JUNO\'S ASSISTANCE
The Golden Trio\'s mouths were agape. Malfoy? Seriously, DRACO MALFOY? NO WAY...
\"NO WAY!!!\" Ron said his nose practically smoking.
\"Yes way, Mr. Weasley.\" Aberforth said, putting back his monocle.
\"But this is Malfoy we\'re talking about!\" Ron retorted.
\"Oh no Mr. Weasley this is not young Malfoy, no... This person is a figment of
your imagination!!!\" Aberforth joked as he waved his hands in a theatrical way.
Malfoy smirked at the Headmaster\'s antics.
\"Please sir,\" Hermione said, putting a hand in front of Ron. \"Would you kindly
explain why of all people, we should be thanking him?\" She asked.
\"As I told you Ms. Granger,\" Aberforth said tiredly. \"He informed me that Lord
Voldemort was attacking you three.\" He said.
\"I don\'t believe it...\" Ron said.
\"Neither do I Mr. Weasley,\" Aberforth said. \"But when a certain someone who has
platinum blond hair, gray eyes and looks exactly like Draco Malfoy comes to your
room and tells you that Lord Voldemort is taking a walk along the park of Godric\'s
Hollow and starts attacking the Golden Trio,\" He explained. \"You\'d believe very
odd things indeed.\" He finished.
\"Maybe he\'s an impostor!\" Ron screeched.
\"Oh how thick can you get weasel?!\" Draco, for the first time, said.
\"I can assure you three that the person you see behind me is one-hundred percent,
vitamin enriched and calcium fortified Draco Malfoy.\" Aberforth said with a tone
of finality.
Harry was still stunned. Him? of all the wizards who could have informed the new
Headmaster it had to be him? Dammit!!! Now I owe him!!! Harry thought.
\"I don\'t know what to say...\" Hermione breathed.
\"Ever heard of the ingenious phrase called \'Thank you\' Granger?\" Malfoy said.
Ron looked like he would rather have died than to say thank you.
\"Thanks.\" Harry said.
Ron and Hermione looked at him.
\"At least Potter\'s got some sense fo sanity left in him, although its hard to
believe.\" Malfoy said.
\"Ever heard of the ingenious phrase called \'Your welcome\' Malfoy?\" Harry said,
his anger quickly rising.
\"Yes I have,\" Malfoy spat. \"But don\'t count on me using such fine words on you.\"
He said.
\"Stop it or I\'ll hex you both!\" Aberforth said, ocean-blue eyes flashing.
Harry and Draco were staring into each other\'s eyes. Pure, deep, vile, loathing
was clearly being exchanged between them.
\"Many wizards have gone blind because of intense staring into the unkown...\" The
Headmaster said as he turned to the fountain.
Harry and Draco quickly turned away from each other at the Headmaster\'s warning.
\"Now then...\" Aberforth said, flexing his fingers. \"We wait until everyone else
leaves and then we take care of this...\" He said referring to the statue.
Most of the wizards from the Ministry were around the fallen giant positioning
themselves and laying a hand on the body, others were scrounging the area for the
other giant which escaped with it\'s back ablaze.
Scrimgeour walked towards Aberforth.
\"Well, that thing is dead,\" Scrimgeour said as he jerked his head towards the
giant.
\"It\'s not a thing Rufus,\" Aberforth corrected. \"Even though he was an enemy he
was still a living creature. I advise you take the body back to the giants.\" He
said.
\"Are you mad?!\" Scrimgeour asked his appearance looking more lion-like.
\"I\'m crazy not mad,\" Aberforth corrected. \"Those two are very different things. I
will tell you now that it would be better we showed respect to the giants, basic
rules of war Rufus, pay respects to the dead even if of an enemy\'s.\" He said.
\"And what makes you think that they\'ll take that gesture?!\" Rufus replied heatedly.
\"What reason do they have to hurt you Rufus?\" Aberforth asked. \"I assure you the
giants are not mad killers and they know respect when they see one, it is the
actions of outsiders that cause them to kill.\" Aberforth said.
Scrimgeour looked like he had been holding on to a very vicious reply, instead
he asked.
\"What are you still doing here anyway?\"
\"Is it any of your business?\" Aberforth answered cooly.
\"It is the ministry\'s business to ensure the safety of wizards and muggles alike.\"
Scrimgeour replied.
\"The ministry was rather late wasn\'t it?\" Aberforth said.
\"Only because we were not informed even though it was the proper thing to do!\"
The minister said with a snarl.
\"Why inform when it would have been better to act at once?\" Aberforth said.
\"Are you saying that the Ministry is incapable of such acts?!\" Scrimgeour asked.
\"The words came out of your mouth, not mine.\" Aberforth said. \"I and the others
that have come here tonight are just doing a wizard\'s first and most important
duty and that is saving endangered lives.\" He said.
