Author’s Note:
Well, the fighting is over, but the story is just beginning. This next chapter is about Randi’s return to Hogwarts. She finds herself the unwilling center of attention. How will she cope?

Randi blushed as she saw the many students on the steps cheering loudly and waving Ministry and Hogwarts flags. “There goes my solitude.” She groaned as Dumbledore and Severus helped her up the steps through into the castle. She was still very weak and had to lean against Severus for support as she walked. They helped her into the Great Hall where the rest of the students were gathered, awaiting her arrival. A large, purple and white banner that read, “Professor MacKenzie RULES!” was proudly displayed over the Gryffindor table, and the head table was decorated with fresh flowers and ribbons. The students took to their feet and applauded and cheered as she passed them. Dumbledore let Severus help her the rest of the way to her seat, and took to the podium.
The students went silent and took their seats as he began to speak. “Students, it is with the greatest joy that I now officially tell you all that Lord Voldemort’s reign of terror came to an end last evening.”
The hall once again erupted in applause. Dumbledore raised his hand to silence the students before he continued, “I’ve always told you that it takes much courage and heart to do what is right in the face of evil. I’m very proud to announce that last night’s raid was led by our very own Professor Randi MacKenzie.”
Again, the students cheered and stood up from their seats. Dumbledore smiled patiently and allowed them to continue cheering for a minute before shushing them again. “Thanks to information that was given to us by Professor Severus Snape, Voldemort’s meeting was raided by both of the professors along with the Minister and many of his Aurors. Unfortunately, Professor MacKenzie was injured during the raid, but I hear that her performance was most inspiring. It isn’t every day we come face to face with a hero, or in this case, a heroine. Let us not forget the important role that our Aurors play in our society. Day after day they put their lives on the line to protect the innocent and bring the guilty to justice.” He then looked at Randi and smiled. “Professor, you may call America your home, but always remember that England loves you.”
The hall once again was filled with loud applause and cheering. Randi stood up slowly, and the noise died down. Severus stood up beside her and held her arm to help support her. “Headmaster, if I may, I’d like to bring attention to the young man who I believe is the bravest soul the house of Gryffindor has ever produced. It’s true that I led the raid, but it was Mr. Harry Potter who faced the Dark Lord and put an end to him once and for all.” She then raised took the glass of champagne that stood on the table in front of her and held it towards Harry, who was sitting between Hermione and Ron with a most embarrassed look on his face, “So I’d like you all to raise your glasses in a toast…to the Boy Who Lived.”
The students raised their glasses and cheered Harry wildly. Randi took a sip of her champagne and Severus helped ease her back into her chair.
Dumbledore joined in the applause then smiled at the students and said, “And now, I believe a celebration is in order.”
Suddenly plates full of delicious foods came flying into the room, landing softly on the tables. Hagrid looked at Randi and smiled proudly. “It’s so good ta have yer’ back, Professor MacKenzie.”
Randi saw the tears welling up in the large man’s eyes and returned his smile, “It’s good to be back, Hagrid.”
After everyone ate, many of the students came up the head table to welcome Randi back and hear about the battle.
“Battles are to be fought, but never celebrated, children.” She said wisely, “They’re very ugly, and I only fight them when it’s absolutely necessary. I will tell you all this, however, the bravery I saw displayed by Professor Snape, the Minister and the Aurors made me very proud.”
“Professor Snape was in the raid too?” a Hufflepuff girl asked shyly.
“He certainly did. He fought right alongside me and stayed with me after I got hexed to make sure I would be safe until they could get me to the hospital.” Randi replied.
The girl gasped in amazement at the Potionsmaster. “Wow!”
“You’re a hero as well, Professor.” Blaise Zabini spoke up.
Randi noticed the uncomfortable look on Severus’ face and grinned. “I’ll have you know, Mr. Zabini, that the head of your house wields a sword most wickedly. I wouldn’t go breaking any rules if I were you.”
Blaise chuckled and shook Severus’ hand, “Congratulations, Professor. You make me proud to be a Slytherin.”
Severus stood up and said, “Alright, that’s enough questions for today. Off with all of you before I start taking points.”
The children quickly scattered and Blaise stopped on his way out to give Severus a proud smile.
Randi looked at the young man as he left. “That, my dear Severus, is what being a great wizard is all about.”
