Chapter 11: Rough day/Memories revisited

The school day seemed to drag, it seemed the longer she was away from her mate...the more she had to fight to control her temper, she was all too glad when it was time for lunch and she almost ran through the hallway...looking for Harry. She opened the great hall's door and quickly sat beside him as Ron moved over to make room. Harry chuckled as she snuggled into his side, her long hair tickling against his skin as she inhaled his scent deeply. "Rough day love?"

She nodded slightly, "it's slowly getting better." she brushed her lips against his cheek. "Luckily I have a two hour break after lunch and according to Dumbles so do you." She grinned suggestively and smirked lightly as Harry blushed getting her intended meaning.

Ron grinned and winked at Hermione, "Geez Harry you're blushing like a virgin..."

Harry mock glared at Ron and hid his face in Morgana's hair, Hermione giggled, "He's only teasing Harry."

Dean snickered, "yes, but Colin's having a field day with his camera....do you know how much people here are trying to pay him for pictures of you and her...or just her, not to mention copies of the look on Snape's face when she snapped at him?"

Harry raised an eyebrow, "care to enlighten me?"

Dean smirked, "sure, so far the highest bid's been 30 Galleons."

Ron's eyebrows shot up past his hair line as he turned to look at Morgana, "I know you're hot....but....jeez someone could buy a whore for that much...for 10 more you could get someone that can make themselves look like anyone you want..."

"RONALD WEASLY just how do YOU know this?" Hermione tapped her foot angrily.

"Hermione....my dad works at the Ministry....he's helped arrest these people before."

Her anger deflated quickly, as she said quietly, "oh..."

Morgana shook her head in silent laughter before smirking, "so Ron, when do you plan to ask this lovely little witch out?"

Dean and Harry choked on their pumpkin juice as Ron turned a brighter shade of red than his hair and began sputtering. Hermione blushed but calmly spoke, "well he um....already did...."

Harry gaped, "WHEN?!?!"

"The day before Morgana was found in your bed..."

Dean scowled, "Damn, here you go Harry, one galleon....I woulda sworn it would take them most of this school year..."

Harry held out his hand as half the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws handed him a galleon. "So who wants to go out to eat later...my treat?"

"Honestly Harry betting on us getting together....."

"Hey they started it, they figured it would take Captain Oblivious over there till the end of the school year....of course there were even more bets from the Hufflepuffs for the end of last year..."

Ron's eyes crossed as he fell off his seat backwards and looked up with bewildered eyes, "am I the only one that didn't know we were getting together?"

Harry helped him back into his seat, "Fraid so mate."

Morgana covered her mouth snickering before an outright laugh escaped and echoed around the Great Hall as all other noise died...and two Slytherins held onto their seats tightly to keep from attempting to pounce.

Something clicked in Hermione's head as the sunlight shone in brightly, reflecting in Morgana's hair and off of her fangs..."you're immune to sunlight...."

Morgana looked at her quickly, "if you have questions...we could go discuss them somewhere else if you please...Miss Granger..." her eyes did a quick sweep of the room before returning pointedly to Hermione.

"Of course."

They quickly picked some food off of the table and left the room, Harry leading them to the Room of Requirements, thinking of a place where secrets could be kept safe. When the door appeared they quickly entered, closed, and warded the room, before turning and sitting in the fluffy couches to talk. Harry sat happily on Morgana's lap, as she seemed to brace herself for a barrage of questions that knowing Hermione were soon to come. "Ask away Miss Granger."

"How are you immune to sunlight, even the most ancient of texts that I've been able to get my hands on have said there are no records of any vampires being immune?"

Morgana smirked, "the only texts you will find anything on me in, would be the one's I helped to write, all of which are not in English, are in a very secret place that only I know the location of, and many of which are well over two thousand years old."

Hermione's mouth almost seemed to drool at the prospect of knowledge no one else had...."what are you?"

