11 : More revelations
<>
Harry
and Remus returned to a house in turmoil. Dumbledore had arrived at
the house while they were out and of course the arguments started.
Harry walked into the kitchen right in the middle of it.
<>
“ ...I
asked him to tell us where he was going but he wouldn’t tell
us. He said it had to do with his inheritance. What did he mean by
that? “ asked Hermione.
<>
“ Why
don’t you try talking to me instead of behind my back,”
stated Harry angrily.
<>
“ Oh
Harry you’re back, we were worried “ blustered Hermione.
<>
“ I
was gone what, all of two hours! What in bloody hell would you be so
worried for” Harry said. “ I went to check out one of
the properties I inherited from my parents. I do not need to clear
my plans with you Hermione or anyone else. “
<>
“ I
told you it was not something to worry about. Remus was with him and
besides Harry is quite capable of defending himself if the need arose
“ Arthur stated.
<>
“ You
said other properties. What did you mean by that “ asked Ron.
<>
“ I
now have control over the Potter estate as well as my inheritance
from Sirius. The Potter Manor and my parent’s home in Godric
Hollow are now mine. We were checking out the Manor and I have
decided to live there instead. “
<>
The
others made sounds of protest.
<>
“ I
do not think that would be wise “ stated Dumbledore. “
Since you refuse to go back to the Dursley’s I think staying
here is the only option.”.
<>
“ Albus
I disagree “ said Remus. “ You have no idea what kind of
wards are on this property. I have never seen such complicated wards
before. Harry was the only one that could see the gate at the first
set of wards. The house itself is warded seperately and is also
invisible to others. He had to hold my hand before I could see let
alone enter the property. Add the standard anti-apparation wards,
unplottable and notice-me-not charms and this place is safer than any
place else”.

“ Albus
I have to agree with Remus “ said Molly. “ If that house
is as securely warded as he said then Harry should live there. “
<>
“ It
sits on 25 acres of land and the house is huge. I can train and
continue my exercise routine safely and in peace. Here there is
always people coming and going. Also I don’t think you would
want me to go running in this neighborhood “ said Harry.
<>
“ Well
I guess the Order could move there...” started Dumbledore
<>
“ The
Order is NOT moving there, only Remus and myself. The Weasleys and
Hermione can come the last week of summer break but NO-ONE else is
invited “.
<>
“ Harry
be reasonable ...”
<>
“ No
you are NOT, I repeat NOT coming near my home. It’s bad
enough that this house has become a drop-in center for whomever you
trust to be here. Well I do not want certain people anywhere near my
home therefore you will not be welcome there, “ Harry glared at
Dumbledore.

“ Harry
why can’t we go with you. You said we could come at the end of
the summer so why not now “ asked Hermione.
<>
“ I’m
sorry but I need some time to work on controlling my new powers. It
would be easier and probably safer if just Remus is there with me. I
promise you can come for the last week. “
<>
“ Harry
what about meals and everything else, “ asked Molly.
<>
“ There
are house-elves there to look after us. They have maintained the
house all this time by themselves. “
<>
“ Harry
more house-elves “ Hermione huffed.
<>
“ Hermione
enough about house-elves. They were so happy to have someone to look
after. “
<>
“ Harry
I’m only concerned about your safety, I’m not trying to
control you “ Dumbledore said.
<>
Harry
took a deep breath. “ I ‘m sorry you disagree with my
decision but I will be leaving here within the next couple of days. “
Harry turned to Ron. “ Would you like to see my new broom now?”
<>
“ Sure
Harry “ Ron answered.
<>
“ Well
it’s been interesting talking to you “, Harry said
sarcastically to Dumbledore, “ but I would like to spend time
with my friends. “ Harry walked out of the room followed by
Ron, Ginny and finally Hermione.
<>
After
Harry had left Remus braced himself for the onslot of questions.
<>
“ You’re
sure that you both will be safe there by yourselves “ asked
Molly.
<>
“ Yes,
the wards work in such a way that Harry must physically lead someone
through them. The house is in a remote part of Scotland , the
nearest town is forty miles away. No one will come across us. Harry
will be happy there, that’s the most important thing. “
<>
“ I
want you to keep me informed of his progess “ Dumbledore
stated.
<>
“ I’m
not spying on Harry and then reporting back to you.”
<>
“ Now
see here Remus ... “ Dumbledore blustered.
<>
“ No
Albus, I have his trust, his respect. There is no possible way,
except if he is in danger, that will cause me to violate that trust.
You will be informed only what Harry wishes you to know, when he
chooses to tell you.”
<>
Dumbledore
sighed defeated. “ Ok Remus. I do not want to drive Harry
further away. “
<>
“ I’m
sorry he feels the way he does. Give him some space and stop
questioning his decisions. He is a smart young man. He is not the
impulsive kid any more, he is not going to put himself in any danger.
He will never trust you again unless you start trusting him “
stated Remus.
<>
“ You’re
right “ said Dumbledore.
<>
“ I
told him about my teaching DADA again this year. I think what we
discussed about Harry helping me is prefect. He will have no trouble
testing out of the course, in fact I think he could easily test out
of Charms as well. He has already bought his text-books so we can
work on them in the next few weeks. Giving him this responsiblity
will go a long way in repairing your relationship “.

“ What
are you talking about “ asked Molly.
<>
“ I
asked Harry to be my teacher’s aide if he can test out of the
course early. Albus and I made arrangements to have him tested for
his NEWTS at the end of the month. That is another reason to go to
the Manor. He will not be distracted by his friends and can study in
peace. Oh, please do not say anything around the children. I don’t
know if he is going to say anything to them about this just yet. “

“ Sure
Remus. When are you two planning on leaving? “ asked Molly.
<>
“ I
think tomorrow or the day after at the latest. Harry was so excited
about the house but I think he is a bit worried about Ron’s
reaction however. “
<>
“ What
do you mean? “ asked Molly.
<>
“ No
offence but Ron tends to get jealous of Harry and Harry is now a very
wealthy young man. “
<>
“ How
wealthy? “ asked Arthur.
<>
“ He
could live to Albus’s age, never work a day in his life and
still never empty his vault. “
<>
“ Sweet
Merlin “ gasped Arthur.
<>
“ So
you see why he is being so evasive about his inheritance. He doesn’t
want to be treated differently by Ron. “
<>
“ We’ll
do anything we can to prevent that. “
<>
“ Thanks. I think I’ll
pop upstairs and see what they are up too”
said Remus.
<>
Remus
left the room, its remaining occupants left to think about all they
had hear.
