** Severus's POV **
Over the years, I had sat back and watched my son. As he started to become independant far before his time. I wonder if listening to Albus was the right thing to have done.
Lilly is feeling the same way. There are times at night that I hold her as she cries.
Telling me of how she feels our son is being pushed to far. And he hasn't been able to just be a child.
I agree in some ways, but in others I like the fact Lucas has stopped clinging to her so much. I remember not long ago that I had become so fustrated that I had told her to cut the strings. Because Lucas had begun following her everywhere with that blasted chair of his. Now I wish that I had remained silent.
Lucas will be five soon, and I feel as though I've missed something over the years.
Sometimes I feel as though I've be a terrible father. For my son has become stranger to me.
These thoughts are beginning to pull at me. And as I sit in my study waiting for a friend. I can't help but wonder if I made the right decisions for my son.
** END POV **

Lucas was floating in his Levi chair, toward his Father's study. He wanted to ask him if he could have a party this year. Ever since his parent's had offically married, it seemed as though his training was more important. But all he really wanted was to have a friend, someone his own age. Someone to play with, he couldn't understand why his parents would deny him that. Oh he had asked but his questions were never answered, not even by Grandpa.
When he reached the oak doors, he raised his hand to knock when he heard raised voices. One belonged to his father, the other he couldn't place. Figuring that he'd have to wait for his father get done. He headed to the library to see his mother, for some reason she was.
"Mother, there's someone in Father's study." Lucas replied as he moved further into the room on his chair.
Lilly turned quickly at the sound of her son's voice. She didn't even hear him come in. As she looked upon the boy, she could see that his eyes held knowledge and power. The gold in them seemed to glow, causing a shiver to run down her spine.
"He's talking to Lucius Malfoy, Lucas-angel."
When he heard his mother call him angel. He jumped out of his chair into her arms. It had been so long since she had called him that. And once he was in her arms, he felt alittle more at peace. Maybe he thought, everything was going to be ok.
Lilly had to gasp at he son jumping into her arms from his chair. She didn't know what had caused him to do so. But she wasn't going to ask, if Lucas wanted to be held, then he was going to get held. Truth of the matter was she missed her son.
"Lucas-angel, I need you to get that book for me." Lilly asked as she pointed to the book, that to her was just a bunch squiggles.
"Which book?" Lucas asked softly and was confused as his mother said the one with squiggles. What squiggles? he thought as he looked where she was pointing.
Lilly had seen the confusion and voiced that the book was between Posion Potions and Deadly Potions by: Trencork. Lucas looked again, seeing the two books he levitated the one his mother was wanted. But wondered why she didn't just say the name of the book.
"Why didn't you just say get me the book of Potions by Salazar Slytherin?" he remarked as said book was in his mothers hands.
Then a gasp was heard, causing his mother to turn around swiftly that he had almost been dropped. For he was still resting on his mother's hip. When he looked over he seen his father and who he guessed was Lucius Malfoy.
"He can read that book, Lilly?" Lucius softly asked, he knew that Lucas was a prodigy child from Severus. But to hear it was one thing, seeing it was another.
"I would seem so Luc, what's so important about the book?"
Severus and Lucius's jaws dropped, that book was written in parseltongue. And Severus acquired it from the Dark Lord when the man couldn't read it. They knew Lucas was a parselmouth, but never figured the boy could read it as well.
Lucas watched the two's faces and fought off a giggle, while had his mother put him down. Afterward he walked over to Lucius, before tugging on his sleeve. With eyes of michief, he decided to see what made this new adult tick.
"Sir, do you have someone my age that could play with me? I don't have to practice my magic for a few weeks and well.." Lucas softly asked as he looked at the man with large innocent eyes.
Severus had to cough to keep from laughing, while Lilly had buried her face in his robes. But not before placing a silencing charm on her mouth. He knew she was laughing as he could feel her shoulders shaking.
"My son, Draco is your age. I'm sure I could arrange for him to come play with you."
"Please," Lucas whispered as he raised his arms to be held. When Lucius lifted him and placed him on his hip. Lucas smirked at his parents. But narrowed his eyes when the man placed him on the couch. That just won't do at all, Lucas thought as he tried to figure a way back into the mans lap. He could feel the magic radiating of him, and it was powerful.
"Lucas, do you think you could read this for Uncle Lucius?" asked Lucius as he lifted the book up.
Lucas smiled and answered shyly, "Only if you hold me."
Lucius didn't see anything wrong with holding to boy. So he sat down on the sofa, pulling Lucas into his lap. Not noticing the sly look the boy had given his parents as the boy leaned back into his chest.
When Lucas was leaning back into Uncle Lucius, he looked at his parents and mouthed
'Sucker' then winked. Before turning to the book to begin reading it.
Severus couldn't handle it he laughed, hard enough that he needed to grab the table to hold him upright.
"Lilly what is wrong with Severus?"
"I have no idea, what about you Lucas-angel. Do you know what's wrong with your father?"
Lucas just looked up with innocent eyes, before replying, "No." Then turning back to the book. He read until he was finished, not noticing that his mother had charmed parchment to get the words in English.
After the two copies were made and binded. Lucius bid his farwells, with a promise to Lucas that Draco would be over after lunch the next day. When he was gone both Severus and Lilly toward Lucas. Who was getting back into his Levi chair with a satified look.
As the boy was hovering out the door, he was stopped by his father's voice.
" Wait Lucas, How did you do it?"
" Do what Father?" came the drawed response from Lucas.
" That back there with Lucius. He doesn't even hold his own son like that." Severus snapped as he waved his hand toward the door, Lucius had exited moments ago.
" It's my magic Father, if I want something all I must do is ask. And my magic responds everytime. If you want the details ask Grandpa Albus, because he's the one that taught me how." Lucas stated with a smirk, before he to exited the room. He was hungry and his stomach refused to be denied.
" Lilly, I think we need to have a long talk with Albus. Lucas's behavior can not continue." snarled Severus as he guided his wife out of the room.