Morgana's lip twitched sensing Hermione's growing interest..../wonder what'd she do if she knew about my personal library.../ "I am one of the most ancient creatures you'll ever meet, and I am also a Vampiric Veela."

"But the earliest records of veela only go back one-thousand five-hundred years....?"

"Correction, the earliest records that have survived the passage of time....not many veela's wanted to be known about back then....in fact there were many sightings of veela at the time that were called Sirens instead since they didn't want the name traced back to them."

Hermione swooned in her seat, making sure to memorize every bit of information the creature before her was willing to share. "How many books do you have in your secret place?"

Morgana smirked widely, "Let me see...last count......hmmm well last time I actually counted them before I moved them all into one place...there were well over three-hundred thousand."

Hermione whimpered quietly as Ron put his arm around her shoulder to keep her in her seat, she was literally vibrating with energy. She was trying so hard not to be intrusive and outright ask for access to the books.

Morgana laughed, "I suppose if you were to come to my chambers after classes, I could bring a few here for you to read, but they may not leave my rooms."

Hermione pounce up and hugged her tightly, squishing Harry against her in the process, "OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!"

"You're quite welcome...now....um...my mate needs air..."

Hermione pulled back quickly, "Um....sorry...."

Harry gasped for air dramatically, "Thanks 'moine."

Ron snickered before Hermione hit him on the arm gently, "hush you."

Morgana smiled softly at how close the three of them seemed, she was closed off in her own mind thinking, so she didn't realize when Harry looked up at her curiously, her face was the almost dead look that most vampires get when deep in thought. Ron and Hermione looked up to see Harry waving his hand in front of her face which got no reaction. "She's o.k. Harry, just thinking."

Harry nodded before turning back to talk with his friends, "What time are you going to try and set up with her to read in her room Hermione?"

Ron snickered, "What's a matter Harry, don't want to go shag if 'Moine might be there?"

There was a loud 'thwack' as Hermione brought a random book out of no where down on his head, snapping Morgana back into the present....who immediately began laughing at the look on Ron's face, "I don't know what I missed exactly....but it was worth it to see that look on Ron's face!"

Harry smiled as Morgana clutched her sides laughing, consequently clutching him to her, /I love it when she laughs./

Hermione snickered as Ron rubbed his head, "did you have to hit me so hard?"

"Yes."

"That's what you get for being perverted Ron."

Morgana nuzzled her head against Harry's cheek as her laughter calmed some what, Hermione looked thoughtful for a moment, "I've never known of vampires actually laughing, normally they don't show any emotions...."

"Normal vampires don't, they think of it as a show of weakness, most modern vampires instinctively go after the people they were closest to in life....to destroy that weakness.....it is really very sad, afterwords they really have no ties to the mortal world, and still there are others...who do it on accident, when they first wake up...if their master isn't around they go to what they know....but the first thirst...takes control around humans."

Hermione quietly asked her next question afraid of upsetting her, "have you ever turned anyone?"

"Only once....because they did not deserve to die that way."

All three of them looked at her questioningly...

Morgana sighed, "they were tortured because the muggles thought that they were a witch, their crops were doing better than anyone else's and it seemed that they were altogether having better luck, part of it was that they had pleased someone.....I was dressed in rags with a hood covering my face, I looked and smelled horrible....every other person in that town...had sent me away, many with scathing remarks....but....he let me in, fed me fruits and vegetables from his garden....gave me shelter....I began doing small favors for him...helping in the fields....running errands....singing for him. He was by far the sweetest living human I'd met in a thousand years at that point, never asking me to do anything in return for all he offered." She sighed so sadly, a lone bloody tear falling down her cheek as her eyes stared straight a head at nothing....but the past. "I was coming back to his house....I'd just managed to talk someone in the next town to trade a horse with him for one of his pigs and a few pieces of gold I had given him......he was laying on the road....almost dead...and there were still so many of them....throwing stones and stabbing at him, they wanted him to die....so that all that was his became theirs......"

