as though he had sang them just for her. She willingly opened her mouth to him and he plunged in as though he were a starving man. His tongue collided with hers and soon it was as though their tongues were battling.
He drew her body closer to his and placed his other hand, the one not currently hiding in her hair, around her waist. He brought her up to a kneeling position so he could press her against his body. She followed his lead, letting him take over. After all, he knew more about it than she did.
All she could do was feel and taste. She could taste his lips, his tongue. She could feel his hands running lightly over her body. She had one hand clutched in his shirt against his chest and another running over his shoulder and arm. She wanted him even closer to her, but had no idea how to do that.
Then she felt his hand slip under her shirt to feel her bare skin across her back. She felt, rather than heard, the soft snap of her bra coming undone. "Draco," she whispered, breaking their kiss.
He took the opportunity to run kisses along her jaw and neck, while running his hand and fingers along her bare back. "Draco," she whispered again, this time a bit stronger and more demanding.
But Draco\'s mind was far away. All he could do was taste and touch. He had never had a more beautiful person in his arms and he had no desire to break away from her. He lowered his hands to her rear and pressed his erection against her stomach.
This time, she didn\'t whisper. "Draco," she said, quite loudly.
He lifted his lust-hazed eyes to hers and saw that she was quite angry. He blinked several times in confusion before realization dawned on him. He was breathing heavily as he came down from his high. "I\'m... I\'m sorry," he whispered, when he found he could speak. He released his hold on her and sat back on his heels. "I didn\'t mean..."
"I know you didn\'t," she said, sitting back as well. Her anger left as quickly as it had come. "It was a beautiful song."
"It was for you," he told her quickly. "I..."
They sat in silence for a while. Hermione adjusted herself so she sat more comfortably on the floor. She looked up at him and saw that he was battling himself with something. Her mind played over the kiss they shared. It was a wonderful kiss and made her crave for more. "I especially liked the part when you kissed me," she said, her voice soft as she looked away from him.
He looked up at her in amazement. He watched her cheeks blush prettily and found that he couldn\'t take his eyes off of her. He took her hand into his. Finding his courage, he plunged head on, "I know there are a lot of people against us. But, I... Hermione, if you would... I can\'t imagine people are going to be pleased, but I don\'t care... That song was beautiful... You are beautiful... Will you...
I..."
His courage was failing him. She glanced up at him and their eyes met. For a long moment, they searched one another, looking for some sign that this was the right thing to do. Then, after what seemed like forever, Hermione smiled. Draco couldn\'t stop the beam that erupted over his face.
Author\'s Note: Sorry it\'s been a while, guys. I promise I hadn\'t forgotten this story. I will finish it, just like I will finish In-Laws. It\'s just taking me a while.
The song is a song written and sung by Tom Felton and is called "Under Stars." I felt that, seeing as Tom plays Draco in the movies, and the song fits the scene, I would put it here. I will explain the car in the next chapter, I promise.