There was silence between them. Hermione looked horrified witnessing a row
between the two men in front of her, Ron looked like he was watching a really
cool show, Malfoy wasn\'t paying attention.
Harry had never seen someone talk like this to the minister before, He always
regarded a certain degree of respect for the minister even thoug hat some times
his anger was crying to get out. Aberforth, on the other hand, didn\'t seem to
mind, he did not fear saying what was on his mind, he was very outspoken... Very
different from his brother.
\"Minister, we are ready,\" A wizard said. \"To where shall we take the body sir?\"
Scrimgeour\'s face looked like it had been through a storm. He was silent for a
moment.
\"We go to the mountains, we take the body to the giants.\" The Minister said.
\"Jolly good then.\" Aberforth said as he shot a smile to the Minister.
The Minister just scowled and turned. After all the ministry officials went in
an laid their hands on the body of the giant, there was a loud crack and they
vanished.
\"Were already clear here sir,\" Tonks said as she approached \"What next?\"
\"Anyone wounded?\" Aberforth asked as he paced around the fountain.
\"No sir, we were able to hold them back quite effectively.\" Tonks replied.
\"Very well, go back to Grimmauld place and wait for the four of us there,\" The
Headmaster said.
\"Shouldn\'t they be taken...\"
\"No, they stay with me...\" Aberforth said. \"We have something to finish up here.\"
He said.
\"I\'ll be sending the others home then?\" Tonks asked.
\"Yes, yes, I just need the people for the meeting.\" Aberforth answered.
\"Oh, Valencia said that she will send the other Veela to their hovel.\" Tonks said.
Tonks was about to leave when the Headmaster called out.
\"And by the way, please tell Charlie Weasley to come here.\"
Tonks then left. after a while the Veela started to take flight as the witches
and wizards on the ground apparated. Charlie was running towards them.
\"Finally...\" Aberforth said turning to the fountain and examining it further.
\"You called sir?\" Charlie asked.
\"Yes,\" Aberforth said. \"Kindly bring Juno here.\" He instructed.
Hermione\'s eyes went round in surprise, Draco looked at the Headmaster as
though he was an unearthly being. Ron and Harry looked confused.
What\'s the matter? Harry thought. Who\'s Juno?
\"Uhh, sir... Are you sure?\" Charlie asked.
\"You heard me Charlie.\" Aberforth said.
Charlie nodded and apparated.
The Headmaster walked around the circular fountain, stroking his long silver
beard, he would ocassionally stop at one point and look intently at the statue
then take his wand and tap it on his nose, his eyes intent on concentration. He
then flicked his wand at the statue.
A sound similar to a thousand bells emanated from the statue.
\"Hmm...\" The Headmaster said. \"Three then...\"
\"Sir?\" Harry started. \"Will we destroy the statue now?\" He asked.
\"Destroying a horcrux, let alone an artifact like this is very hard Harry,\" The
Headmaster replied. \"Usually a horcrux is guarded by a shield done by the owner,
after that, there is another layer which is the horcrux itself, because the spell
is done to safeguard one\'s ripped soul.\" He paused. \"In this case, We are looking
at three shields, the horcrux, the ward erected by Voldemort around the statue
and the natural protection of the statue strengthened by time and made none other
by Godric Gryffindor himself.\" He said.
\"So...\"
\"So destroying this statue on our own is but a dream...\" Aberforth said. \"That is
why I told Charlie to bring Juno.\"
\"Who\'s Juno?\" Ron asked.
\"You\'ll meet her soon...\" Aberforth said as he rolled the sleeves of his robes.
\"Let\'s remove Voldemort\'s ward then...\"
The Headmaster stepped right by the edge of the fountain. He started moving his
wand as though drawing wierd shapes with it, the tip of his wand started to glow,
leaving trails of light in the air. The headmaster started muttering words in a
language Harry did not know, though Hermione looked like she understood and
knew everything the Headmaster was doing.
Aberforth then stopped the movement of his wand and slowly pointed in directly at
the statue, the trails were slithering around the fountain, thin threads of light
circling the horcrux like countless fireflies. Then the lights stopped and as the
Headmaster brought his wand down, the lights shot like bullets at the statue all
at the same time. Harry felt like the air around them was being sucked in towards
the fountain, to his surprise all four of them were pushed back by a huge shockwave.
Aberforth remained unmoved. He seemed to be reading an invisible message.
\"Well I\'ll be...\" Aberforth said. \"Seriously he can\'t be that evil... Ahhh who am
I kidding...\" He said.
Harry and the others walked back to the fountain, they were pushed a good three
meters.
\"Voldemort wants something in exchange for the breaking of his ward.\" Aberforth
said as he withdrew a silver dagger from his inside pocket.
