Chapter ten- Lion's Mane.

The smell of roasted almonds, Butterbeer, and wet shoes emitted throughout the Leaky Cauldron. The sound of a bell dinged when ever the old oak door swung open or shut, letting the chilled people step into the welcomed warmth. Hermione, being one of those human popsicle sticks, sigh in content when she stepped through the threshold. Scanning the busy tavern, she saw a faimilar head of raven black hair, and two auburn heads. Smiling warmly, she waved her hand at Tom, the owner of the tavern, and weaved her way out of chairs, people, and tables.

"Morning Mione. We were wondering when you were going to show up." Teased Ginny. Sitting down next to Ron, Hermione removed her heavy coat and placed it on the back of her chair.

"Yes, well, I had things I had to attend to. Hello Harry, Ron." She smiled at her friends of seven years. To think, it seemed like only yesterday that she was telling Ron of the dirt on his nose, which he seemed to yet to clean off. His hair was more red back then, but now he was a handsom auburn color, brightening his face instead of washing it out. Harry, well his hair was still as unruling as it was back then. Both had grown into handsom young men. They topped her small from at six foot each. There is a saying in the muggle world that you tend to look like your best friend of many years more than you do to your family. Now, Harry didn't have the freckles or red hair but she couldn't figure out where he got his tall frame. From what she knew, both James and Lily were only around 5'9", 5'7". Turning her attention to Ginny, she was envious of her natural beauty. The 5'7 young women turned many of the males heads in the halls. She had slender legs that traveled on for what seemed like forever. She had full, yet petite hips, flat stomach, and an average bust. What really caught everyone's attention was her pale green eyes. Usually a red head, like everyone of the Weasley's, had emerald green eyes, but she had pale green eyes, that constantly sparkled.

"Mione?"

"Hm?"

"You in there?" Questioned her raven haired friend. Shaking her head from her stupor, she nodded her head.

"Sorry, just reminiscing. You've all changed so much over the years. Its hard to believe that we've been friends for seven years."

"Oh, I know! Amazing isn't it?" Asked Ginny. She looked over at Harry with loving eyes, smiling when he looked down at her with his own emerald eyes. Hermione couldn't help but sigh at the two. They were made for one another. Why couldn't she find someone like that? Was she really that unappealing?

"Anyway." Ron inturrupted, clearly uncomfortable with the heated looks that Harry and Ginny sent each other. That was his best mate and baby sister for crying out loud. "Luna said she'd be joing us soon." He said blushing at the mention of her name.

"Oh? Whats going on between you two?" Asked Hermione.

"Well, after the war and all, and ya know how we didn't really work right Mione? Well, Luna and I kinda, I don't know, work. She's and odd ball but then again so am I. No one really understands what the hell she's talking about most of the time but, I love her creativity." He finished, and took a swig of his Butterbeer. Smiling warmly at Ron, she patted his forearm.

"Good for you Ronald. She's a lovely girl."

"And, if the war, and my family as taught me anything. Is that life is short. So, I think Luna is it."

"Are you sure mate?" Harry questioned, wide eyed at his friend's remark.

"More than anything else. She's charming." He sighed heavily. "I, I just want to be normal for once."

"He wants to be normal!? Mate I don't see you walking around with a lighting bolt as a scar!" laughed Harry.

"Oi! You know what I ment you hob-knocker."

"Hey now. I wouldn't do that to any man. I wouldn't like. I will be needing my family jewels, you know, repopulate the Potter name." Smirked Harry as he leaned down and kissed Ginny's cheek.

"Harry! Not my sister!"

"Ronald, you have no say. Hermione, why don't we get out of here? Harry's got to plan out Quidditch plays, Ron has Luna coming soon, and we haven't a G.N.O. in awhile." Ginny pleaded. Unable to resist the red head's natural charisma, she agreed and both bid the boys farewell. Stepping back out into the cold air of November, the young women weaved in and out of the crowds gathering around shopping squares and charts. The two caught up on the lastest topics that floated around the halls of Hogwarts, and had a one sided converstation about the upcoming Quidditch matches. Noticing her friend's lack of interst of the wizard sport, Ginny thought about Hermione's night with the bouncing ferret.

"Hermione?"

"Yes Gin?"

"How was the ferret's house? Thats the second time that you stepped into the Snake Pit and you didn't come out babbling about Gnargles or Ligers."

"Ligars are real."

"What? No there not." Ginny looked at her friend like she had snakes as hair. Really Ligers?

"In the muggle world, we were able to breed the tiger and lion. Mind you, they would never naturally mate in the wild, both living in two completely different niches..."

"Hermione! Really. Got it. I have no idea what you said, but I get it. Muggles are awesome." She laughed at her friend's extent of knowledge. How she was able to cram all that knowledge in her brain was like magic. "But, no really how was it?"

"Pleasent."

"Pleasent? Thats all I get!?"

"What do you want to know? Mrs. Malfoy was charming, intellegent, and passionate about literature."

"I don't want to know about Mrs. Ferret! I wanna know about the spawn of the devil." Turning to her burnette friend, she sighed. She didn't want to know about the boring old hag! Watching Hermione sit down on a bench near the entrence of a robe store, she watch her hang her shoulders. Sitting down next to her, she put her hand on her troubled friend's.

"What did he do Mione?"

"Nothing." Bewildered, Ginny egged her on.

"Well, whats wrong then?" Sighing, Hermione looked up at her best girl friend.

"He, he was. I don't know what word to use!"

"Well that's a first Granger." Startled by the masculine voice, Hermione shot her head up to meet piercing grey eyes. Feeling Ginny tense up, she stood up, coming up to his chest.

"What do you want Malfoy?" Asked the furious red head. Can't one just enjoy an afternoon out with some friends without a stinky ferret? Goodness.

"Wondering why you haven't responded to my mother's letter."

"I haven't been to the Owlery since yesterday Malfoy. Tell your mum I will fetch my letter and respond to her after my outing with Ginny." Pulling her shoulders back, she eyed him with her hazel eyes. 'Now bite my ass Malfoy and leave.'

"Thanks, but no thanks Granger." With that he turned on his heel and left. Sitting back down, Hermione let out a breath of relief. He could be so frustrating sometimes.

"What was that?"

"That was Malfoy." Closing her eyes, she willed her headache to go away, mentally beating an imaginary Malfoy with her fist.

"No. At the end. What he said."

"No idea. Who cares? He's a bumbling idiot." Laughing softly she stood from her seat and looked at her friend. "I'm going to look at some books that I've been waiting for ages to come in. Want to join?"

"Goodness no! I'll talk to you later." Laughign, Ginny hugged her friend and walked back towards the Leaky Cauldron. Watching her friend leave, Hermione started in the direction of a second hand book store. Suddenly, the wind was knocked out of her lungs, and a blur crossed her eyes. Feeling something push her backwards and into a stone wall, she caught her breath and saw what made her lose her breath. Malfoy.

"Your a cheeky wench aren't you Granger?" The blonde smirked pushing her body into the wall with his lean body. " Such a tounge you have. Can't you put that to a better use? Hm? Like sucking Weasel's orange bushed cock?"

"Get. Off. Me."

"Tut tut tut. The magic words?"

"Fuck. You." she hissed. His lean, hard body was making it harder to breath, and she just wasn't in the mood for his bipolar ass. Looking up into his molten eyes, she saw emotions she has never seen before.

"You will meet me in the Common Room, in one hour. Got it?" Looking at her for another second, he pulled away and vanished.

"Wanker..."

What do you think!? TEll mE!!!
