The Return

Severus smiled down at his husband, and then grimaced as his hand was squeezed to the point of breaking. He was suddenly glad Harry was going through this and not him. He knew their families were waiting for them in the waiting room for the twins to be born and he was glad to know they were there for them. He remembered back to all the times they had gone through since the twins had been conceived.

He remembered how Harry’s brothers had tried to prank Harry again, but stopped after Severus and Sirius, with the help of the Weasley twins retaliated. The prank the two brothers, Alex and Cody, had played on Harry had accidentally sent him down a flight of stairs and almost cost them their children. They sent a charm that would turn his hair blue, but Harry acting on instinct jumped to the side to avoid it and lost his footing. Severus had never felt actual fear until he saw his five-month pregnant husband fall down the stone stairs. Luckily Harry’s magic had protected their children, but Harry had been ordered to bed rest for the last part of his pregnancy.

James had immediately pulled his son’s out of school and sent them to a muggle boarding school after breaking their wands. He had told them since they couldn’t respect magic they wouldn’t be allowed to use it.

James and Lily had become more like friends than parents to the couple and all involved decided that is how is should be.

He was brought from his musings as Poppy proudly exclaimed, “It’s a boy!”

Severus gently took their son into his arms after he was cleaned and showed him to his husband as poor Harry rested for a bit until it was time to push again. He counted the fingers and toes of the little boy and smiled as he noticed the baby had his husband’s nose and messy hair. Then the eyes opened and he gasped at what he saw. There staring back at him were eyes identical to his own.

“He’s beautiful love.” Severus said as he kissed his husbands sweaty forehead, it was then Poppy told them it was time to start again so their daughter could be born.

Twenty minutes later he was holding his daughter in his arms. His little girl had his silky black hair and Harry’s nose and eyes. She was just as beautiful as her brother. He smiled down at his tired spouse and watched as Harry held his finger to their son’s had and the baby boy gripped it.

“I should take these two to meet the rest of the family while you get some rest.” He said as he took his son from his husband. He noticed Harry’s tired sigh as the baby was taken from him.

When he was about the leave the hospital wing with his children he looked back and saw his husband was already asleep.

He smiled as his mother and Molly were the firsts to see him enter the room where all were waiting for news. Instantly the two women had taken his children from him and were cradling the two babies.

“Well what are their names?” Sirius asked as he wrapped his arm around a five month pregnant Remus.

“Mum is holding Arthur Listen Potter-Snape, and Molly is holding Molly Ruth Potter-Snape. Harry and I decided the twins should be named after their grandparents. We have also decided on godparents each of us picking a set.” Looking at Sirius and Remus he said, “Sirius, Remus, Harry wants you to be Arthur’s godparents. He says he wants to give you the chance to be a godfather without it being taken from you.” This he said to Sirius. He was shocked to see the tears running down their eyes as they heard this, and Ruth placed Arthur in their arms.

“We would be honored.” Remus said as his husband cradled the little boy in his arms.

Severus then turned to the rest of the group and sought out the two people he had picked to be his daughter’s godparents. “James, Lily I would like to ask the two of you to be Molly’s godparents.” With that Molly was placed in Lily’s arms by her grandma Weasley and the two Potters could only nod knowing they had been chosen by their once enemy for an honor they didn’t deserve to have.

For the first time in his life Severus realized everything was Perfect.
