Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven:

In the last chapter, I put a quote I heard somewhere, it was: a dominant only has power because the submissive gives it to him** and I forgot to address it at the end of the chapter. I don’t remember where I read that at. Did one of you write that in a review? If you did, please e-mail me, or leave it in a review, and I will credit it to you in the next chapter. I put that in the story, because when I read it, it made perfect sense. When you are in a dominant/submissive relationship, it is all about trust. If the sub didn’t trust the Dom, they would not let themselves get tied up and whipped. The power is only an illusion. Let me know if you don’t agree with this, and if there are any people in a Dom/sub relationship and I am right, let me know. That type of relationship has always fascinated me.

The trip to Hogsmeade was pretty uneventful. A little ways from the castle Harry had noticed Snape sneering at him and looking at his hands. He looked down and noticed that he was holding hands with Draco.

‘How did that happen?’ he thought.

He decided not to say anything when he realized that he enjoyed holding hands with Draco. He also wondered if Draco realized that they were holding hands, and if he didn’t, what he would do when he DID realize it. Stopping his thoughts before he broadcast them to Draco, he settled in to enjoying the walk.

There wasn’t much snow on the ground so they arrived at Hogsmeade quickly. Harry wanted to stop at the bookstore for a present for Hermione and Remus, the Quidditch store for Ron and the Robe Shop for Ginny. He had already gotten Molly and Arthur’s present and he had no idea what to get for Draco.

“Well boys, why don’t we start at one end and work our way down. By the time we get to the other end, it will be time for lunch, which we can have at the Three Broomsticks. How does that sound?” suggested Dumbledore.

“It sounds like a good idea to me sir, but I have to get a present for Remus and Draco and I don’t want them to know what I am getting them,” said Harry.

“Well, we can test the bond and see how far and long you can be apart, and get their presents at the same time. You, myself and Professor McGonogall can shop on one end, and Draco, Remus and Professor Snape can start on the other. We can monitor how you react to being apart. If one of you has a bad reaction, someone from that party will shoot up blue sparks and the other party will immediately go to them. How about we do that?”

“Okay,” said Harry, reluctantly letting go of Draco’s hand, and was surprised when he didn’t make a comment about them holding hands. He would ask him about it later.

Harry and his party went into the bookstore, while Draco and his party went on to the Quidditch store. Harry felt a little hollow inside, but it was more annoying than anything, so he started browsing the store. He still had no idea what to get Draco, but he could at least knock out two of his presents in this one store.

After a little browsing, he found a book on ancient Wizarding traditions, a new quill and a set of colored ink pots for Hermione. As he was heading to a new shelf of books to look for a present for Remus, he saw a book on Dragons. He remembered from their conversations in isolation that Draco like dragons. It wasn’t a fact he let most people know, because it seemed cliché because of his name. Harry thought it might interest Draco, so he grabbed that one too.

He had to stop and steady himself a few minutes later because he felt a little twinge of pain in his mind.

‘Draco must be getting too far away, or we have been apart too long. I’m going to have to hurry.’ he thought.

“Professor Dumbledore, what do you think Remus would like? I was thinking of getting him a book, but maybe I should get him a new set of robes. What do you think? Maybe both?”

“Harry, I think whatever you get him will be cherished,” said the old wizard, his eyes twinkling merrily.

“Mr. Potter, how are you feeling?” asked McGonogall.

“A little hollow, and I felt a slight pain earlier. I think we have been apart too long. I will just go grab a book for Remus and I will be done here,” he answered.

“Yes, do hurry Mr. Potter. I think we should meet up so you two can have some physical contact for a few minutes, then we can resume our shopping,” she replied.

Harry looked around, then decided on a set of novels. Harry remembered Remus with a book by that same author one day at Grimmauld Place. He also decided he wanted to get him a new casual robe while he was getting Ginny a new dress robe.

He paid for his purchases then went out of the store. He saw Draco and the others approaching and figured that they had come to the same conclusion. Just as they reached each other, there was a series of pops and a blinding flash, and then Harry blacked out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draco was very content. He and Harry had held hands all the way to Hogsmeade. Harry didn’t seem to realize it at first, until he saw Professor Snape sneering at their joined hands. He had tensed up at first and Draco thought he was going to pull away, but then he relaxed.

