I love the feedback I'm getting from this story. It's been brewing in my imagination for a while, and I'm glad i decided to start putting keystrokes in.

As for what I did to James...I'm fascinated by his character. Don't worry....his condition isn't a handicap. He is more than ready and willing to do all sorts of things...namely protecting his new little friend from her dim-witted brother. but we'll deal with that shortly.

And feel free to mention anything that I say that comes off as too American. I'm from the southeastern part of the U.S, and we have a vernacular that is particularly....interesting.

And there is a bit of abuse in the end of this chapter. Give me your feedback on it, as i do love opinions and ideas for what to add next to the story. Wrecking Draco and Abraxas' sweet little asses wasn't originally part of the story, but I loved the idea I got from MidnightLilly's review. So it just goes to show you that your reviews can become part of my story.

Lucius Apparated straight into his bedroom. He cursed aloud, frightening the still-slumbering Narcissa into awakening. She pulled the covers off of her head, and looked at her husband with sleepy eyes.

“Is Draca off to school?” she asked.

“Yes.” He snipped. She cocked her head slightly.

“Don’t be angry with me. What happened?” she asked, sliding off of the bed and shuffling towards her husband with sleepy feet.

“That Potter boy. What happened to him?” he asked, looking at his wife. She scratched her head.

“The little one? He was abducted a few years ago by some rogue Death Eaters. They experimented with him, and turned him into some half-human half-dragon creature. His father tracked him down and killed every Death Eater there.” She replied, wracking her brain for what she could remember of the story. It was all over the Prophet, considering whose son it had been. “Why?” she asked.

“Because, he’s now Draca’s friend. ” He said. Narcissa could see the conflict in Lucius’ face.

“Lu….the…the world is changing…and I think….” She started, unsure what to say.

“You think what? That it’s a good idea for her to hang around with that little Half-blood?” he asked angrily. “You think that it’s okay for her to slum around with the boy whose father essentially put me in Azkaban? You think that’s all right?” Lucius was in a terrible rage, and Narcissa was getting a bit nervous.

Nine years with an abusive male in the house made her instincts tremble with fear. But she tried with all her might not to be afraid of this man.

“You were put in Azkaban for the sins you committed. Potter didn’t make you do those things. They were your own doing. And besides….don’t hate the boy for the sins of his father. You know you hated it when people did that

to you.” She said, resting her hand on his arm. He jerked his arm away from her.

“You’re taking the side of that little Half-blood then?” he asked her.

“I’m taking Draca’s side. If she has a friend, then leave it at that. At least it’s a living, breathing friend,

and not a lump of fluff and cloth. Mr. Dragon can only take her so far in life…” she said. Lucius looked at her.

“You’re right. And I hate you for it.” He said. But there was no contempt at all in his voice when he told Narcissa that, so she only laughed.

“The world is really is changing, Lu. I think that Draca will be fine. She’s a smart girl. Incredibly smart. And from what I’ve heard…the little Potter boy is very sweet.” She said. Lucius made a face of disgust.

“She’s smart…but I still don’t trust the little Half-blooded half-breed.” He said. Narcissa rolled her eyes, and laid her hands on her husband’s arm. This time he didn’t jerk away.

“You are a great man. And a terrific grandfather. You’re being protective. It’s natural.” She said, rubbing his arm gently. “Why don’t you go do something to take your mind off Draca?” she asked. “Go out and get yourself something new. Go spend some money, Lucius. It always makes me feel better.” she said, smiling up at him.

Lucius rolled his eyes. “I bet spending my money makes you feel better.” He said. “But you’re right. I need to go do something. You don’t mind me leaving you here today?” he asked.

“Of course not! Matter-of-fact, why don’t you stay gone as long as you need? I’ll go pick Draca up from school. Draco or Glinda will worry about Abraxas.” She said. He regarded his wife momentarily. He could use a reprieve from being in this house. He decided he would take her up on her offer.

“All right, my dear. If you really want me gone that badly…” he said. But when he saw the look on his wife’s face he chucked light-heartedly. “I’m only joking.” He said.

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll find a way to keep myself busy.” She said, and went back over to the large bed; nestling herself back into her little warm spot and pulling the covers back over her head. Lucius smoothed non-existent wrinkles out of the front of his robes, and then Apparated out of the house.

Narcissa snoozed about an hour more before dragging herself out of bed for a shower. Once she felt herself squeaky clean, she dressed and headed downstairs. Draco was in the sitting room, reading a gigantic book of unknown topic. Narcissa approached her son cheerfully.

“Where’s your better half?” she asked him, peering over the top of the book as if trying to see what he was reading.

Draco tilted the book toward himself, cutting off her line of vision. “None of your damned business. Go flirt with father, and leave me alone.” He said angrily, never taking his eyes off of the pages.

“Your father’s out for the day. He-” but she stopped short as her son’s eyes flicked up to her.

“Out? Where? How long?” he said, his cold blue eyes boring into his mother.

“I don’t know where, Draco. I told him to take the day off.” She said, nervously reaching up to stroke her hair. Draco smiled maliciously.

“I’ll be retrieving the children today, mother. Why don’t you go off as well? Pamper yourself.” He said, and Narcissa instantly bristled.

“Never, you conniving little…little…ferret!” she exclaimed. The hair on the back of Draco’s neck stood on end, and he closed the book, setting it beside him on the sofa. Narcissa’s eyes widened slightly, and she stepped back. Draco’s hand flew out and grabbed her arm, and she immediately began trying to escape his grasp. She dug her nails into his hand trying to get him to release her. Draco didn’t move, but instead watched with light amusement as his mother tried to wrench her arm away. But his amusement turned to anger as Narcissa’s head went down to his hand. She was biting him, still desperately trying to get away. Draco growled angrily. Narcissa knew from that sound that she was in it deep. Draco shook her hard, and she gave up her biting technique only to feel the painful sting of his free hand on the side of her face. But he kept a firm hold on his mother, keeping her from being knocked over by the force of his blow. But then his hand flew out once more. She cried out from shock, and was once again prevented from falling. He continued his assault, and landed a series of slaps on her face. Each one would have been sufficient to knock her over had she been allowed to fall. With the last slap he dropped her, and she landed on the floor with a thud.

Narcissa’s ears were ringing, and she gingerly put her hands to her head to make sure it was still on her shoulders. Her hand drifted to her burning cheek, and she began to cry softly. Draco sneered at her, and left the room, not looking back at her once.

He grinned to himself, almost giddy with anticipation. “The little wench will get a great welcoming party from her first day at school.” He said, talking aloud to himself as he walked down the hallway. “When father’s away, Draco will play.” He added, and laughed with despicable mirth at his own joke.

Oh sweet Merlin I just want to kill Draco. Tom Felton is cute, but i always hated Draco's character. So one-dimensional and shallow. And i always felt Harry was similar in his own way....but anywho...don't forget to review! Like I said...it may make a difference.
