A New Hope

Chapter 12

Written By: MorningStar

Harry awoke the next morning to an empty bed. He stretched and headed for the bathroom, mentally reminding himself to talk with Severus some more about Sirius. He was curious to know if Damien knew his other father and how good of a father his godfather was. He also wanted to talk to Severus about the test that Dumbledore had mentioned in his letter.

He hoped that the baby he was caring belonged to Draco but he was afraid too. Afraid that the young Slytherin would leave him, afraid of raising a child alone, afraid of his child never having the chance to know its father. Harry put those thoughts into the back of his mind as he walked down to breakfast.

*

He entered the dining room to find Severus and Damien eating. “Where‘s Draco?” the Gryffindor questioned as he took his seat at the table.

Severus looked up from the paper he was reading to greet Harry, “Good morning to you too. Draco said that he had business to take care of and would be back later.”

“Oh,” Harry replied as he took a seat and poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice.

“Did you have plans for today, Harry?” Severus asked as he folded his paper and sat it on the table beside his plate.

Harry looked up from his drink to respond, “Not really, I was meaning to ask you about something though, if you had time.”

Damien still sat, eating breakfast quietly. “Sure, what‘s on your mind?” Saverus questioned as he handed his son a napkin so that he could wipe his face off when he was through.

Harry hesitated for a moment watching the young child before to turned toward his professor, “Professor Dumbledore mentioned a test that Poppy could do, he wrote that you’d know more about it?”

Severus nodded his head but didn’t answer the Gryffindor, instead he waited patently for his son to finish eating and when he did Severus told him that he could go upstairs and play and that he’d be up to check on him in a little while.

After Damien left, the potions master stood and asked Harry to follow him into his study where he preceded to look for a book on one of the bookshelves. Harry didn’t know exactly what was going on but he took a seat in one of the chairs and watched his teacher look.

After what seemed like forever Severus pulled a book from the bookcase and handed it to Harry. “You should find what you need in there, feel free to keep the book as long as you wish. I feel that you may need it in months to come.”

Harry turned the tomb over in his hands, the front and back were plain black and on the side of the binding a title was printed; ‘A to Z, all you need to know about male pregnancy’.

After placing the book on the corner of the large desk, Harry turned to talk to Severus, whom was now seated behind the desk in his usual chair.

“Thank you, professor,” the golden boy said, “Umm, would you mind if I asked about Sirius?”

The dark haired man watched the boy for a minute before answering, “He was your godfather, Harry. You have as much right as anyone to ask questions about him.”

“Was he a good father?” Harry questioned before even thinking about it.

Snape nodded, “for the time that he was with us, yes. He took very good care of Damien, especially when I could not.”

“So Damien knows his other father?”

Leaning back in his chair Severus sighed, “Harry, most children don‘t remember anything before the age of three. I try to keep things of Sirius‘ around to remind Damien of his father but I fear that he doesn‘t have a clue. When he gets older, maybe he‘ll ask about him and I will do my best to help him understand that his father loved him very much.”

Harry seemed a bit taken back by the words that his potions master had spoken about his godfather but he tried not to show it. He hadn’t anymore questions for Snape, so he sat back and relaxed as the room fell into silence.

AN: I know it’s not the best chapter in the history of chapters but I hope that you all enjoyed it and that I moved on with the story a bit. Can you guess what Harry wants to do or what Draco is doing? Review pleas.
