Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Luke entered the courtyard of the homestead. He found Owen working on a droid, Artoo next to him helping. Luke smiled as he walked over to his son.
“What’s wrong now?” Luke asked.
“That motivator again. I’ll get a new one on Coruscant from Talon,” Owen sighed.
“It might be better if just bought a new one,” Luke said.
“You’re probably right,” Owen agreed as he stood up.
“You ready for me to continue?” Luke questioned as he, Owen, and Artoo headed back inside.
“Yes. Why don’t you just skip to when mom was taken. I mean, Aunt Leia, Uncle Han, you, and Aunt Mara have told me how you and mom were married a month after the battle of Endor. I also know how she helped you start the Academy and such,” Owen replied.
“Alright. Your mother and I had been married for six years when it happened. She was seven months pregnant with you when we received a communication from your Uncle Severus on Earth. We were here and were planning to head for Coruscant a few weeks later,” Luke began.

Hermione was just putting dinner on the table when Luke entered the kitchen. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“It’s vaporator 2 again. I’ll have to go to Anchorhead and get a new motor,” he sighed a he sat down.
“Luke, why don’t you just replace that damned thing. For the last two seasons we’ve been having trouble with that one,” she suggested.
“Perhaps you’re right,” he nodded.
“Of course I’m right,” she laughed.
The two began their meal. Hermione was now seven months pregnant with their first child. Both agreed to their child on Coruscant. Hermione wanted to be with their family. Just then, the comm unit came to life.
“Hermione? Luke?” came the voice of Severus.
“Severus? What a surprise,” Hermione smiled as she and Luke entered the living room.
“I have bad news. It seems Voldemort has managed to get a hold of the remaining Imperials. He’s looking for you Hermione,” Severus explained.
“Where was he last seen?” Luke demanded as he put his arm around Hermione.
“Last reports from Leia indicate he was on Myark,” Severus answered.
“Where are you?” Hermione questioned.
“Coruscant. Potter, Weasley, and Lando are on their way to Myark now. Voldemort also knows you’re pregnant and that you and Luke are married,” Severus replied.
“What should we do?” Hermione gasped.
“Severus, tell Leia that Hermione and I will be leaving for Coruscant in two days,” Luke said.
“I will. You two be careful and I’ll meet you on Coruscant in a few days,” Severus nodded.
Luke ended the transmissions. The couple returned to their meal. Both were lost in their thoughts as they processed this latest information. After dinner, Hermione took the dishes to the sink and began washing them. Through their bond, Luke could feel her emotions.
“Talk to me love,” he pleaded.
“I’m worried. I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about Voldemort anymore. Now, he’s threatening our family,” she said shakily.
“It’s going to be alright Hermione. In two days we will on our way to Coruscant. We’ll be much safer there,” he sighed as he pulled her into his arms.
Hermione wrapped her arms tightly around his waist. Absorbing the love and strength he offered her. “Please be careful in Anchorhead tomorrow,” she whispered.
“I will. I tell you what. After I get back, we’ll leave. Will that make you feel better?” he asked.
“Yes,” she nodded.
“Then we’ll leave tomorrow. While I’m gone, pack only what we need for the trip. Anything else, if we don’t have it at our apartment there, we’ll buy it once we get settled,” he replied.
“Thank you. I love you Luke,” she smiled softly.
“I love you too Hermione,” he grinned.
The two moved from the kitchen and headed outside to watch the suns set. This had become a ritual for them ever since they began living at Luke’s old homestead four years ago.

Hermione sighed as she rolled over to embrace Luke. Her eyes opened when she found him missing. There was a note and a flower on his pillow. She sat up and read the note.
My Love,
I figured I’d get an early start. You looked so peaceful I didn’t have the heart to wake you. I’ll see you in a few hours.
I love you,
Luke
Hermione smiled. She got out of bed to grab a shower. After her shower, she quickly fixed her something to eat. Once done, she began the task of beginning to pack. She knew Luke would ask his friend Darek to check on the homestead while they were gone.
************************************************************************
Luke sighed as he neared the homestead. He had ordered a new evaporator and arranged for Darek to pick it up and install it. Darek was an old friend of Luke’s and often checked on the homestead while he and Hermione were gone.
Luke looked up and felt his heart freeze at what he saw. Black smoke drifting from the house. What froze his heart was the Dark Mark floating over the house.
“Hermione! Where are you!” Luke yelled as he jumped out of the speeder, Artoo right behind him.
He ran into the house, calling for his wife. He found their suitcase partially packed on the bed. The rest of their things neatly organized. Luke rushed into the kitchen, where the smoke and most of the damage were. The stove and other appliances were destroyed. Dishes from Hermione’s breakfast were smashed on the floor. Hermione definitely put up a fight.
“Hermione!” Luke cried out.
Room by room, he searched but found nothing. Not a single trace of his wife. As he headed outside, he spotted the note on the living room table. With shaking hands, he picked it up. It was written in blood. Hermione’s blood.
Skywalker,
I have your wife. She and your unborn child are now mine. If I’m feeling generous, I may return your wife’s dead body after I have taken your child as my own.
Luke let out a scream of pain. He dropped to his knees and buried his face in his hands. After nearly ten minutes, he got to feet and ordered Artoo to get the KARYTHIAN MOON ready. He ran into the bedroom, finished packing and closed the suitcases. Once finished, he took the two suitcases outside and loaded them onto the MOON. He took off and headed straight for Coruscant.
************************************************************************
Hermione glared at Voldemort as she rubbed the spot on her arm where some of her blood was taken to write the note. She was in a room that was quite nice, but she didn’t notice. When the Death Eaters had attacked, she had no warning. She managed to put up a good fight before finally being subdued. When she came too, she was here.
“You’re mine now Skywalker,” Voldemort hissed.
“Why don’t you just kill me now and get it over with,” Hermione shot back.
“I don’t think so. You see, you have something I want. That spawn growing inside you. You and Skywalker’s child will be mine. He will help me destroy the Jedi and conquer the Wizarding world once and for all. So get used to this room. It will be your home. For now,” Voldemort laughed.
Hermione was trembling as Voldemort left. The instant she woke up she felt the room covered with yslaimiri. She fell on the bed and began crying.
‘Oh Luke. Help me. I need you now,’ she thought as her left hand rested over her stomach, feeling her son kick within her womb.
