Chapter 11
“Mum, you stay here with Lovegood.” Draco said. “Prepare the house for plenty of guests. If you run out of things to do before we return, you may want to cook something.”
Narcissa looked up at Draco and touched his cheek. He leaned into her hand and there were no more words needed. Hermione was envious of the beautiful moment.
“There is a small shack 200 metres to the east of the homestead. We should Apparate them all from that. It’ll give us good cover.” Draco said to Hermione and Goyle.
Hermione – Ron, you are at the historical site of the Battle of Hastings. About 200 metres from the homestead to the east is a little shack. We will Apparate there when you give the okay. If you can get to us there, we can get you out. We have weapons to protect you.
“Draco?” Hermione asked quickly, an idea coming to her.
“Yes?” He asked seeing the look on her face.
“Do you have any brooms here?” She asked.
He caught on quickly.
“Only one.” He said.
“Goyle?” Hermione asked.
“Yeah?”
“How good are you at Apparation?” She asked.
“I can Side-Apparate two at a time and can be back within twenty seconds.” He said. “Bout the only thing I was good at in school.”
“Fantastic.” She said.
She opened a box of bullets and emptied them into her pocket. Then she grabbed another few boxes. She was going to kill as many infected as she could.
“This is our plan.” She said. “We Apparate into the little shack. Draco, you’ll be on your broom, shooting any infected from there. Goyle, when the survivors come, you will Apparate them back here until there are no more survivors. I will be on the ground, shooting any infected and directing the survivors.”
Hermione took out the Galleon.
Hermione – Harry we’re going to get the Weasley’s. They’ve been attacked. We’ll come and get you shortly after. Love you. See you soon.
Hermione waited for a reply from Ron.
“Aim for their heads. If you can’t, go for the heart.” She said. “Both should be fatal.”
Draco and Goyle nodded sombrely. Hermione looked down to the Galleon.
“Draco, give your Galleon to Luna.” Hermione said. “We need to keep in contact should something go wrong.”
Her Galleon began to grow warm.
Ron – We can see it. We think we can climb onto the roof and down the lattice on the east side but I reckon the infected will catch on before we can everyone out.
Hermione – It’s our only chance. If it comes to it, Draco will be able to take people on his broom. We all have guns, Ron. We’ll have you well protected. Draco will be shooting from the air, me from the ground. Goyle will be shooting from the shack if need be before he side-Apparate’s two people at a time. It’s a sound plan. Don’t worry. Get everyone to put on a partial disillusionment charm and silencing charm.
“They can climb over the roof and down to the ground but because there are so many people they are afraid the infected will come before they get everyone to the shack.” Hermione explained.
Ron – Alright. Give us a few minutes to get our charms on, then Apparate to the shack. But, we want the children gone first. Draco will be able to two children on his broom at a time. There are eight children all up. We want him to come get them before we climb onto the roof.
“He wants you to take the children on your broom from the window before they climb down.” Hermione told Draco. “There are eight kids, you could fit two on your broom at a time and I know your fast as hell. Are you up to it?”
He looked a little more confident after her praise and nodded. He Accio-d his broom. The Nimbus 2001. He must have left it here when he upgraded.
Hermione – No problems. We’re coming now. Draco will come straight to you for the children. We’ll stay in the shack until all the children are back here with Luna and Mrs Malfoy. Then you will climb onto the roof. I will disillusion myself, run across to the homestead and keep a lookout. Then you’ll all run to the shack, two at a time under full disillusionment. Is everything clear?
Ron – Perfectly. See you in a minute.
Hermione pocketed the Galleon and turned the safety off of the gun. She grabbed Draco and Goyle by their arms and looked at Luna and Narcissa.
“Back soon.” She promised.
