Back at school

Ok, for those of you who wanted an update, here ya go. Though it may be a lil short. Anyway. Usual disclaimers: Not mine, blah blah blah.

It was a very tense few days after she had passed out at the top of the stairs. Not wanting to embarrass anyone, she had just told them that she didn’t know what happened. One minute she was fine, and the next she was dizzy and passing out. Possibly because she was so weak after her first transformation.

Finally it was time to return to school, and hopefully, normal life. With all her bags packed, she padded down stairs to where Dumbledore, Lupin, and Sirius were waiting for her. She gave them all a small smile then looked at Sirius.

“Thanks for all your help. Yours too, Remus,” She added, moving her gaze to his. “I don’t know what I would have done without everything that you did for me.”

She paused a moment, then asked, “So, I guess I’ll see you next month then?”

Remus looked to Dumbledore, then after getting his nod, said, “Actually, I’ll be coming back with you. Just in case. But you’ll see Sirius here next month.”

Not knowing what to say about that, she just nodded and said good-bye to Sirius. Then, grabbing her things, she waited for Dumbledore to go through the floo, she followed, then came Lupin.

Once back at the school, she asked if she could excuse herself to go to her room. After receiving their approval, she left Dumbledore’s office and made her way to the Gryffindor common room. Thankfully, the rest of the students were still at class, so she didn’t have to stop and talk to anyone. She wasn’t ready to face anyone yet.

After unpacking her things, she sat on her bed and thought about all the stuff that had happened and everything that had been said the last week. It was all too much to take in. Maybe she’d speak to Dumbledore about getting a pensive. It would help to keep her thoughts straight.

An hour later, still sitting there, she could hear her classmates coming in downstairs. Deciding she’d had enough time to wallow in her self pity, she took a deep breath and went down to the common room.

No one said anything when she entered. They just looked at her for a moment or two, then went back to what they were doing, as if she hadn’t interrupted them. As if it didn’t matter who and what she was now. As if she was still the same ole Hermione to them.

She couldn’t help the small smile the flitted across her mouth. Spotting Ron and Harry over in the corner, she made her way over to them, where they were watching her, big smiles on their faces.

“Hi.” She said, sitting down next to Ron on the couch.

“Hi,” they said together. Then both of them threw their arms around her. “We missed you. Homework has been dreadful without your help.” All three of them laughed at that.

“I missed you, too. I’m glad to be back.”

After rearranging themselves so that they weren’t hanging all over each other, they sat in silence for a few minutes. Then Ron spoke up.

“So…. How did everything go? Are you okay? What happened?”
“Everything’s fine, I’m okay, and I’m not really ready to talk about some of the stuff. Lets just say it was painful. And some of it was really embarrassing.” She could feel herself blushing when she recalled what had happened between her and Prof. Lupin when she had basically gone into heat.

They sat in silence a few more minutes. Ron and Harry not knowing what to say to that, or what to think about her blush.

“Well, we’re glad your okay,” said Harry. “And we’re very happy to have you back. You haven’t missed much. Just Neville blowing up a couple of cauldrons in Potions class.”

Hermione laughed. Though it was nice not having to deal with Snape, she had missed all the commotion that went on in his class. After talking and catching up for another hour or so, they got up and headed down to the Great Hall for dinner, with a smile on each of their faces. And Hermione thinking maybe this wouldn’t be as hard or as bad as she thought it was going to be.

TBC. Thanks for all the reviews and thank you to everyone who contiues to read this story. This chapter might be kind of choppy, and I apologize for that. I have a 7 yr old demon who thinks he HAS to be the center of attention, lol. Anyway. I'll have another update soon. And if you'd like to read something else from me, I have another story that I started, Called A New Beginning, with Hermione and Viktor Krum. After seeing GOF, I had to write one about them two, lol.
