Chapter XII

Elated and surprised, Hermione responded to the kiss by fighting for dominance with Severus, as any vampire might. The blood felt electric to her own senses as she hungrily drank what she could. Severus' wound healed quickly, and she was left still kissing him, refusing to let go. His firm grip on her hips drew her in closer until their bodies were flush, completely entwined. Unbeknownst to Hermione, Severus began to levitate off of the ground, the distance between them and the ground growing by the second. As her lips separated from his, her face turned downwards to see the people shrink before her eyes. With shock, she looked to Severus for an answer.

"Levitation. Takes a while to master. Took me years. I don't indulge that often. My emotions must have just been so high that well...we're floating."

He smiled, and kissed her cheek gently. He would give her a little while to digest what had just happened. After all, that was some kiss. It wasn't something he was preparing for either. The high off of the blood, mixed with how much she seemed to be tempting him all night, gave him the confidence to do what took the greatest courage. He was no Gryffindor. From the look on her face, he knew that she enjoyed that just as much as he had. At least he didn't have to regret his decision.

He navigated the skies with ease, although his landing on the roof of her apartment building was a bit rough. Hermione giggled a bit as one of her heels broke off. She quickly took both of them off and dropped them from the roof, not caring where they landed. Although Severus shook his head at this, she knew why she did it: she was drunk off of lust. Hermione walked towards him sultrily and placed her hands on his chest. They were firm, but not too muscular. His body remained the same since he was 25, so it this came as no surprise. He was working for both the Death Eaters and the Order at that point, and probably had to make sure that he was just as physically fit as he was magically fit. Biting her bottom lip in anticipation, she started to unbutton his shirt.

"No."

Severus took her hands, and held them at their sides. He didn't want this to happen this fast, and on a city roof besides. His eyes turned to his would be mortal age with a look of concern from a father figure. He had brought her back into this world. That gave him some leverage over her. With care his kissed the top of her head and turned her face gently so their eyes locked.

"Not here. And not yet. This had been fun, but I don't want it turning into a fuck-fest. I should go back to Hogwarts anyway. I've got some business to take care of."

He turned his back on her, and she seemed to come back to her senses. Her arm instinctually outstretched to reach him, but she pulled it back knowing that it would not change his decision. Instead, she played a card she wasn't sure would seem honest at the moment: innocence. Her voice reverted to that of when she was in school, and she began to play with the ends of a lock of hair.

"So...when will I be seeing you again?"

Ready to apparate away, he turned to face her, now from afar. At least she wasn't trying to get him to stay the night. Knowing that her vampiric skills were beginning to take shape, he wanted to make their next meeting a real challenge. One that might cost her fatal injuries if she were still human.

"Ever been to a vampire bar?"

Quizzically she looked at the man. With a sly look on her face she replied.

"No, however I'm up for anything."

Knowing that she would give a headstrong answer, he flashed a smile with a glimpse of his fangs and stated simply before apparating away with a loud sound of thunder.

"Good. I'll contact you next week with information regarding our next...engagement. Don't try to find me either, or I'll just have to give a rain check to my generosity."

Alone again on the rooftop of her apartment building, she headed down to her room for a much needed rest; unaccustomed to the nocturnal instincts of a vampire.

[AN]That took me a long time to do. And this chapter is very short. I'm preparing for a lot more, so don't fret over the length of this. Just getting the creative juices flowing again. Thank you for all of the reviews, they really are unexpected, but greatly appreciated.[/AN]
