Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Severus swept into the laboratory, his gaze moving over the students crammed into their benches. Their own fault in his opinion. And the day would grow longer before it got better. He planned on making their lives hell until he talked to Draco and assured himself his godson was safe. He glared at one and all, sparing none though he was not as harsh when he looked at Potter or Granger. Saving his evil looks for the others.
“Well, now, I must say you all look decidedly uncomfortable. It shall be a long year for you all, I think. Mr. Weasley, what is aconite used for?”
Ron swallowed once, collecting himself before standing. He’d begged Hermione to help him study. Not to give him the answers, but to help him find them. He wasn’t doing it to show up Snape or make Gryffindor look good. He was doing it to make Draco proud, “Aconite is also called Wolf’s bane sir, and is the primary ingredient in Wolf’s bane potion.”
Snape was momentarily surprised but his face remained impassive, “And it’s use?”
“To treat the dementia of lycanthropy during their change under the full moon.” Ron was flushed and nervous but he was completely right.
Nodding, his respect for the impulsive Gryffindor now higher than contempt, “Correct. Sit down.” Ron
all but fell into his chair, breathing for the first time. Harry didn’t move but wanted very much to turn and pat Ron on the shoulder, “I must say that Gryffindor has surprised me...tell me, Mr. Weasley, how is it you knew that answer?”
Swallowing, “It was in the summer work, sir. Professor Dumbledore said he was going to review it Wednesday so I wanted to study. Oh...” He ducked to his pack and reappeared with a parchment, “And to hand in this, sir.”
Snatching the parchment, “And what is this, Mr. Weasley?”
“The answers for the incorrect ones I gave on Monday, sir. Professor Dumbledore assigned it.”
There were rustles and Severus looked right, then left, seeing students reappear with parchments. Every remedial student. He could barely suppress his surprise but collected himself, “Mr. Potter. Collect the assignment and place them on my desk. We will see how well the rest have studied your summer work.”

Snape put his head in his hand and shook his head. It was unbelievable to him. Every one of them knew Draco wasn’t going to be here on Wednesday, yet the assignment was completed, and done well, just to please him. The boy had done very well indeed, “Don’t look so down, Sev. We’ll start to think your puppy died.”
Severus jerked up, staring as Draco shuffled into the room. He was around the desk and hugging his godson without thinking, having decided to skip lunch, “Draco! What in the world-by Merlin you should be in bed, boy!” He was horrified, his godson paler than he was.
Giggling, “I know. But I was getting the impression you weren’t coming to see me so...”
Pulling back, “Draco, it’s the middle of the damn day!” Sighing, “I was coming before supper.”
Snorting, “Sure you were...” His head tilted a little before his eyebrows raised, “You’ve kept them busy today.”
Shaking his head, “Oh, no, that is your doing?”
Draco looked up before shuffling over, seeing Harry’s name on one parchment and Ronald’s on another. They finished their assignment? Wow. Spinning around slowly, “How did they do?”
His godson looked so excited Severus wouldn’t keep him in suspense, “Almost flawlessly. They picked up more than the standard class and I’m tempted to promote them.”
Pointing a finger, “Don’t you dare take my students.”
Smirking, guiding his godson by his shoulders and murmuring, “I wouldn’t dream of it. Potter and Weasley are all your’s.”
“And your students?”
Smirk turning evil, “Abysmally. I must say they looked envious that the others had you as a professor. And it’s back to bed with you.”
Digging in his heels weakly, “Not you, too. Poppy and Hermione are bad enough...bullies, the both of them, convinced Albus I need bed rest all the time. I’m bored!” Though his claims to being fit were stunted by a rather jaw splitting yawn.
“Indeed.”
“Godfather! Two days! I’ve been trapped in that ruddy bed for two bloody days!”
“You will not talk yourself out of bed, Draco, now hush. And unless you wish to be carried you had best start walking.” Draco huffed petulantly but allowed himself to be shooed back up the stairs and over to the Hospital wing. Had he really walked this far? He didn’t remember feeling this tired. Severus had just opened the doors to be treated by Pomfrey absolutely beside herself, “Madam Pomfrey, I believe I have found your escaped prisoner.”
Poppy put her hands on her hips while Draco glared up at Severus, “Draco! Bed! Immediately!”
Grumbling, “Yeah, yeah...”
He jumped from a firm tap to his bottom, staring at his godfather with large eyes. It’s not that it hurt because it hadn’t. Sev had just never really reprimanded him before other than verbal warnings, “Do not be snide, now mind your mediwitch.” He looked down and sighed, shuffling back to bed and letting Poppy fuss over him. If his godfather was being stern about it there’s no telling what his father would do to him. Best to just mind. Severus had a small smile, watching as Draco rolled his eyes a little, snuggling into his pillow and soon fast asleep.

Draco glanced over his Friday classes, smirking to himself to realize he was going to have his Godfather for Occulemency training. At the same time Medical Magic, so that was Madam Pomfrey. Although if he had to spend the entire class time cleaning bed pans he and Albus were having words. At least the first day hadn’t been like that, he and Hermione learning the beginning charms for diagnosis.
Now he was off to a class called Languages, several books tucked in his pack and Hermione walking next to him. She reached up and pet Viola sleeping on top of his head, “You’re getting really good at the time turner.”
Smiling, walking a bit slower than normal, “Thanks.”
She wrapped a careful around about his shoulders, “How are you feeling? This is your first day back, isn’t it?”
Nodding just a little, “Pomfrey said no more than half a day so I can’t attend House Relations or Double Defense Against the Physical Arts this week...Albus is watching me like a hawk. And I’m feeling alright, just a bit tired is all.”
“Not to worry about that, House Relations was postponed until next week.”
Smirking, “At least I didn’t miss something this week.”
“Just enjoy it while it lasts. Come Monday I’m sure they’ll be running you through the ringer just as you like.”
Glaring at her lightly, “You’d be complaining if it was you in my place.”
Shrugging, “Yes.”
He scoffed, “Then why can’t I?”
“Because pouting makes you look cute?” He froze to stare at her and she tugged him along, “Not in the dating sense but in the aww...the little firstie needs a snuggle, sense.” Wrinkling his nose at her, eyes flashing mischievously at her giggling, “Come on. We don’t want to be late.”
