Dogs entry 6

AN: Sorry it took so long. Steffy's been bugging me for so long already to get him this chapter, but I've been up to my eyes in homework. Oh, and not to mention the Old Settlers festival this weekend! So I've been working on the photographs I took. Marzipan = Aspiring Photographer! *high five*

…And tests. I'm preparing for three tests in the next two days, along with a paper that's due.

Alright alright. So here's the deal. You kids are all "zomgggg get out of journal format blahblahblah" and I thought HEY! Why not? Maybe just one more time. You deserve it.

Sixth Journal

Remus is terrified of the full moon. I think that's the only time I ever see him afraid is when the moon is rising. Last night though, he was so relaxed. I know that my being there has something to do with it, but I really think it's the fact that the shack isn't big and scary anymore. He feels comfortable there on every other day, so the werewolf in him is at ease there. I swear though, now that he and I are together, the wolf in him wants a little nibble on me, too.

Last night there was a bit of trouble. The entrance of the tunnel to the shack is beneath the Whomping Willow, but we've never fully trusted its safety. During the moons, Prongs guards the entrance at the bottom of the tunnel to make sure nobody just happens to stumble in and find a werewolf (though now that I say that, maybe we could have a little more fun with Snivellus…), and Peter is usually the spy at the window, to alert us if someone is approaching. But well, considering the fact that Peter is a coward and does whatever Regulus says these days, we don't really trust him to keep an eye out.

Someone got into the tunnel. We're still not sure who it was, and that's what scares us the most. I didn't recognize the smell of whoever it was…

~

The moon had risen a few hours before, but so far the shack was lacking its shriek. Prongs was stationed in the tunnel, and was bored out of his antler-topped skull. This moon seemed to be a good one for Remus, because the wolf wasn't causing any sort of hassle yet.

Padfoot was nuzzling Moony's throat lightly, the two licking sweetly at one another. The two had been playing since moonrise, and now the two were exhausted with one another. Sirius made a mental note to get Remus to bathe him in the morning - his fur was matted with dirt and other things that dogs got into. For now though, he was content to lick at the werewolf's muzzle as if the creature wasn't something that could rip his throat out in an instant.

Wormtail was nowhere to be found. He'd been at the shack at the start of the evening, but he'd disappeared half an hour before. Like any of them had noticed though…it was hard to notice a missing rat.

It was the yelling that got to them the most. There had been a series of loud thuds that echoed down the tunnel, sending the suddenly-angry wolf out of the bedroom with the dog right on its heels.

Moony was halfway down the tunnel before Padfoot caught up and blocked him from going any further. He was on guard though, barking angrily. The stench of someone else was definitely nearby: It was infuriating the wolf, which was in turn creating more anxiety in the dog, which was in turn frightening the stag and making him even more defensive towards the stranger.

When the cloaked figure caught sight of the two new creatures it stumbled back. Suddenly the tunnel was filled with noise again as the stag charged forward, causing a startled yell from the stranger, loud barks from the dog, and snarls from the wolf. All three creatures went for the unknown person then, sending it right back up the entrance to the tunnel. They only stopped when they were satisfied with the swishes and thunks of the Whomping Willow's branches.

Well…Padfoot and Prongs stopped. They spent the next hour herding the wolf back into the shack. The rest of the evening was tense, though. Who could've known that there was a tunnel beneath that tree? Who would've dared try to get into the tunnel, anyway?

~

Maybe we'll find out tomorrow - We could sneak to the hospital ward and see who was admitted for antlers-to-the-chest. Because it HAD to be a student, right? Maybe a Hufflepuff - I don't know many of them, so…maybe. But I don't think Hufflepuffs are THAT brave. It definitely wasn't a Gryffindor, and I've gotten into fights with most of the Slytherins… And Ravenclaws are just too smart to go messing around a werewolf's den. And teachers…

Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.

Maybe.

…I hope.
