What a Change

Chapter # 12: (finding out.)



Severus watched Harry leave the great hall after dinner two nights later. He hadn’t eaten much of anything. Not wanting to look like something was wrong he waited a few minutes before leaving to see that his son was ok.

As soon as Severus entered his and Harry’s rooms, he heard retching coming from the bathroom and decided to wait until his son was done to say anything.

Harry turned after brushing his teeth to find his father standing against the doorframe looking at him.

“so do you want to tell me what’s going on?” he asked his son as he opened the medicine cabinet and took out a purple bottle. “here drink this down, it’ll help settle your stomach.” he continued handing Harry the potion.

Harry took it and did has his dad had told him to then answered, “I don’t know what’s wrong, I’d be more than happy if you’d tell me.” he said.

“well I think I have a good idea, but there is only one way for me to tell for sure.”

“really how?” asked Harry, a bit relieved that someone could finally help him.

“a simple incantation and I shall have an answer for you.” Severus said.

“well what are you waiting for? I’m not getting any younger here.” said Harry his patients clearly wearing thin.

With out any warning Severus muttered a word and pointed his wand at Harry. The result of the spell making Harry glow blue for a moment. Severus looked on in amazement, he was right, after all this time of suspecting, he’d been right.

“well…what’s the verdict?” Questioned Harry.

“umm…Harry, maybe you should sit down.” said Severus pointing to the couch in front of the nice warm fire.

“what’s wrong?” asked Harry clearly starting to worry.

“umm…well your…your…” he said looking for the easiest way to tell his son the truth. That this was just the beginning of his sickness, Merlin what were they going to do? He thought as he watched his son sitting on the couch.

“I’m what?”

“Harry, your pregnant.” Severus said hoping that his son would stay calm.

“I’m what?!!!” Harry asked in a loud voice. He couldn’t believe what he had been told. How could this have been possible? He wasn’t lying to Remus when he had said that he and Draco were safe, then Harry remembered the one time that they weren’t. they’re first time. How could he have let this happen?

“your pregnant Harry.” Severus said to his son for the second time. “I thought you where when I noticed that you weren’t eating right and making frequent trips to the bathroom, then the dreamless sleep potion that you’ve been asking me for almost every night for the past two weeks.”

“then why didn’t you confront me sooner?” Harry asked not able to look at his father.

“I figured that you would eventually tell me but when you hadn’t, I came to the conclusion that you didn’t know. I did the spell to make sure that I was right and not just jumping to conclusions.” Snape answered.

“God how am I going to tell Draco? Wow, you do know what this means right?“ He asked his father.

“what?” asked Snape.

“Draco’s my soul mate.” said Harry with a smile on his face.

“yeah, your lucky. You’ll find a way to tell Draco, I know you will. But for now I think you better get some rest.”

“your right, good night, dad.”

“night.” said Severus as he left the room.

Harry went up to bed, not sleeping much that night. He just couldn’t believe that he was going to have a baby. He was afraid of what Draco was going to say and was terrified to tell him. What if he didn’t want kids and left Harry to raise it alone? He guessed that he could always just get an abortion, but why? He could do it alone. Then again deep down in his heart he didn’t think that Draco would leave him; after all they were soul mates. Harry woundered what the rules would be now that they knew that they were soul mates. Would they be stuck together for the rest of their lives? Would then get married? Have more kids?

…more kids? … Harry was already worried about having the first one. How was he going to raise a child while he was still one himself? Would he have to quit school? Soon Harry fell asleep of exhaustion.

Harry woke up late the next day, when he realized just what time it was he decided not to go to his morning classes and go straight to the great hall to get something to eat. After he dressed though he realized that he didn’t fell like being around a bunch of people so he had Dobby, one of the house elves, bring him some food from the kitchen.

After eating Harry picked up his backpack and left for potions, hoping that he wouldn’t get into trouble for missing all of his morning classes. He took his time getting there because he figured that he was late already, but when he got to the classroom he saw that he wasn’t. there was a line forming outside the door and right away he saw Draco and walked over.

Draco gave his lover a kiss and asked “where were you this morning?”