Harry remembered the late Dumbledore\'s sacrifice with his blood at the cave.
\"Sir!\" Harry said.
\"Don\'t worry Harry blood can be replenished.\" Aberforth said as he made a long
cut along his left arm. He then waved his wand at the dripping blood.
The blood from his arm slithered like a snake towards the statue, coiling around
Gryffindor\'s image. More blood started to flow from Aberforth\'s arm. The Headmaster
didn\'t stop, he still kept the blood going until the whole statue was bathed in
his blood.
That was when he stopped. He then closed the wound with a wave of his wand.
Harry immediately held the old man\'s arms as he gingerly stepped down the
fountain\'s edge.
\"Thank you my boy,\" Aberforth said, his face was starting to whiten. \"I must say
Voldemort is quite exaggerated in terms of pain.\" He said.
\"Are you alright sir?\" Harry said. The headmaster\'s skin was becoming cold.
\"Yes,\" Aberforth replied as he took a vial from his inside pocket. \"I thought this
would become handy.\" He opened the vial and drank the crimson potion inside.
The Headmaster closed his eyes and started muttering under his breath.
\"Blood replenishing potion Harry,\" Aberforth said as he straightened up. \"I see
that one of the shields is down.\"
Harry looked at the statue and saw shards of previously invisible glass vanish
into thin air.
\"Two more.\" Aberforth said as he started to walk around the fountain again.
After a while Aberforth stopped and clicked his tongue.
\"It\'s my guess,\" He started. \"That if we destroy the shield Gryffindor made around
this statue, we also remove the protection around Godric\'s Hollow.\"
The three of them were startled. Draco looked like he could care less.
\"What protection sir?\" Harry asked.
\"Protection from natural calamities,\" Aberforth said. \"Earthquakes, landslides,
volcanic activity, floods, famine, drought, all those things.\" He explained.
\"Is such protection possible sir?\" Hermione asked, she was clearly amazed.
\"If you observe the map of Godric\'s Hollow you will see that the very center of
the village is situated right here in this fountain.\" Aberforth said. \"What the
great Gryffindor did was focus all the elements\' energies into one single point
causing a tremendous wave of force to envelop the whole area.\"
Hermione looked like she had just found a treasure chest full of gold.
\"That point of course is this statue,\" Aberforth said. \"The energy attracted to
the statue is distributed evenly through the outer rings of the circle, and with
each distribution, the protection strengthens and the magic contained inside the
statue is continually refined enabling a force that seals off the village from
earthly calamities.\" He explained.
Aberforth looked at them and saw that only Hermione fully understood.
\"To put it simply, the magic situated in this area balances and enhances nature\'s
activity so that nothing would fall out of order.\" Aberforth said.
\"But only an Earth Mage would be able to do that.\" Draco said.
\"My dear boy, we are talking of one of the strongest wizards that ever walked this
earth,\" Aberforth said. \"Of course Gryffindor would be able to do that, and yes he
was the last Earth Mage ever recorded.\" He said as he faced the statue again.
Harry\'s head was buzzing. How in the world will the Headmaster destroy a shield
that strong?
\"I will be needing all of your help.\" Aberforth said.
The four teens looked at him.
\"We won\'t be able to break the shield,\" The Headmaster said. \"But we can stop the
flow of energy rushing towards the statue for about a few minutes, that would be
enough time for us to get the Horcrux.\" He said.
\"How do we do that sir?\" Hermione asked.
\"I need you to stand,\" Aberforth said as he waved his wand, five shining spots
appeared at the ground some two meters away from the fountain. \"At the channel
where the energy flows.\"
The Harry Ron and Hermione went towards the spots around the fountain, Draco
followed wordlessly the Headmaster went last.
\"Point your wands towards the ground.\" Aberforth instructed. the four followed.
\"I want you to focus on my voice since you do not know the chant, I want you to
listen very closely, do not let go of your wands.\"
The Headmaster started to chant the same unfamiliar words. Aberforth was chanting
loudly, his voice echoing through the park. Harry felt his wand vibrating very
furiously as though trying to break free. a few more seconds, more chanting, the
wands were continuing to vibrate, Harry was worried they might break.
The chanting stopped.
The wands glowed scarlet, and then suddenly white hot lasers shot from the five
wand tips cutting through the ground.
\"Let go of your wands kids,\" Aberforth said as he did with his own.
The rest followed. Their wands continued to shoot the laser as each floated in
midair.
\"We\'re guaranteed five minutes.\" Aberforth said.
Harry looked and saw that the statue was glowing.
\"There\'s the horcrux...\" Aberforth said. Just then a resounding crack echoed.
\"Headmaster!\" Charlie\'s voice called out. \"She\'s here!\"
To Harry\'s surprise, A defeaning roar filled the air.
