Morning Encounters
Lily’s alarm went off at five thirty, she did not run yesterday, and she definitely felt it. She had been running since her third year at Hogwarts, not because she felt like she needed to, just because it felt good.
She dug around in her draws groggily, and found her light green track suit her mother had bought her over the summer. Lily went into the bathroom, washing her face, and pulling up her hair.
Once she was all set she headed out, careful to be quiet, since James’ door was fully open this morning
James had woken up when her alarm went off, like it did most mornings. He had been tempted to meet her, but decided against it, running had always been her thing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Severus had been awake most of the night, and when his alarm went off, he was able to get up with ease. He changed quickly, and slipped out of the boys dormitory, and out onto the grounds. He decided to confront her after her run.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lily loved getting up at this time, all the castle was quiet, even the portraits were sleeping at this hour. She stepped out onto the foggy dark grounds, like normal, except today the fog was a bit more dense.
She began to stretch herself out, when she could of sworn she heard something behind her, quickly, she turned around but saw no one there. Shrugging it off, she began a brisk run, heading out towards the Quidditch pitch.
Severus slipped behind a knight just in time, curing himself for tripping on his cloak slightly. He had lucked out, she did not see him.
An forty minutes had gone by, and she made her way back, toward the castle. She was winded, two miles really took it out of her, and Lily needed to shower.
Panting a bit, she walked under the shadow of the castle, the fog was starting to clear as the sun appeared from behind a cloud. She walked in a side door, and could of sworn she heard footsteps, but yet again there was nothing.
He waited for the best time, which would be a deserted hallway, less likely that they would be interrupted.
Lily had decided to go down to the kitchens for a small snack, since she was hungry already, the torches had gone out by now, and the only light was from the sun through the small windows.
Severus decided that this was the best time to confront her.
She knew for a fact she heard someone, and she looked over her shoulder, almost freezing her her tracks. There stood Severus, and he had a crazy look in his eyes. She cursed herself for not bringing her wand with her.
“What do you want?” Lily asked trying to sound brave as her voice shook a bit.
“Like I said yesterday, you need to give me a chance to explain,” he said menacingly, walking a bit closer to her.
“I already talked to you. I don’t want to hear your explanation for what you said. it was obviously what you felt,” she said backing up a bit
In a flash Severus had her cornered, and he was dangerously close to her. “You lied,” he said staring down at her. She was cowering a bit under him, and strangely, it amused him.
“People lie Snape,” Lily snapped. She moved to go around him, but he caught her by the wrist and slammed her against the wall a bit hard. Lily yelped slightly at the impact, and began to panic a bit.
That pushed him over the edge, the only people who called him Snape was Potter and his gang. He saw something on her neck as she turned away from him, and saw a mark on her neck.
“Your a lying whore,” he said staring at the mark. He knew exactly what it was, and who had left it there.
“I am not yours to command,” Lily said struggling to get away from him, but she felt a sharp jab of his wand in her stomach. She froze and stared up at him, the grip he had on her wrist was cutting off the circulation, and it was throbbing.
He just laughed and rolled his eyes at her trying to struggle, Severus was planning on showing her how much she had hurt him. “Lying only gets you in trouble,” he said ignoring her last statement.
Lily came close to screaming for help, but knew he would only do something worse to her, and no one was around to hear.
“If we are on the topic of lying then,” Lily said trying to stand up for herself. “You claim that you like me, and James says you stalk me like a lost little puppy, why did you call me what you did? Which one is the lie?” She snipped.
Severus grabbed her face with his hand that held his wand, forcing her to look at him. “Neither of them are lies. You are a filthy mudblood, but I still want you,” he said glaring at her. He did not know how she made him feel this way, but he hated himself for it.
Lily tried to pull her face away, but now she had no way out, his body was pushed up against her holding her in place. She hoped someone would come along soon before things took a turn for the worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
James had been unable to fall asleep, and it was now six forty-five, and Lily still was not back, normally she would have been back by six thirty at the most. Sighing he rolled out of bed, and changed.
