The Big Surprise
The morning of Ginny and Harry’s wedding was perfect. If you thought rain was perfect.
“My wedding is ruined!” Ginny was almost in tears as she looked out the window. “Ruined!”
Hermione pulled her away from the window and sat her back down. “Ginny, your wedding is not ruined. Yes, it is unfortunate, but it does not change the fact that you are getting married.”
***
The door opened and Molly bustled in. “Ginny, honey, we need to get going. Everything is waiting at Hogwarts. Come on now. We’ll do your hair and make-up there.”
Ginny glanced outside again. “All right, ok. I’m ready. Hermione, you’re going to meet us there?”
Hermione nodded. “I’m going to stop by the house and get mine and Steph’s things. We’ll meet you there.” She and Ginny hugged before she apperated home.
***
Harry was pacing. “Ginny’s going to be devastated. She wanted today to be perfect. This will kill her.”
Ron shook his head. “Calm down, Harry. You guys planned incase it rained. The Great Hall is ready and it looks bloody amazing. She’s going to be happy. I know she will be.”
Harry nodded. “True. I guess I should just focus on getting married.”
***
Severus looked at his daughter. “What are you nervous about? You only stand beside your mother.”
She frowned and signed.
He shook his head. “You will not trip and fall. Snape’s have a natural grace and balance. You will be perfect.”
She sighed and sat down next to the fireplace. Severus chuckled and went back to his book.
Before long, there was a knock at the door. Steph opened it and hugged her mother tightly.
Hermione smiled. “Hey honey. I’ve got our dresses. Ginny and Molly are upstairs getting ready.”
She walked into the room and kissed Severus. “And how are you this morning?”
He looked up at her. “I’m as well as can be expected seeing as how the ‘Wedding of the Century’ is about to take place.”
She frowned. “Severus, don’t be that way. Today is a happy day. You could at least smile.” He gave her a smile that would make a shark look friendly. She laughed. “Oh grown up. We’re going to go up and get ready. We’ll see you at the ceremony?”
He nodded. “Of course. I couldn’t miss it for the world.”
Hermione kissed him again before leaving with Steph.
***
Harry ran his hand through his hair as he waited for Ginny. Ron nudged him and nodded towards the doorway.
The whole assembly turned and saw Steph making her way down the aisle, dropping the rose petals.
Severus smiled. His daughter was beautiful. His smile faltered. She would have several boys interested in her soon. There was no way some adolescent boy was touching his daughter.
The music changed and Severus gave Steph a nod before he turned back to the doorway.
His breath caught. Hermione stood framed in the doorway. Her hair was twisted up onto her head with several curls loose. The strapless gown fit her body like a second skin. Around her neck was a small, beautiful pearl. Severus knew Hermione was beautiful, but now he knew she was amazing.
He watched her make her way to the front of the room and take her place. He was vaguely aware of standing when Ms. Weasley entered, but his attention was on Hermione. Several thoughts went through his head, some of the decent as well.
***
Hermione noticed Severus hadn’t taken his eyes off her since she entered. She smiled. He looked so handsome. He had kept the goatee at her instance and decided to tie his hair back from his face today. His robes were a different material than normal, but she couldn’t tell what it was from this distance. He was unbelievably sexy and didn’t know it. That only made him that much more so.
***
Severus was barely aware of the ceremony ending. He watched as Ron escorted Hermione out to the reception. He stepped out from his seat and offered his arm to his daughter. She smiled at him and they made their way to the reception.
***
The band played softly as the guest mingled. Severus searched until he saw Hermione and led his daughter to her. She was laughing at Ron and the sound was music to his ears.
She smiled when she saw him. “Wasn’t the ceremony beautiful? I think it was perfect.”
Severus kissed her hand. “I was unconcerned with the ceremony. There was only one thing that held my attention.”
Ron rolled his eyes. “Come on, Steph. Let’s leave these two alone.” As they walked away, he shook his head. "Much more of that and I wouldn't be able to enjoy the food."
***
Ginny called for all the unmarried women to get together. After they were assembled, she turned and tossed her bouquet. She smiled as she activated the spell so that it fell just so and landed in Hermione’s hands.
***
The throwing of the garter to the single men proved hilarious. Severus was forced to take part and stood in the back of the crowd. Harry turned and threw it over his shoulder. It looked as if Ron might catch it, but at the last moment, he stepped aside. Severus was forced to catch it or have it hit him in the face. He looked at it, then scowled at the cheering crowd.
***
Harry nodded at Ginny, who motioned to Dumbledore. He raised his hands for silence. “The bride and groom wish to thank everyone for attended. They also wish to say a few words.”
Harry and Ginny stepped up beside him. “As Albus said, we thank you for attending. We would also like to say something to Professor Snape and Hermione Granger.”
He looked at Ginny, who smiled and looked at the couple in question. “Have a great time.”
With that, Hermione and Severus disappeared.

Thanks to all who are still reading. I haven't abandoned the story, just took a hiatus for a while to get some things together. Hope you enjoy!
