Where Do We Go From Here?
Final Chapter
Draco\'s eyes were no longer swollen shut, but his pride was permanently damaged. He had a new reason to hate Harry, and spent his time in the infirmary stewing over it. But what to do about it? He knew he couldn\'t push Harry\'s buttons for a bit, but he also knew that he would be expected to do so at every opportunity. This would indeed be a tricky game, one he may not win if he doesn\'t take care what he says or does.
“Father was so angry with me,” he said to Crabbe and Goyle, “that he is threatening to make me stay for the summer holiday as well.” He didn\'t know what was more embarrassing, being caught indulging in his greatest display of power over another person, or having his father know he was beaten senseless by a mudblood. A girl at that.
He loved the power he could hold over others, few as they may be now, and could see no other vice in the world that could compare to having the ability to order someone of the same sex to pleasure him. He didn\'t even like boys, but he felt compelled to experiment with power. He wanted to know if he could break a subordinate, to force him into submission of the worst degree. It had been working rather well for several days when he was seen by Ron, ruining all the time he had put into breaking Goyle\'s will.
“Your dad would be even more angry if he knew what we were doing.” Goyle was trying to get Draco to see the good side of this, but made things worse instead. No sooner had the last word fallen from his mouth when he felt severe pain wrack his entire body.
“Crucio!” Draco did it a second time to be sure his point was taken. “Take care what you say. One day it will be the last thing anyone hears from you.”
Crabbe stared in amazement. His eyes saw what happened, but his brain couldn\'t comprehend it. Draco had mastered the Crucio curse after all. How did he do it in such a short time? He didn\'t care about the how, as much as he worried that he may be next. He understood the point made here, and remained silent.

Hermione was running as fast as she could. Her first day back to classes, potions at that, and she had been sidetracked disciplining first years. What was she thinking? Being a prefect was a large responsibility, and once in a while she found one way or another to let it become a priority over being on time.
She rounded the corner of the stairs, now on the dungeon level when she ran into someone and fell flat on her backside. She was able to save the potions kit from certain destruction, but her books had just been given a lesson in on the relationship between thrust and gravity as they skidded across the floor after a good flight from her arms.
“Miss Granger, if you are to be late to my class, see to it you do not make a fool of me doing so. Five points from Gryffindor for not having the intelligence to slow down before turning corners.”
She knew that voice all too well. Not looking up, she began reaching for her things. “Sorry Professor, I was sidetracked by some first years when-”
“I did not ask, nor do I care to suffer the excuses of a sixth year student, prefect at that, about why she is still easily distracted by first years. Five more points for making the Potions Master late.”
As she continued picking up her books, she saw Snape pick up the gift Ron had given her. She tried to take it before he could see what it was, but was instead penalized another five points for “having the audacity to attempt snatching something from a professor, and another five points for the actual attempt.”
“What are you doing with one of these?” He stared down his long nose at her.
“It was a gift. Please, professor, may I have it back now?”
Holding it out, he held tightly as she tried to pull it from his hand. “You would do well, Miss Granger, to lock this away until you know how to use it properly. Teaching it to fly does not constitute proper use, nor does it show any real interest on your part to learn about it.”
His last words stung the core of her being. She always did her best to learn anything she could, and she knew that he knew it.
“Since I am feeling generous,” he curled his lip as he continued. “I will give you one chance to make it to your seat before I begin today\'s lesson. If you are not, Gryffindor will suffer another five points at your hands today.”
She turned quickly and ran through the door, making her way to her seat when she saw a piece of chalk writing down the steps for today\'s potion. Before sitting, she looked to the door to see Snape writing in the air with his wand. Once he noticed that she had seen him, he stopped, entered the room with a slamming door, and spoke without looking at her as he continued to the front of the room.
He picked up the chalk, and continued writing on the board as he spoke. “Five points Miss Granger, for not being seated prior to the beginning of my lesson, and five more for not knowing after five and a half years that I never feel generous.”
She realized that this was going to be the longest second half of any year yet. She was in love, and couldn\'t do or say anything about it with Ron. No relieving stress with him until this term was finished. Not until...
“Summer holiday.” She had whispered it aloud, and hoped Snape had not heard. Thoughts were already racing in her head making plans for the summer ahead.

Thanks for reading. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I have begun a sequel, but before I get fully into writing it, I would hope to see your thoughts on my style and such, in case I need to work on it some more.