“I overslept, dad didn’t wake me.” he answered.

Just then the doors opened and Snape walked out allowing his students to enter. Harry was at the end of the line and the last to enter so he took his time to ask his dad why he didn’t wake him.

“because you can’t brew today’s potion, it’s much to dangerous. I thought I’d let you have the day off to relax, you need your rest.” Snape answered.

“oh, so I guess I’ll just go then.” said Harry a bit disappointed.

“ok, I’ll be back as soon as class is over to talk to you. I think you should talk to Draco too.” his father replied.

And with that Harry left. He was a bit bummed that he couldn’t go to class, he was hoping that he could spend time working with Draco. He decided to go back to his rooms and study while he waited for his dad to get back.

After potions was over Draco came to see Harry, he really wanted to talk to him and now that he knew that they were alone it seemed like the perfect time.

“hey love, what’s wrong?” asked Draco as he walked in.

Harry looked up from the book he was reading and smiled at his boyfriend. “nothing.” he answered.

“Harry I know that something’s wrong, you weren’t aloud to go to potions today and missed all of your other classed too. I know that you’ve been sick as well. So please just tell me?” pleaded Draco as he took a seat next to Harry.

“well your right I have been sick lately, and dad said that I didn’t have to go to any of my classes today, so I didn’t” answered Harry.

“Harry, why would your dad just up and tell you that you didn’t have to go to class, especially his class? I’m worried about you.”

“Draco, you shouldn’t be worried about me, I can take care of my self damn it, I’m not a baby, and did it ever cross your mind that maybe my dad has a heart after all. I have been sick and he’s apparently worried about me too, otherwise he wouldn’t just let me skip classes.” said Harry starting to get annoyed.

“well yeah we’re all worried about you, even Ron and Hermione have been asking about you. So just tell me what’s wrong, you know that you can tell me anything.” said Draco.

“I really wish people would stop fucking worrying about me, I’m fine. And I know that I can tell you anything.” agreed Harry getting even more angered.

“then tell me what’s wrong. Please Harry, I want to help.” pleaded Draco.

“do you really want to know what’s wrong? Do you want to know that fucking bad that you’d sit here and argue with me?” asked Harry as he got up from his seat, and walked over to a painting and stared at it, suddenly finding it very interesting.

Draco stood up and started to walk over to his lover. “yes. If that’s what I have to do to make sure that your alright, then so be it.” he answered very scared of what kind of answer he was about to get.

“fine, I’m pregnant.” Harry said crossing his arms but keeping his back to Draco.

Draco stopped in his tracks, speechless, for a few moments then when he had finally swallowed what his boyfriend had said, walked over to him and put his hand on Harry’s back to comfort him.

Harry turned and Draco noticed that he was crying. At this Draco hugged Harry, they stayed there for a few minutes, then moved to sit back own. Draco held Harry in his lap comforting him with soothing words. “it’ll be ok love, we’ll make it though this. Everything’s going to be ok, I promise.” he said.

Severus who had stayed behind to grade papers hoping to give Draco and Harry some time to talk walked into his sitting room to find the two young boys sitting on the couch. Upon further observation he realized that Harry was sitting on Draco’s lap, now fast asleep; Draco was just staring into the fire comforting the boy in his lap.

“I take it that you two talked?” asked Snape as he poured two drinks one for him and one for Draco and handed it to him before sitting in the arm chair closest to the young slytherin.

“yes, we talked.” answered Draco as he took the class from his boyfriends father.

“so you know?”

“yes, I know.”

“and what are you two going to do?” asked Snape as he took a drink from his tumbler.

“if Harry keeps the baby, I’m going to step up and be the father.” answered Draco.

“what do you mean if Harry keeps the baby?” asked Snape a bit confused as to why his son would destroy an innocent life.

“well we haven’t talked about much, he fell asleep before we could really talk about what we were going to do, which I think is a good thing, he needs his rest.” answered Draco.

“oh, well if you need anything, just let me know.” Severus got up to leave when he said, “do you wish for me to tell your dad?”

“no I’ll do it, but thinks anyway.” he said as he sat the glass on the table.
