Chapter Twelve: The Return to School
Chapter Twelve: The Return to School
They arrived at Jinx’s bungalow a few minutes before the appointed time wearing jeans and sweatshirts, as it will be a bit cooler back at Hogwarts.
Hermione handed over the keys to Jinx, “Thanks for letting us use your car.”
“Had a good time, did you?” She asked, noticing the glow that showed on both of their faces.
“Very,” Draco said as he gazed into Hermione’s eyes with a raised eyebrow.
Jinx looked over at Hermione, “I know you changed your appearance for this shoot, so if you want to change back before we go . . . ”
Hermione nodded and touched her wand to her head. Her hair transformed back to the dark brown colour that fell a couple of inches shorter than before, with it tousled around her face. She opened her eyes to reveal the original chocolate brown colour. She looked over at Draco, expecting the way he looked at her to change. When he didn’t and smiled at her, she smiled back.”Ready. What are we using for the port-key?”
Jinx smiled, “Well, my camera of course, we need to link arms and touch it a the same time.” She counted to three, then they touched it at the same time. It felt like someone was tugging them backwards, swirling through a misty haze. In what seemed like seconds, they suddenly appeared standing in Dumbledore’s office.
Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape were sitting there conversing about some of their students when the three of them popped in.
Dumbledore walked out from behind his desk to welcome them back. “Hello, Miss Porter, glad to see you can come for a visit,” he smiled as he went to enfold her hand into his.
“Now Dumbledore, you know I go by the name Jinx. Or is your memory going with old age,” she mischievously said. She looked over at the other professors and smiled, “Hello Professor McGonagall, nice to see you again.” She turned to Snape. “And you must be Professor Snape, I’ve heard so much about you,” she said as she shook his hand.
Snape looked over at Draco and Hermione, who were looking anywhere but at him. “A pleasure, I’m sure, but don’t believe everything you hear,” he drawled.
Jinx nodded her head in acknowledgement.
“So Miss Granger, I hope everything went well. You look like you two had some free time to enjoy the sun. Good for you,” Dumbledore stated.
Hermione nodded her head, “It went very well. I enjoyed it. And thank you again for allowing me to do this.”
“Anytime. Now, why don’t you two take your things to your dormitory, dinner will be starting shortly. And I know Harry and Ron have been waiting eagerly for your return,” he suggested.
Draco and Hermione nodded and proceeded out of Dumbledore’s office. He looked on with a twinkle in his eyes as he noticed Draco had his hand placed at the small of her back as they were leaving. “I hope they got along okay, and were not any trouble,” he inquired.
Jinx looked over at Dumbledore, “They got along very well,” she said stressing the word ‘very’. “Draco even filled in for the male model when the original couldn’t make it,” she added with her eyes twinkling in merriment.
Snape raised his eyebrow at this last remark, while Dumbledore and McGonagall were smirking to themselves.
By the time they made their way to the Great Hall, everyone was already seated. Hermione walked over to the Gryffindor table, while Draco went to the Slytherin one. Harry and Ron stood up to hug her, welcoming her back, full of questions.
“Did it go okay ‘Mione? Did the ferret bother you at all?” Ron asked.
Hermione looked over at Ron, “Everything went very well, it was a very memorable time. And I don’t want to hear you call him ferret anymore,” she sternly said.
Ron and Harry looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. “So, when’s the magazine coming out again?” Harry asked.
She took a sip of her pumpkin juice, “In a couple of months.”
Harry and Ron talked on. Telling her how their quidditch practice was going, and what she missed in her class. She answered the appropriate answers and continued eating.
Ginny glanced over at Hermione who kept gazing over at the Slytherin table. What was even more amazing, was that Malfoy was looking back at her, and not with a look she has seen on his face before. She nudged Hermione to get her attention. “So, I noticed there’s a woman sitting beside Snape, do you know who she is?”
Hermione looked up at the table, noticing the two talking together, even seeing a smile appear on Snape’s face. “Oh, that’s Jinx, she was one of the photographers for the shoot. It turns out that her and the hairstylist, Victoria, went to school here years ago.”
Dinner was finally over, and some of the students went outside to enjoy the outdoors, before the weather turned cold. Ginny pulled Hermione aside, “So, what gives? How did it really go?”
Hermione laughed, “Really, it went along really good. The first day, I modelled four outfits, then the next day I had to model with a guy.”
“Who was the guy?” Ginny asked, guessing what the answer may be.
Hermione glanced over to the front doors where Draco was lounging against the wall talking to Blaise. “It was Malfoy.”
“What!” Ginny screeched.
“It was Malfoy,” Hermione repeated. “The guy who was supposed to be there didn’t make it. Malfoy was asked to fill the spot.”
“What was he wearing?” Ginny asked.
Hermione had a dreamy expression on her face, “Boxers, pajama bottoms, robes . . . he looked very . . . ”
“Very what?”
“Very sexy. His skin was so soft and firm, muscle tone was exceptional,” Hermione said thinking back to the time they spent in Jinx’s car.
“You had to touch him?” Ginny asked incredulously.
Hermione laughed at Ginny’s expression, “Yes, a lot. Now lets go find Harry and Ron. Maybe challenge them to a game of wizards’ chess.”
They went off, Draco’s eyes following them.