He could feel a little of what Harry was thinking. Happy, but wondering if he realized they were holding hands. Draco didn’t want to acknowledge it in case Harry got self conscience and pulled away.

After they got to Hogsmeade and separated, Draco was at a loss as to what to get Harry. So he asked Remus.

“Draco, I think that Harry would like just about anything, except books. Hermione always gets him books, but he is not much of a reader.”

“Well, your no help,” he said, distressed.

“Why don’t we go to the Quidditch store. You really can’t go wrong with him if you buy him something for Quidditch.”

So off they went. Once in the store, Draco realized that Remus was right. He could see millions of things Harry would like. The first thing he got him was a practice snitch that he had engraved with Harry’s initials. Then he saw a book on famous Quidditch maneuvers. Remus had said no books, but he thought Harry might like that. As he was picking up the book he felt a little twinge of pain in his head. He had felt a bit hollow ever since they had parted, but not any pain until now. It wasn’t too bad, so he decided not to say anything. He figured they had just been apart too long.

After getting a new broom servicing kit, since Harry’s was almost empty, he browsed around some more, and bought himself a new pair of riding gloves and boots. He felt another twinge, this time more painful and decided he should probably tell Remus about it.

“Remus, Professor Snape, I think that we should be meeting up with Harry soon. I’m starting to feel some pain in my head. I think we’ve been apart too long.”

“Do you feel anything else Draco?” asked Snape.

“Just a hollow feeling, nothing to bad.”

“Okay, lets go meet up with them,” said Remus.

So Draco paid for his purchases and they left the store. He saw Harry, Dumbledore and McGonogall coming up the street and guessed that Harry had felt the same symptoms as he did. Just as they met up in the street, there was a series of pops, and blinding flash, and then Draco blacked out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry and Draco woke up a few minutes later in the middle of the street in Hogsmeade. Apparently only they blacked out, because they were surrounded by Snape, Remus, Dumbledore and McGonogall, who all had their wands out. Harry felt a blinding pain in his scar, and when it passed, he looked up to see Voldemort standing in from of them, with about two dozen death eaters standing behind him, and everybody had their wands drawn.

“Sssstand asside Albusss! Let Potter face me, or iss he too much of a coward?” hissed Voldemort.

Harry stood up and moved next to Dumbledore.

“Hello Tom. Have you missed me? It has been awhile,” said Harry, deliberately baiting Voldemort.

“Potter! We meet at lassst! You have ssstolen something from me, and I want it back!”

Harry frowned. He couldn’t mean Draco, could he?

“What are you talking about you crazy old man?” he asked.

“The young Mr. Malfoy, thatss what! He isss mine! Hisss father promised him to me! Then you went and bound yourself to him. Nobody takesss what isss mine!”

“How did you find out about that Tom?” asked Dumbledore quietly.

“I felt the magic pouring from Hogwartsss, sso I sent for Luciusss. The fool actually came when I sssummoned him. I fed him veritassserum and he told me everything! Now, are you going to give me what isss mine, or am I going to have to take him?”

“What did you do to my father you bastard?” shouted Draco.

“Oh, sssuch fiesstiness. I like you. Come boy, come to where you rightly belong, and I will ssspare your mother.”

“NEVER! Where are my parents? What did you do to my father?” he shouted again.

“Your traitor of a father isss dead. I killed him for betraying me, but your mother livesss. Come to me and I will ssspare her. But only if you come now!”

Draco started forward, but Snape and Harry restrained him.

“Let me go! I have to save my mother!” he cried, struggling to get away from his captors.

“No Draco! Don’t listen to him. They may both be dead, and if she is alive, he will not let her go.” said Snape.

“Ssssverussss! You betrayed me too. What a ssshame. Let the boy come to me and I will ssspare you.”

“You are lying. I know how you operate, and we will not give you Draco.”

“Then I will jusst have to take him. Sssseize the boy, kill the ressst. Leave Potter to me!” he commanded his death eaters.

Suddenly they were in a huge bubble shield, and all the curses the death eaters were throwing bounced right off, some of them going back on the ones that threw them.

