This Is YOUR Life
A/N: I didn't abandon this story. I actually have been preoccupied with Pottersworld.net. It's this amazing RPG! Here's an update. It's short, but I have more in the works. Thank you for the reviews!!
Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
Yesterday is a promise that you’ve broken
Don’t close your eyes, don’t close your eyes
This is your life and today is all you’ve got now
Yeah, and today is all you’ll ever have
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t close your eyes
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose
(This is your Life-Switchfoot)
She woke early the next day to spend the day with the rest of the bridesmaid’s. There were five in all. Lavender, Luna, Parvati and Fleur had been chosen to be maids in waiting. It was spa day. Lavender had insisted on it. She said something along the lines of, Ginny needed to not stress herself out. Hermione actually welcome this little retreat. She needed to calm down.
When she flooed to the Burrow, everyone was already there and they were waiting for her. Lavender had appointed herself as the unofficial wedding coordinator much to Fleur’s dismay, but for the sake of Ginny’s happiness, she let it go.
“Oh my stars! Hermione!” Lavender ran to her from the kitchen and hugged her tightly.
“Hi Lav. I. Can’t. Breathe.” Hermione said gasping for air.
Lavender let her go. “Oh. Sorry. How are you?” Lavender eyed her carefully, then she broke out into a huge grin. “Oh congratulations honey!” She hugged her again.
“Oh what?” Hermione said suspiciously.
“On that baby.” Lavender pointed to Hermione’s stomach.
Lavender Brown was a girl of many talents. Not only was she physically beautiful, she was smart too. Beauty and brains, that’s what Hermione said of her. She was a bit of an empath as well. She had learned how to hone that skill, thanks to Professor Trelawney. She could feel what Hermione was feeling. She could feel her baby.
Lavender’s face dropped. “Oh No. That can’t be possible.” She said as Ginny stood next to Hermione.
“What’re you two yapping about?” Ginny asked them.
Lavender looked at her mortified, but quickly covered it up. “Hermione said that she didn’t think she’d be able to spend the day with us.” She covered.
“What? Why not?” Ginny exclaimed.
Hermione looked at Lavender and then back at Ginny, “I have to research some runes we found at the last site.” She lied smoothly. She was good at it.
“No work Hermione. You promised.” Ginny shook her head at Hermione.
She sighed, “Ok. I have to get back to work as soon as...” She couldn’t finish her sentence. Lavender dragged her into the kitchen
“Spill now!” Lavender demanded.
“What’re you talking about?” Hermione tensed up.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about! You slept with Harry.” she said through clenched teeth.
Hermione opened her eyes widely. She was going to lie, but Lavender would see right through it. She let out a deep breath, “Ok.”
“OK? That’s all you can say? Damn it Hermione, you slept with your best-friend’s fiancé.” Lavender started pacing.
“Don’t you think that after nine years....?” Lavender cut her off.
“What Hermione? Yes I know about your feelings for each other. Nearly everyone does, but I never thought that you would...”
“Neither did I. I told him I love him Lav. I don’t take that back. Now he’s gonna get married and have that life that he and I should’ve.” She said finally.
“And he loves you too. Any damn fool can see it, but Hermione....”
“Don’t ‘But Hermione’ me! After all this time, I couldn’t let him go without telling him how I feel. Do you think that I liked just waiting for him to come to me? It was pure torture! And Ginny, there’s something odd about her. She’s my friend, but I don’t think that she loves him.” Hermione said angrily.
Lavender sighed. “I love you Hermione. You’re like a sister to me. So I have to ask you, does Harry know?”
Hermione looked away from her, “No he doesn’t. He can’t know.”
“And how are you going to explain that to him? Planning on running away again?” Lavender asked softly.
“Yes, maybe. Not runaway, but work far away from all of this.” She said flailing her arms.
“Hermione, that’s as good as running away. I wish that I could tell you that I understand, but...how could you not use a contraceptive charm?”
“I wasn’t really thinking! It all happened so suddenly that I wasn’t really thinking about all of that. Caught up in the heat of the moment. I know that’s a poor excuse, but it’s the truth.” Hermione said quietly.
She looked as though she would burst into tears. Lavender hugged her tightly. “It’s ok Hermione. You have me.” She whispered into her hair.
Hermione relaxed and started to feel like herself again. “Thanks Lav. You’re a good friend.”
Lavender took her back outside and they watched Fleur’s sister, Gabrielle set the lights up in the Burrow. Hermione watched in amazement and wonder. She loved magic. She couldn’t imagine a life without it.
Ginny had grabbed the girls to a tent set up on the far side of the lawn. This was where they were going to get all glamorous. Hermione hated it. She really did abhor it. She didn’t want to be there. She faked a smile and went along with it.
It wasn’t until three hours later that the girls felt hungry. They had caught up on their lives and boys and everything in between. It was like being back at Hogwarts again.
