Our Seventh Year

Snape had slipped down to the Slytherin common room, and waited for someone to come and get him. He knew he was in deep trouble, especially if the damage to Potter was great.

McGonagall burst into the common room, and saw the boy sitting on the couch, “Mr. Snape, my office, NOW!”

Snape obliged, following her, ignoring the stares from his half awake peers.

Lily walked back into the hospital wing and sat in wait. She did not even bother to run off and change. She could heard groans of pain coming from James, and Lily felt horrible, if not for her, none of this would of happened.

The blood had finally stopped flowing, but he was still covered in it. James was beginning to come around again as she shoved a very slimy potion . He coughed a bit of it up, with some blood mixed in.

Pomfrey cleaned him up, and changed him into a hospital gown. His face had deep gashes, but she had gotten to him in time, so they would not scar.

She appeared from behind the curtain, and walked over to Lily. “He is better, but not out of the woods yet.” Pomfrey told her honestly.

“I gave him a blood replenishing potion, and was able to stop the bleeding, you can go see him if you would like,” she said before slipping into her office. She needed to write to James’ parents about what had happened.

Lily ran to his side instantly, and grabbed his hand as gently as possible. His face was gouged deeply, as well as his arms, and what else she could see.

“James?” she said quietly unsure if he was awake or not.

James opened his eyes as best as he could to look at Lily, his glasses were off, and Lily saw they had been shattered.

“Hey Lils,” James said, his voice hoarse.

Tears were still flowing down Lily’s face as she looked at him, she felt horrible, and he must have been in a lot of pain.

Pomfrey returned after writing to James’ parents, she as expecting them soon. “His parents will be here soon,” Pomfrey said to Lily. “You should go change,” she said looking at Lily. The blood had begun to dry, but her whole front, and legs were covered in it.

Lily looked down at herself, and nodded. She did not want his parents to see her like this, and scare them even more.

“I will be back soon love,” Lily said leaning down and kissing James’ forehead.

With that Lily slipped out of the hospital wing, running to her room. Many students were up now, and they were all looking at her curiously, it was obvious she was covered in blood.

Lily had burst into her room to change, then into the boys dormitory, looking for Sirius, Remus, and Peter. She found Sirius first, waking him, and letting him know what had happened with a short two minute synopsis.

After that she appeared in the hospital wing to see who two adults, who were obviously James parents. She stayed in the back, letting his parents talk to him, and to Madame Pomfrey.

James was glad to see his parents, but he wondered where Lily was, he needed to see her. “Is Lily back yet?” he managed to get out before coughing once again.

“I’m right here James,” Lily said making her way to the other side of the bed. His parents smiled at her, before slipping into Pomfrey’s office. Lily saw Dumbledore, and McGonagall follow about five minutes later.

She held his hand lightly, her thumb rubbing over an uninjured spot. “I’m sorry,” she said quietly looking down at him.

“It’s not your fault Lily,” James said with the best smile he could get out. Lily leaned down and kissed him again when she heard the door burst open.

There half dressed were the other three marauders coming in to check on James. “Your friends are here,” she said .

Sirius ran around to his other side, “hey Prongs,” he said looking him over. Remus and Peter were standing right behind him.

“Hey,” James said looking at the three of them. “I’m not dead ya know,” he said smirking trying to make light of the situation.

“No, but Snape is,” Sirius said looking to Lily, then back to James.

No one said anything as the office door open again. Dumbledore and McGonagall left deep in discussion, and the other three came over.

Lily moved out of the way, and went around to where the marauders were to give James’ parents some room. They said their goodbyes, they had to go to work, and James was going to be alright.

“Where did you lot come from?” Pomfrey asked once James’ parents left. “He needs his rest, everyone out. You can come back after dinner.”

Everyone groaned, but obliged, Lily kissed James goodbye, and left. Now especially, Lily never wanted to see Severus again.