Harry looked at the teachers and Remus and realized that they had thrown the shield up. Luckily they were all powerful wizards, or it would have failed by now, but it still wouldn’t hold up for much longer. They had to do something.

“Professor Dumbledore, is there anyway to open this up enough for me to get out? I need to go out there and face them. The shield isn’t going to hold for much longer.”

“Harry, you can’t face him with your wand remember?” said a frantic Draco.

“Harry, switch wands with Draco’s. Use his.” said Dumbledore.

“Are you crazy? You can’t use someone else’s wand in battle! It would be hard enough to just levitate with another person’s wand,” snapped Draco.

“But you two are bonded. It will work, but try not to let Voldemort see. The surprise will work in your favor,” instructed Remus.

Harry and Draco exchanged skeptical looks, but did as they were told, since there was nothing else they could do. It was try this or die here and now.

Before the adults opened a spot for Harry to slip through, Draco grabbed him and kissed him forcefully. Harry moaned and deepened the kiss. He whined pitifully when Draco pulled away.

“Don’t go and die on me Potter. We didn’t go through all of this for you to die the next day,” drawled Draco.

Harry just kissed him lightly on the lip and slipped out the back of the shield. The second he was out, they slammed it back into place. Taking a deep breath, he slowly walked around the shield. He could feel the others watching him, and deep in his mind, he felt the panic and fear that Draco was feeling, for both Harry and his parents.

When he got to the front of the bubble shield, he turned and faced Voldemort, wand at the ready.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here? Coming to play the little hero are we? You don’t ssstand a chance. Jussst turn over what isss mine and I will let you walk away,” hissed Voldemort.

“You know, you keep telling me you will let me walk away. I’m beginning to think that maybe you are afraid to fight me. Is that it? Are you scared Tom?” taunted Harry.

“Fine! You don’t want to do the sssmart thing and walk away? You will regret it!”

Voldemort started slinging curses and hexes at Harry, who dodged them. Apparently Voldemort told his death eaters to stay out of it, because they were just standing there watching the whole thing.

“Crucio!” shouted Voldemort, with his wand aimed at Harry.

Harry slammed a protective shield up and it bounced back at Voldemort. He jumped out of the way just in time and it hit one of his followers, who immediately started screaming and fell to the ground.

The next few minutes were a blur to Harry, and in the end, he was standing over the smoking, dead body of Lord Voldemort. He didn’t even remember how he did it. One minute they were throwing curses at each other, and the next he was dead on the ground. Harry looked up in a panic when he suddenly remembered the other death eaters, only to find them all subdued. There were aurors everywhere. One of the villagers must have called them in. He looked around for Draco and the others, and found them headed towards him.

“Guys, what happened?” he asked.

“You mean you don’t remember?” asked Dumbledore.

“Not really. I remember throwing hexes back and forth, but that is about it,” he replied.

“Harry, you threw the most powerful avada kedavra curse I have ever seen. He never stood a chance!” said Draco.

“What do you mean the most powerful you’ve ever seen?”

“I mean, it was so bright, it almost blinded us! People hit with the death curse just fall where they stand, but Voldemort was suspended about two feet off the ground, writhing in the air, then he just fell to the ground, smoking. I’ve never seen someone with smoke coming from them when they were hit with an avada kadavra!” explained Draco.

Harry just stared at them in shock. He couldn’t believe that he was that powerful.

He must have said that out loud, or Dumble was reading his mind again because he offered and explanation.

“It must be your bond with Draco, Harry. The both of you are powerful as individuals, but combined together with the bond, you tripled in power. You were so angry, and wanted to end this war, you produced a very powerful curse. Congratulations Harry, Voldemort is dead, and for good this time.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry was tired and he wanted to just go to bed. After Dumbledore’s explanation, he had been surrounded by reports and villagers and aurors, who had then transported him somewhere. He had been separated from Draco for so long that he started having convulsions. They had to bring Draco in on a stretcher, for he had been convulsing too. Harry was pissed off that Dumbledore let them get separated. He had tried explaining to the aurors that they couldn’t be separated, but they wouldn’t listen to him. They just kept congratulating him and patting him on the back. They listened when he was on the floor convulsing though. Pity it had to come to that to get someone to actually LISTEN to him.

