The Charges
Chapter 14
“Come in” Madam Bones said after hearing the knock.
“We have the Dursleys.” She said. Preceding the other Aurors who were leading their captives.
The Dursleys were staring about themselves in fear and awe at all the obviously magical items in and around the office. They were also still a little wobbly from the portrait.
“Mr. Vernon Dursley, Mrs. Petunia Dursley, Mr. Dudley Dursley and Miss Marge Dursley you are under arrest for the abuse, neglect and attempted murder of Mr Harry James Potter”
“Where are we?” Vernon asked.
“You are in the wizarding world. Specifically in the head office of the Magical Law and Enforcement department.”
“You are now going to be separately questioned on the parts you played in the abuse and attempted murder of Mr Potter.”
“We did not want the freak in the first place The crazy old bastard Dumbledore left him with us.” Vernon ranted.
“Whether he left him with you or not that does not excuse what you have done. Guardians are legally obligated to give the same level of care as that which they give to their own child. You should be ashamed of yourselves.’
“I did not want him with us.” Petunia sobbed. “He was a burden on us”.
“Then you should have petitioned to Dumbledore for Harry’s removal, or to your own Government.” They showed no remorse at her words, they just felt sorry for themselves.
“Tonks take the Dursleys to the holding cells. Separate them from each other and arrange the interviews.”
“Yes Madam Bones”
Once they were gone Madame Bones drafted a letter to Dumbledore, detailing the results of the arrest and sent it using one of the Ministry’s owls.
“It is from Amelia” Dumbledore said, quickly scanning the letter he had just received.
“What did she say?” Severus asked standing. ‘Did they get them?’
“She’s given no detail in case the letters intercepted. She just says to fire call her. Poppy can I use your office?”
With Poppy’s nod he went into her office to contract Amelia.
“Madame Bones Office.” He said sticking his head through the flames.
“Albus we have the Dursleys. Do you know when Harry will be getting out of the hospital wing?”
“I do not know, maybe in a couple of days?”
“We will need Harry at the trial.” She said sadly, knowing how hard it was for victims to face up to what had happened to them.
He sighed. “I will have to talk to Harry and the others. I will call you back when I get an answer.”
“Thank you Albus. Good day.”
Albus headed back out of the office.
“Albus what did Amelia say?”
Albus smiled, he wasn’t surprised that Minerva had literally pounced on him the moment he left his office.
“The Dursleys have been arrested. She also wants to know when Harry will be ready to testify.”
“I want this done A.S.A.P. I do not want to wait any more time” Harry said immediately.
“What do you think Poppy?” Albus asked turning to the Medi Witch.
“He should be completely healed by tomorrow.” Albus nodded.
“Do we tell your friends to get ready for the trail? How much do they know?” His Dad asked.
Harry thought for a moment before replying. “Not much. That they did not feed and they lock me up in my room, that is all I think. Tell Madame Bones the earlier the better”
“Very well Harry.” Albus smiled before going back into the office to firecall Amelia.
He came back out a few minutes later. “Wednesday at 9am Harry”
“Ok, now I want to tell the others before the news comes out. Could you call the Weasleys please grandfather? What do you think the Dursleys will get grandmother?”
Both Elizabeth and Minnerva answered at the same time. “LINCHING!” And with that everybody started to laugh.