\"A Dragon.\" Harry said.
And indeed it was. Seventy feet long and standing twenty feet high with tough
orange-brownish scales, sharp silver claws and spikes forming a crown on its head,
continuing through its back showing sharp silver ridges and ending in a scythe-
like weapon at the very tip of its tail, with strong wide wings and menacing,
regal-looking yellow eyes was the dragon named Juno.
Juno roared again, showing its powerful silver teeth. The trees shook violently.
\"Beautiful isn\'t she?\" Aberforth said.
Harry, despite himself, agreed silently with the headmaster. Juno\'s scales were
shiny unlike other dragons, it was as though someone polished the dragon\'s hide,
there was also something about the dragon that showed royalty.
\"Headmaster, please talk to her she got very angry when she was roused from
sleep!\" Charlie said.
Harry noticed, there were about twenty wizards around Juno... The odd thing was
the dragon was not tied by ropes nor bound by chains... It was free from those
things. Harry gulped nervously.
Aberforth approached the dragon and stared into its eyes. The dragon thwacked its
tail at the ground causing the wizards to jump and the earth to shake.
\"My apologies great Juno...\" Aberforth said as he bowed low.
Harry wanted to yank out the Headmaster out of the Dragon\'s way, he was showing
his back to the dragon and he was worried the beast would swipe its sharp claws
at the old man.
\"I wish to seek for your assistance my queen, for only your might will be able to
help us.\" Aberforth said looking at the Dragon staright in the eye.
Queen? Harry thought.
Smoke came out of Juno\'s nostrils. The dragon seemed to be thinking, she growled
low and nodded.
\"Thank you my queen,\" Aberforth said as he again, bowed low. \"If you would be so
kind my queen, please destroy that statue with your noble fire...\" Aberforth said.
Juno walked forward, so did the wizards but they kept themselves at a distance.
The dragon surveyed the statue, it then withdrew it\'s head and raised it high.
She took in a deep breath. Juno\'s silver spikes started to shine, her whole body
emitted white sparks, her eyes became silver, she spread out her wings wide and
opened her mouth.
A sound like a grand explosion filled Harry\'s ears as bluish-white flame streaked
out from the dragon\'s mouth, and even though all of them were well away from the
fire, Harry still felt the intense scorching heat. Aberforth was all the while
beside the dragon.
Harry dared to look at the statue. The fire was so bright, Harry could only make
out the outline of Gryffindors image as something was forced outside of it, it
looked like black smoke.
Aberforth patted the dragon\'s hide, Juno withdrew her breath and blew once more,
this time at the black smoke. The smoke started to dissapear, a loud moan came
from the smoke, an inhuman, pained moan... the smoke seemed to be hurt as the
flame engulfed it whole. a blinding flash followed as the smoke entirely vanished.
The dragon stopped breathing fire. Aberforth stepped in front of the dragon.
\"My sincerest gratitude to you my queen,\" Aberfort hsaid as he bowed low. \"I am
forever in your debt.\"
The dragon raised it\'s head royally and folded it\'s wings.
\"Please allow the wizards to assist you back to your wondrous home.\" Aberforth
said.
The dragon growled low and nodded. The wizards started to surround Juno closer,
they extended their arms towards her but didn\'t touch. Ther was a crack and they
all apparated.
\"What took you anyway?\" Aberforth asked Charlie.
\"Well, Juno didn\'t want to come,\" Charlie said. \"She got angry and sprayed fire
even before I got near her, but then when I told her you wanted to see her, she
obliged.\" He said.
\"Well at least it is done, thank you Charlie, kindly go to Grimmauld Place.\" the
Headmaster said.
Charlie left.
Aberforth walked back towards the fountain, he chanted for a short while and the
wands dropped at the ground. He gestured for all of them to take theirs.
\"Now, all of that is done,\" Aberforth said as he pocketed his wand. \"We shall
also go to Grimmauld Place for you will be joining the meeting...\" He said.
Harry took one last look at Gryffindor\'s statue, it wasn\'t burnt, there was no
sign of damage at all, although the whole fountain was smoking and the water
was already steam.
\"That\'s how powerful Gryffindor\'s magic is,\" Aberforth said to them. \"Even the
great dragon\'s fire is not enough to fully destroy his statue.\" He said. \"But,
that thing will be smoking until next week. and it\'s hot enough to melt steel.\"
The four of them stared at him.
\"I am afraid that\'s how dangerous it is...\" The Headmaster said as he waved his
wand. \"I have removed the charm around this park, we should get going now.\"
The three of them gathered round.
\"Mr. Malfoy please take my arm.\" Aberforth said, Malfoy did so. \"The headquarters
of The Order of the Phoenix may be found at number twelve, Grimmauld Place,
London.\" He said to him.
There was a crack and all of them apparated.