Finally, he saw Professor McGonogall coming towards him and Draco. He stood up and motioned for her. She quickly approached him.

“There you two are! I’ve been looking all over for you!”

“Were sorry professor. They just brought us here. I don’t even know where we are! They took Draco away and wouldn’t listen. We started convulsing from being apart for so long, and they brought him to me. Nobody will listen to us, and we just want to go home!”

“Well, I will have a talk with these ministry fools tomorrow. That’s where your at by the way. For now, lets go back to the school. I’m sure the both of you would like to get some food and go to sleep.

Excuse me! You over there! Are we done here? Good, because I am taking these boys with me. I hope you got everything you need from the, because you are not to bother these two boys again, am I clear? Good. Now, come along boys. The Headmaster wants to see you.”

“Professor, have you found my parents?” asked Draco.

“The Headmaster will explain everything when we get to the school young man,” said Professor McGonogall as she handed them and old shoe and port keyed them back to Hogwarts. When they came to a stop, Harry saw that they were in the Headmasters office.

“MUM!” shouted Draco, and threw his arms around the blond woman. She hugged him back with all her might. Harry looked around the office and didn’t see Lucius. He looked at Dumbledore, the question in his eyes. Harry saw the sadness in Dumbledore’s eyes, and knew that Lucius was dead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draco had never been more terrified in his life, than in the moments that Harry stood before the Dark Lord. While Draco knew that he was not in love with Harry yet, he still felt fondness and an extreme attraction towards him. He knew that with time and the bond they would eventually love each other. But only if Harry survived. He watched in fear as they traded insults and curses. He snickered when the crucio Voldemort threw at Harry bounced off his shield and narrowly hit him back, before eventually landing on one of the death eaters.

Then Draco couldn’t believe his eyes: Harry had just hit Voldemort with the death curse, and Voldemort was suspended off the ground, writhing in the air. Draco had seen plenty of people hit with the death curse, thanks to his father, but never did he see it act quite like this.

Voldemort finally fell to the ground, dead, with smoke wafting off of him. Another thing that shouldn’t have happened. As soon as Dumbledore and the others dropped their shield, he started towards Harry at a brisk walk. He didn’t want to seem too eager to get to his ‘husband.’

They talked a moment before coming to the conclusion that Harry’s avada kadavra curse was so powerful because of their bond. Shortly after that, they were surrounded. He lost sight of everyone, including Harry. Then some stupid ministry fools had taken him somewhere. Nobody would tell him anything, including what happened to his parents. He was sure that his father was dead at least, but he didn’t know about his mum.

He started to feel pain in his head, but the idiots watching him wouldn’t believe that he was bonded to Harry and needed to get to him. They did start to believe when he started convulsing. They loaded him on a stretcher and took him to Harry, who was also convulsing. Once they had physical contact though, it stopped immediately.

A few hours later McGonogall came and fetched him and Harry. When they landed in Dumbledore’s office, Draco immediately saw his mother and threw himself in her arms.

“Mum, where’s father?” he asked, with dread in his stomach.

“I’m sorry sweetie, but your father is dead,” answered his mother, with tears running down his face.

“Oh gods! Did they hurt you too?” he asked.

“No darling they didn’t. I don’t know what they did to your father either. I was kept in a cell after they captured us going into hiding. I never saw your father again after that.”

“Then how do you know he is dead? Maybe they just hid him somewhere.”

“Draco, I saw his body myself. I am sorry, but your father IS dead,” said a very sad Dumbledore.

Draco and his mother embraced again, comforting each other. He started in surprise when he felt another arm around him. He looked up and saw it was Harry, who looked at him in understanding. He too knew what it felt like to lose a loved one. Draco put one of his arms around Harry and the three of them stood in Dumbledore’s office, holding one another.

A/n gods, I am more nervous about his chapter than I was about the bonding one. I have NEVER wrote a battle scene before. Please tell me the truth about this one. If it is too bad, I will take your suggestions and rewrite it. I wasn’t going to write a battle scene, but I was at a loss about how to continue this after the bonding, and this idea came to my head. Don’t worry, the story is far from over.
