Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Luke burst into his sister’s apartment. He found Han, Leia, Severus, and two men he didn’t know waiting for him. The second Leia saw her twin, she ran to him. Luke all but collapsed into his twin’s arms. The second he left Tatooine, he had contacted Leia and Han and told them everything.
“Sshh. Luke, sit down before you fall down,” Leia said gently.
She led him to the sofa where Luke collapsed onto the cushion. Han sat on the other side of Luke and put his arm around his brother-in-law. It pained him to see the normally strong Jedi Master so broken.
“Luke, this is Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. They’re friends of Hermione’s,” Severus introduced.
“Master Skywalker, we have already sent out teams to look for Hermione,” Sirius stated.
“Thank you. How…how many of the Order of Phoenix are here?” Luke asked quietly.
“Everyone we could spare. Around three hundred. The rest are on Earth dealing with the Death Eaters Voldemort left behind,” Remus answered.
“I just want her and our son found safe and unharmed,” Luke whispered as he buried his face in his hands.
Severus walked over and knelt at Luke’s feet. “Luke, we will find Hermione. She and your son will be returned to you. I swear on my life, I will do everything in my power to return her to you,”
“We all will,” Han added.
Luke looked up and found Leia, Han, Remus, and Sirius all kneeling next to Severus. Their hands all resting on his knees. He had no words to describe the lift in his heart at their show of loyalty.
“I can never repay you for your help,” he replied.
“You never have to little brother,” Leia smiled.
“Who says you’re older?” Luke said, returning her smile partially.

Harry sat beside Lando in the LADY LUCK. The second Luke told Leia about Hermione being taken; Han had relayed the information to them. Lando, Harry, and Ron immediately turned around and headed back for Coruscant.
“You alright Harry?” Lando asked.
“No. I swear, when I find Voldemort he’s a dead man,” Harry answered.
“I know you’re supposed to kill him, but if Luke finds him first, he may save you the trouble,” Lando sighed.
“I just want to find her and the baby and return safely them to Luke. Where they belong,” Harry replied.
At that moment, Ron entered the bridge. “I just got off the comm with Remus. Luke’s at his sister’s. Remus says he’s really broken up. According to his sister, she’s never seen him like this,”
“Well, we’ll be there in an hour. Then we can get a good look at that note this bastard left behind,” Lando nodded.
“How will the note help us find Hermione?” Ron questioned.
“Well, in the New Republic people don’t leave notes on paper very much. Oh sure some of the Outer Rim systems do, but paper can be traced. If we can find where it came from, we have a better idea of where to begin our search,” Lando explained.
“Then let’s hope we can find his trail,” Harry hissed.

Hermione was jarred from her sleep at the sound of her door opening. Slowly, she sat up. She found Narcissa Malfoy carrying a tray of food into the bedroom. She smiled kindly at Hermione.
“I thought you might like something to eat Master Skywalker,” Narcissa smiled.
“Why are you being nice to me?” Hermione asked.
“I want to help you. The truth is I’m on your side. I have no loyalties to Voldemort or that monster I call a husband. For the past twenty years, I’ve been helping the Order. If I heard Lucius discussing raids or other missions, I passed that information on to Severus,” Narcissa answered.
Hermione studied the blonde haired woman. Even without the Force, she could tell Narcissa was telling the truth. She could see it in the woman’s eyes. She let out a soft sigh at the prospect of having an ally.
“I know you probably don’t believe me but…”
“No, I do Mrs. Malfoy. Even without the Force I can see in your eyes that you want to help me,” Hermione smiled.
“Please, call me Narcissa. Look, Voldemort brought me here to be your midwife. I’ll do everything I can to help you. I can’t send messages to your husband because I’m not allowed near the comm unit, otherwise I would,” Narcissa stated.
“Just knowing I have a friend is a comfort. So, what is the story with you and Severus?” Hermione questioned as she began eating.
“That. Severus and I are like brother and sister. Besides, the man I love is Remus. He returns my love, but until Lucius is out of the picture, we can’t be together. Lucius always assumed I loved Severus because Severus was the middle man for me and Remus,” Narcissa replied with a smile.
“What does Voldemort plan to do with me after I have Owen?” Hermione inquired.
“Well, he realizes he can’t take care of an infant. He plans to let you live until Owen is about five or six. After that, I don’t know,” Narcissa answered sadly.
Hermione had a pretty good idea about what Voldemort would do with her. She finished her meal and visited with Narcissa a little longer. After Narcissa left, Hermione moved to sit at her window. At least her prison had a view. Unfortunately, she had no idea what planet she was on.
‘Don’t worry Owen. I know your father and our family will come for us. Plus, we now have Narcissa on our side. She won’t let anything happen to you,’ Hermione thought as she rubbed her stomach, the child within moving against her hand.

“Do we know where the paper came from yet?” Luke asked as he exited Han and Leia’s kitchen.
“No. The New Republic’s analysis droids are still looking,” Leia answered.
Just then, the door opened. In stormed a very ticked off Mara Jade. Mara was Hermione’s cousin, a Master Trader and a Jedi Knight. When Luke joined the Rebellion, Mara had taken him under her wing and taught him the ropes. She had also been Hermione’s Maid of Honor and was very protective of her cousin.
“Oh Luke. I came as soon as Karrde told me,” Mara said as she embraced Luke.
“We’re still trying to find her. Mara, I shouldn’t have left her alone. The second Severus told us about Voldemort, we should have come straight here,” Luke sighed as he returned the hug.
“You listen to me Skywalker. This isn’t your fault. If you had been there, Voldemort would either have killed you or taken you as well to guarantee Hermione cooperated,” Mara stated as she looked into his eye.
“You’re right Jade. We’ll find her and Owen,” Luke nodded.
“That’s the spirit. So, where’s the analysis of that paper?” Mara demanded.
“We’re still trying to figure out where it came from,” Han replied.
“What about Myark? You said he was last spotted there,” Mara questioned.
“Talon is there now. He should be reporting back in the next hour,” Severus responded.
“What about trying to reach Hermione? She told me you two have a bond,” Mara suggested.
“I’ve been trying, but I keep running into a barrier. Wherever she is, she’s being shielded by ysalamiri,” Luke answered.
“Great, she can’t use the Force to get herself out. That means we may have a problem once we do find her,” Mara hissed.
“What is ysalamiri?” Draco inquired.
“It’s a lizard that emanates a secretion that prevents a Jedi from using the Force,” Leia explained.
Luke turned and left the room. He stepped out onto the balcony and closed his eyes as the evening breeze washed over him. Hermione loved Coruscant at night. It was a night much like tonight that she had conceived Owen.
‘Just hang on Hermione. We will find you. When we do, you and Owen will be safe. I don’t care how long it takes or how far I have to search, I won’t give up until I find you,’ Luke vowed as he looked up at the stars.