He was still half asleep as he made his way towards the Great Hall hoping he could maybe catch her on her way back up to the room. Still no sign of her at six fifty-five, and he was starting to get worried.
On his way to the main doors he thought he heard two people talking, no one was ever up at this time. Then what really made him curious was when he heard muffled yelling.
James slipped is hand into his pocket onto his wand just in case. This day was starting out to be pretty odd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Let go of me Snape,” Lily said wiggling to get free. “People are going to be getting up soon,” she panted trying to at least get her head out of his grip.
“I will finish up long before someone comes along,” he said his stare boring into her.
“I said LET GO!” Lily yelled using all the strength she had to try and throw him off, but it did not get her very far.
James had found the right corridor, he could see two people in the far corner, and the girl (he could tell by the voice) wanted nothing to do with it.
“Oi, I believe she said let her go,” James called down the hall, his pace picking up. His wand was out now, ready to give this boy a piece of his mind, as well as a detention.
Lily heard a boys voice, and was grateful someone was coming to her aid, but his grip did not let up.
“I will when I am ready, Potter,” Severus snapped, he knew that voice anywhere, and did not even bother to turn around. “Lily and I are talking at the moment.“
Lily stopped fighting for a second, looking over his shoulder, and sure enough there was James.
James was finally close enough to see the black greasy hair, and a glimmer of red behind it.
“Let her go Snape,” James snapped closer now, his wand drawn. He could see Lily was pinned up against the wall. One hand was on her wrist, the other holding her face.
“Go away Potter,” Snape said finally turning around to look at him, his grip loosing only the slightest. He let go of her face, and pointed his wand at James.
“I will once you let her go,” James snapped, with that his wand was in the air, and went to disarm Snape.
Severus was faster then him for once, “Sectumsempra”, he yelled. He had made this spell a few ago, and now he could try it out on his intended victim.
James fell back, yelling in pain, his body was burning all over, and his body was covered in blood.
Lily screamed loudly, and Snape let go. He had intended on hurting Potter, but he did not realize how bad it really would be. His grip loosened on Lily and she let her run to him, he took his leave, and slipped down another corridor.
“James!” Lily said running over to him. There was blood everywhere, and the cuts were deep. “Oh God,” she said trying to stop the blood, but it just kept coming.
“SOMEONE HELP!” Lily screamed holding James’ hand.
James could see Lily, and tried not to yell out in his pain. He could feel that his clothes were soaked, and he was starting to get weak.
“ANYONE!” Lily said trying to moved James but he was too heavy.
Around the corner came McGonagall, she was still in her pajamas with curlers in her hair.
“What is...” she said then stopped. She saw someone bleeding on the floor, and Lily Evans holding their hand, she was covered in blood as well.
“Professor, help him!” Lily said crying. She was covered in blood, but she would not let go of his hand.
“We have to get him to the hospital wing,” Minerva said quickly, though she was unsure exactly who he was.
“Hold on James,” Lily said looking at him as McGonagall used her wand to get him up.
Just as she said that, McGonagall recognized who it was, “who did this?” She asked as they rushed towards the hospital wing.
“Severus Snape,” Lily said quickly, reaching for James’ out stretched hand.
James was in severe pain, and could feel himself drifting off into a sleep, but he still held onto Lily’s hand as best as he could.
The group burst into the hospital wing, and Lily went to pound on Pomfrey’s door, she groggy women opened it, and went to yell until she saw blood all over the girl.
“Please help him,” Lily said dragging the women over to where McGonagall had set him down.
Once Pomfrey was on James, McGonagall dragged Lily outside. “What spell did he use?” Minerva asked her, she had never seen anything like this before.
“I-I don’t know,” Lily said shaking and crying. “It was sectum- something,” Lily said trying to look in the window of the hospital wing.
McGonagall nodded, and headed towards the Slytherin dungeons.
