Chapter 11
Chapter 11
“Sorry Severus were we interrupting anything?” Albus asked, “I suppose she had something in her eye and you were helping her look for it.” His eyes twinkled.
“Now that you’ve finally decided to show up we can get down to business.” Severus replied.
Severus told Albus about the dream that Ruthie had and what his suspicions were.
“Well Severus, I believe that you are right. The only way to know for sure is for Voldemort to tell us himself, but that is not likely to happen. We must watch these two extra carefully in the time to come, because I believe that last nights dreams were just the start of it.”
“What do you mean?” Hermione said getting pale.
“I believe now that he has realized that he has a daughter he will be invading your dreams more often.” Albus replied
“How can we stop him?” Hermione asked.
“Well we can give you a dreamless sleep potion or you can take lessons to clear your mind.” Albus said.
“What about Ruthie?” Hermione asked.
“That’s where we run into a bit of a problem. She’s too young to learn how to clear her mind, and I don’t think dreamless sleep will be too good for her. Let me consult an old friend.” Albus replied. “I think that’s all we can decide tonight. It’s getting late so I’m going back to bed. I’ll see you three tomorrow.”
The three sat in silence. Each trying to find their own answers.
“There just has to be a way to help her. I can’t expect her to go through this every time he feels the need to just pop in her head.” Hermione said.
“Dumbledore will think of something Hermione, it’s what he does.” Harry replied.
“And what until then?” Hermione shouted. “I’m sorry Harry, this a bit more than I can take right now. I mean why me?”
“I’m sorry Hermione; I never thought that you being my friend could be this bad.”
“Harry, I wouldn’t give our friendship up for the world.”
“Thanks.”
“Well as touching as this is, if you are no longer in need of me I’ll be going back to bed.” Severus said.
“Thank you Severus.” Hermione said looking at him, “We’ll see you in the morning.”
Severus left and Harry and Hermione sat down on the couch.
“What was that we walked in on Hermione?” Harry asked.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Yes you do. The two of you were snogging. I know it’s none of my business but Snape?”
“I know Harry; I can hardly believe it myself. He’s been so different this summer. The way he is with Ruthie, and with me.”
“You’re not just looking to find Ruthie a dad are you? I mean because if you are, I’d do that for you.”
“No Harry, Ruthie doesn’t need a dad to be happy, and I could never ask that of you. I just think we’re seeing the real Severus. You know like the man behind the mask. I don’t think he wants to be mean and nasty all of the time, other than potions class is all.”
“Just be careful Hermione, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I’m going to bed now Harry; you can sleep here on the couch if you want.”
“I think I’m going to see if Dumbledore can add another room, I don’t like the idea of you two staying here by yourselves until this can be somewhat resolved.”
“Good night Harry.” Hermione said leaving and going to bed.
Harry laid down himself and went back to sleep.
The next morning Harry awoke to someone poking him in his side. He opened his eyes and found Ruthie standing there.
“Up.” She said.
“Huh?” Harry asked sleepily.
“Mummy….Ry up.”
“Is Harry up?”
Ruthie nodded her head yes.
“Harry you can use my shower if you want but we’re heading to breakfast.”
“Thanks Hermione, I’ll be up soon.”
Ruthie and Hermione left and went to the Great Hall for breakfast. They saw Severus sitting there and Ruthie ran up to him.
“Sverus.” She said giving him a hug.
“Good morning to you.” He smirked “She seems not to remember last night.” He said to Hermione
“No she doesn’t, and I’m glad for it.” Hermione replied.
“Severus, Miss Granger, I would like for the two of you to come to my office after breakfast.” Albus said.
“Certainly Albus.” They both replied.
They sat there eating, Harry did eventually make it, and when they were done Hermione asked Harry to watch Ruthie so that she could go to the Headmasters office. Of course he agreed.
In the Headmaster’s office.
“I think that until I hear back from my friend that we should make some living changes. I think that Hermione and Ruthie should move down into the dungeons. There are extra quarters next to Professor Snape’s that way in case anything happens Severus will be right there.”
“Do you think that’s wise Headmaster?” Severus asked.
“Yes, I do. It will serve many purposes. And you can tell Tom that I’m making you watch Hermione for the time being. It won’t be for too long. Just until we figure out how to help Ruthie. How does this sound Hermione.”
“I think we can do that Headmaster.”
“Good then, the elves are transferring your things now. Severus why don’t you accompany Hermione to her new rooms?”
“Are you ready?” Severus asked
“Yes.” She replied.
They left Albus office and started down to the dungeons.
“What are we doing Severus?” Hermione asked putting her hand on his sleeve.
“We’re walking to your quarters.” He smirked.
“You know what I mean.”
“What do you want it to be?”
“I’ve never been like this with anyone.”
“Neither have I. Why don’t we just not name it? Go with it for now?” He asked.
“I can’t deal with that.” She replied smiling.
They made it to the new quarters. They walked in and it looked about the same.
“There is only one difference.” Severus said walking over to the wall, “There is a connecting door here. Just knock and say my name and it will open into my quarters.”
“Does is work the same on both ends?”
“Yes.”
Suddenly Severus grabbed his arm in pain. “Tell Albus I’m being called.”
“Just be careful.” She replied kissing his cheek.
“I will.”
Severus left and Hermione went to the floo and told Albus.
-Authors Note- I know this was a crappie chapter. I\'m sorry. IT\'s really just a go between chapter. In the next will have Snape\'s meeting with Voldemort. Thanks to all of my reviewers. I hope to have the next chapter up sometime today.
