Chapter nine

AN: Warning there is going to be quite a lot of angst in this story. But I promise it won't out weight the romance and humour. I'm determined to redeem James and Lily. But that won't reveal it's self until much later on. Some of you may think James and Lily don't deserve to be redeemed. I realise they were the ones who started the ball rolling when they left, but they were mostly likely unaware that Harry would actually survive. Remember it wasn't them who shoved him under the stair or starved him. They weren't the ones who killed or harmed the people he cared about. That was all down to the Dursley's and Voldermort. I realise they were the ones who left the opening for all those things to happen but they weren't to know any of that would happen. I want to use this story to show people that people deserve a second chance even James and Lily. I guess some people are more forgiving then others. Ok enough of this lets get on with the story get ready for angst galore. And if people have a problem with how this story is being written then don't read it no one is making you do something you don't want to do, remember that. Flames will not be bothered with; they are for toasting, for example marshmallows.

Harry/Draco/Draconia
Chapter Nine: I Don't Have The Right

A week before Harry and Draco were due to marry, Dumbledore called both James and Lily to his office, as soon as they entered and took at seat, and Minerva sat in the corner. Albus began. "So how has everything been since your return?"

James sighed and began unaware that he had been followed under his own invisibility cloak by the three people he had tried to not over crowed over the last week or so, those men were Harry, Sirius and Remus.

"As to be expected Albus, I honestly didn't expect any less or more from them. They after all are the victims here, Harry especially. I and Lily are the ones that are disrupting their lives not the other way round."

Albus sighed and asked "So I guess I'm correct to presume things between the five of you are some what tense and awkward?" James snorted mirthlessly as he replied "That Albus is an understatement if I ever heard one. Things are so tense you cut the atmosphere with a bloody knife Albus.

But I assure you I am more then aware we deserve a hell of a lot worse then what we've currently been subjected to. I wouldn't have expected anything less after what we did."

Lily sighed "It's difficult seeing my baby boy all grown up, knowing I have absolute no right to expect anything from him or the others. Helping plan my sons and future daughter in laws wedding is a pleasure that a mother is meant earn. And I assure you that right no longer rightfully belongs to me, I gave up that honour the night I cowardly abandoned my son.

The night I allowed my best friend too take over my place and end up dieing instead of me, when it should be me that is dead and not her. She played the role of Harry's mother better then I ever did.

Just because I was the one to carry for nine moths and go though almost twelve hours of labour, doesn't me I have the right to referred to myself or call myself his mother.

That role in the end had belonged to Morgan she was the one who gave her live and love to save Harry.

I know words don't me a lot in this instant, Words are cheap, but they are no less true. Words can never make up or take away the suffering an innocent child had to go through. I f I could take the pain and make it my own I would in a heart beat. But unfortunately I know I can not, however much I desperately want to."

Albus commented "So will the two of you be attending the wedding along with Acacia?" James sighed sadly and replied "Do you honestly think that's wise Albus?"

Minerva spoke up for the first time and asked "Do you think you deserve the honour of seeing your son marry and partake in what will hopefully be the happiest day of his young life?"

James shook his head wearily "No Minerva I don't think, I absolutely know I sure as hell don't deserve such an honour. I don't even deserve the title as his father. Sirius or Remus has more rights then I do.

They might have not been there until his third year, but the point is that they were there when he needed them the most.

Harry would have had his godfather all along. That's my fault if I had not left like the coward that I know I am, then Sirius would not have suffered alone, left to rot in a prison cell for a crime he did not commit."

"So what are your plans? Do you intend to return to Ireland, or do you plan to stay in Scotland or London?" Minerva asked.

James replied "We're moving into Potter manor this afternoon. We're done running; it's time to face the consequences of our past actions. I have been offered my current job as an unspeakable at the ministry at the London branch. I arranged for a transfer as soon as you had called for me and Lily to return.

Weather this turns out for the best or the worst, I know for sure my days of running way from my responsibilities are a thing of the past."

Lily added "I've accepted a position at St. Mungos. And Acacia loves Hogwarts and Being in Gryffindor, she has already made quite a few new friends."

Minerva added "You are welcome to stay on here for a while if you wish to do so." Lily shook her in a negative gesture. James answered “We have more then out stayed our welcome; we wish to no longer disrupt everyone’s routine. We don't want to over crowd the others or make them feel suffocated.

If and when they ever want us in their lives again we will be waiting. I refuse to try and force my way back into their lives, I have no right. I leave the decision up to them."

James added "Anyway If we are no longer needed, I have some business to attend concerning a certain Potions master who thinks he can hold my childish and selfish and uncalled for behaviour to wards him against my"

He trailed of and swallowed as he continued "If he thinks he can hold my behaviours against Harry. Harry may be a perfect replica of me, but he is without a doubt ten times the man I will ever be."

James bid both Albus and Minerva a good day and left the office with his wife behind him. Once James and Lily were gone Albus sighed "You three can reveal yourselves now." The cloak was instantly removed, revealing a very sheepish looking Harry, Sirius and Remus.

All three men looked stunned and weary. They didn't know how to deal with everything they had just heard. They wanted to hate James and Lily, they really did. But it was proving more difficult all the time.

But by no mean had they fully forgiven James and Lily for what they did. Too much had happened for things to simply be mended over night. It would take time.

Harry sighed clearly tiered and frustrated. "They're not going to attend my wedding are they?" He asked. Albus sighed “I honestly don't know Harry; they feel they do not deserve to share such a special moment with you. Only time will tell weather they feel they deserve a second chance." Indeed only time would tell.
