Painful Secrets

“Gay, Al, I’m gay. I’ve known since I was little.” He pulled away; this time Albus did not have the strength to hold him. “I’m sorry that I could not tell you, I did not want to lose you as a friend.” He looked at Albus startled face and instantly regretted what he had just admitted. “Albus please say something!” Scorpius began to plead. “I did not want to make things awkward.”

Albus simply remained in a state of disbelief, unable to say anything. After all his pretending to be straight with Emily, and hiding away his feelings for his best friend, the boy sat in front of him worried that they would no longer be friends because … Scorpius was gay. His mind could barely process the information.

“Well I guess that’s it then.” Scorpius said wiping his eyes with his sleeve. “I will see you around.” He made it half way to the door before Albus had time to wake from his disbelief. He sprung from the bed and reached out for the other boy. For a moment they simply looked at each other, but before either realized what was happening Albus had began to kiss Scorpius.

They stood together in the middle of the dorm, soft lips clashing, for several moments. At first Scorpius seemed uncertain, his eyes wide in shock, but soon he gave into the kiss closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around Albus’ waist. Tenderly Albus placed his hands one on Scorpius’ back and the other behind his neck.

When at last they broke apart Albus looked at Scorpius questioning face and said “Scorpius Malfoy, I have been in love with you since the beginning of the year. You have no idea how long I have waited kiss you.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Same reason you did not tell me. I was afraid you would not want to be around me anymore.” Albus replied. “I’m so sorry that you did all that stuff with David, that you suffered in vain.”

Suddenly a memory, buried in pain, resurfaced. “He told me. David. He told me and I forgot. I blacked out.”

“David told you?”

“Yeah, he knew you liked me all along.” He answered, once more dropping his head. “And he still did all that stuff to me…he hurt me Albus.” Tears began again. Albus simply walked Scorpius back over to his bed where he held him close. “I’m sorry for crying. I know I should be happy right now, but I have been holding this all inside and its been destroying me.”

“I’m here to listen scor. Tell me.” He replied placing a kiss upon Scorpius forehead.

For an hour Albus listened as a distraught Scorpius told him all the things David had done to him over the past few months. He held the boy, wiped his tears, and when they arrived at the telling of the rape he gently rocked Scorpius. When there was nothing else to be told, and night had fallen on the castle Albus got up and closed the curtains to both their beds. No one would know that Scorpius was spending the night in his bed.

“Thank you Al, for listening.” Scorpius said as he snuggled into Albus’ chest and fell asleep. Albus brought his hand down to rest on the slender hip of the boy lying against him. He looked down at the blonds swollen eyes, and his anger for David was anew. In a time where they both should have been happy, the lasting effects of Scorpius rape cast them into sorrow. Albus wanted revenge for Scorpius, but he was not sure how to get it. He gathered the other boy closer to him. Albus would get no sleep that night, or any night, until he had a plan to punish David for the things he had done.
