CHAPTER 11

          Silence.

Once Schyler had gotten done explaining what they believed had happened that had led to the now highly contagious virus that was spreading throughout the viper pilots that had been waiting to begin a party for the now soon to be sealed Lt. Colonel Rodolphus, Captain Roark, and Major Evan.

All three had been running very late as they had been asked to make a trip to the black hole to take another look to see if there may be a way around it.

"There wasn't, of course," Roark told those gathered around the conference table, a frown curving his brow.  "Alright," he snapped out at them all, looking at each of them.  "Just tell us."

Each with an arm across the back of his chair, Evan and Rodolphus had smirked.  Since their bonding, Roark's gifts had finally settled, his walls and shields no longer fluctuating.  He had also begun to get stronger, and more sure of each gift he possessed.

That had then led to Schyler sitting forward to begin explaining.  Several Intelligence officers, seeing Roark's silver eyes flame, pushed back from the table, while both Harry and Rabastan tensed, waiting for the inevitable explosion.

"OF ALL THE IDIOTIC, IRRESPONSIBLE THINGS TO DO!!" he exploded., hands slamming down onto the table as he jumped to his feet.  "They KNOW better.  No party is an excuse to skip decon."

"And if they survive this, they will be reprimanded," Roark Sr. sat forward.  "Right now our primary concerns are, number one, find out how to cure our pilots, and number two, get this fleet moving again.  We cannot risk being stationary much longer.  In the meantime," he lifted a folder from the table before him.

"What's this?" Rodolphus asked, taking the folder and opening it.  Looking down at the list of names...their designation...  "Shuttle pilots?"

A nod.  "We need you three to get them viper-trained as quickly as possible."

"Forgive me, Sir, but...HAVE YOU LOST YOUR EVER LOVING MIND?" Evan demanded.  "Shuttle pilots?  You want us to get the ladies combat trained?"

"That's exactly what we want.  Evan, this Virus has swept through nearly all of our viper pilots, and now nearly half of the bridge crew.  Anyone who came in contact with Boomer and Jolly."

Three deep sighs as they got to their feet, heading for the door without another word.

                                                                             cccVccc

"There it is," Thorin said quietly as he sat at the command console, hearing several gasps from the few bridge crew that were on duty.  Thank the Lords of Kobol that you could actually fly a Battlestar with as few as four people.  As long as they had a pilot, a navigator, and scanner and fire control Officers, of which both he and Roark were all four, a Battlestar was movable, you just had to run around a bit more than usual.

"Kobol, just how big is that thing?!" came the gasp from their current pilot, Lt. Mikail Kannovich, a native of Virgon.

"Big enough," Roark answered from his seat at scanner control.  He reached out and flipped a switch.  "Galactica to all fleet ships, we are about to enter the black hole ahead of us.  Keep your courses steady...Gemin passenger liner 6, you are a few points off your course, please correct to 2.002."

"He's good at that," Thorin said quietly to Roark as they listened to Roark correct the courses of the ships in the fleet.

"Is there anything he ISN'T good at?" he asked his brother with a smile.  "That boy had been working from the moment he entered the Academy, and even after graduation, he hasn't stopped.  He has not ceased to amaze me on the things he is capable of."

"He'll make a fine Commander one day."

"He would at that," Rodolphus spoke up from where he sat at the science station, "IF that were his goal,"

They turned their heads to look at him.  "That isn't his long-term goal?"

Rodolphus shook his head with a grin.  "Not by a long shot."
