Cradling Ginny in my arms, I ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time. I don’t know what I was more thankful for, the intensive Auror training they required us to complete or Ginny’s small frame. I knew it was late, and Madam Pomfrey was likely to be asleep. Rounding the last corner and preparing to burst into the medical wing I felt a sudden pang…Ginny needed help, but would Madam Pomfrey be the best choice? I decided to find Hermione. ‘Mione would know what to do, and probably had more experience with this sort of…erm…”thing” than Madam Pomfrey. I suddenly felt intensely protective of Ginny’s emotional well-being as well.

Ginny was shivering in my arms, making slight noises that sounded like a pitiful mewling kitten. I could readily see that the wounds were relatively superficial, and that my biggest concern would be shock. I decided to bring her to the Room of Requirement.

At last I made it to the 7th floor and located the tapestry of Barnabas the Balmy. I walked past the portion of wall three times, concentrating with all my might, praying the entrance would appear. Thankfully, it did.

Inside, the Room of Requirement had transformed from a classroom for Dumbledore’s Army, as I had last seen it, to a cozy looking bedroom with apothecary cabinets, a wash basin, a large bed, and a couple of overstuffed chairs. In the far corner was a screen, behind which was an old claw-foot tub and assorted towels and robes.

I laid Ginny carefully on the bed, cringing as she winced slightly.

“First things first…accio robe!” a soft, white robe fluttered through the air. I looked down at the semi-conscious Ginny, feeling what I could only describe as a need to protect…and avenge. I quickly unwrapped her from his cloak and wrapped the clean robe around her.

”I’m going to go get Hermione…okay Ginny?...Ginny?”

She murmured ever-so-slightly, nodding in assent. I pulled a blanket over her, made my way to the door, and rushed to Gryffindor Tower.