Morgana's voice trailed dangerously lower as her mind took her back to the scene she'd walked back to....

********Flashback********

She stood not ten feet away when he'd looked up and seen her, "Morgana leave here" his voice was weak as the line of blood coming from his lips became thicker as he coughed.

Some of the towns people had seen her and were coming towards her....as a lucky rock hit him in the back of his head, "ANDREW!!!" A violent wind picked up around her and the peasants watched as her clothing and cloak transformed around her into velvet and the true Morgana was revealed to them. The man lay still on the ground with his face in the dirt...he looked as if he were dead, and something in her....snapped violently as she grabbed the nearest peasant that had HIS blood on him and her fangs made quick work of tearing his throat out....

It didn't take long before she'd killed them all, it'd been a long time since she'd even dreamed of killing a mortal and now she'd killed twenty in one go, she knelt down and lifted his head up onto her lap as the tears began to fall, "you were the only one of them worthy of living...." her ear twitched....his heart...it still beat....but it was slowly trying to stop...."Andrew....wake up....." he didn't move, she put some of her magic into her voice, "I command you, to WAKE UP!"

Green eyes fluttered open blurrily, he was so close to death, "alas the angel of death is a sight of true beauty." He sighed as he looked at her...until he met her eyes, "Morgana?"

She sobbed he was too far gone for her to just heal, "Tis I Andrew."

"Why do you cry?"

"You're dying....and if I do the only thing that can save you....thou shalt hate me."

He looked more closely.....noticing at last the blood on her face and the fangs protruding from her lips, "You're a vampire....yet you're in the sunlight?"

"I'm not a normal vampire.....and I was never human to start with."

"You mean to turn me?"

She sobbed quietly, lowering her head, "no....I shalt not turn you, I would not have you hate me...." she turned her head away from him, "but....I CANNOT WATCH YOU DIE!"

"Would you stay with me?" She looked back, a single tear falling to land on his face, "if you turned me....would you stay with me?"

She dared not to hope where this was going, "for as long as you wished. You do not deserve to die this day....not like this...."

"Then turn me, I don't wish to die....."

"Are you certain?" She looked at him her eyes swimming with a multitude of colors as well as her own uncertainty.

"I am certain." He brought a hand slowly, painfully up to her cheek and wiped away the tears, "just please...stop crying....it hurts me more than the stones did."

She managed a weak smile, "no more pain for you Andrew."

"Does it not hurt to change?"

"No...not the way I'll do it, I won't let it cause you pain."

She pulled him up a little straighter and bent her lips to his throat, willing the pain in him to leave and only pleasure be left behind, his body arched against her as her fangs pierced his skin and a moan escaped his throat. She didn't drink much and as she drew back she nicked her wrist just slightly with her fangs before putting seven drops of blood into his mouth and then she sat and watched him change...so swiftly humans wouldn't notice it....but before her eyes his aura changed. He opened his green eyes and they almost looked like green glass now. He looked up at her and his eyes widened, with his new eyes he could literally see the magic swirling around her.....

********End Flashback********

"I was true to my word...I stayed with him for as long as he wanted me to."

"What happened to him?"

"Why'd he want you to leave?"

Morgana sighed, "eventually just being with him wasn't enough....he wanted something he couldn't have....and when I tried to explain why I couldn't be that to him.....he wished he'd never met me.......and then..." tears welled up in her eyes staining the whites red, "he walked away...."

Hermione had tears of her own streaming down her face as she rushed forward and pulled her into a hug, careful not to squish Harry this time....

"Did you ever see him again?"

She sniffled once, "yes.....he's become a death eater.....he.....he was there.....the night....Lily and James....were killed..." her tears started to fall as she hugged both Hermione and Harry to her. "He....couldn't...sense me....but I saw him...."

Ron sat silently on the other couch....not sure what to do...but even his blue eyes held unshed tears in them.
