Chapter 10




Draco was overwhelmed, sounds and sights everywhere, it was a sensory overload. He was about to freak out when he felt a small warm hand slip into his. It was like magic, his tense body relaxed as he stared down at her. She was almost an anchor in this new scary scene. He focused on her, she smiled up reassuringly at him.

“None of this stuff can harm you Draco, I’m here.”


“Sorry, this is just really new. I’m off balance here.”


“This is a place to have fun hun, relax, I’ll show you.”


She led him over to a machine and was about to put some money in to get change when she felt his hand on her shoulder.


“I’m taking you on a date right? You can’t pay for anything on a date with me.”


“Did I just make a huge faux pas?”


“Tres huge, but I’m sure you’ll recover. You’re not losing by much.”


“I didn’t realize this was a competition.”


“You won’t until it’s too late.” He smiled down cheekily at her.


“You’re weird.”


“You’re sexy. Are we going to point out more obvious things? Or are you going to teach me to like this neon pandemonium?”


“Right, we’ll start out slow, we’re gonna start with skeeball.”


She led him over to a strange contraption with circles and holes, watched as she inserted a coin and got some balls. He then watched completely puzzled as she rolled the balls into the circles.


“You want to get as many points as possible, certain circles give you certain amounts of points. The center one gives you the most so aim for that. Got it?”


“Y...Yes?”


“Alright then Mr. Malfoy, think you can beat me?”


“Oh definitely... Have we started yet?”


She laughed and started his game for him. Before long he was laughing.


“Wow Hermione you must really suck to have a first timer kick your butt.” He said pinching her bum. She smacked his arm.


“Alright, you have a choice now between a violent game or a speed game. We’ll do both but which do you want to do first?”


“How violent and how fast are we talking?”


“Bloody and deadly, and very fast.”


“I think we’ll go with speed first.”


“Have you ever driven a car?”


“Today was the first time I’ve seen a car...”


“So no... Well this should be interesting.”


“Why?”


“Because now we’re going to race cars.”


“You’re joking...”


“Not real cars!”


Draco’s body visibly sagged in relief. She laughed and kissed him.


“Come on, you’re having fun right?”


“Actually yes, more than I’ve had in a while.” She beamed up at him.


“Good, come on.”


She led him to a game with strange shaped seats and wheels in front of them. Sitting them both down she explained how to drive, stop and go. Draco seemed fascinated. He watched lights turn colours and when it turned green he hit the go pedal as hard as he could, just like she told him to.


Draco was terrible at driving, but luckily so was Hermione so they both competed for last place. In the end though Draco hit a tree and Hermione barely crossed the finish line. He thought she was absolutely adorable when she gloated. He kept kissing the top of her head, he couldn’t help it, he needed to touch her and she seemed to love it.


“Alright bring on the violent one.”


She then brought him to two giant boxes with strange orange objects attached to black cords. She explained that you had to point them at monsters and pull the small stick underneath to kill them. He got the gist of it and suddenly zombies were everywhere.


He almost freaked but turned and saw how Hermione was doing it and copied the motion. He was killing zombies! He was killed of pretty quickly but Hermione brought him back to life with more coins. She was actually pretty good at it! They both found themselves getting really into it, both laughing and fighting the good zombie fight.


They spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the arcade and playing. Draco couldn’t remember the last time he had just “played” or laughed so hard. He could knew his feelings for this witch growing by the minute. It blew his mind how happy she could make him with something as simple as a day in a muggle arcade. Then again, the idea of just sitting around reading with her made him smile. They left the arcade hand in hand, laughing.


“Getting hungry for that cheeseburger?” She asked. He leaned down and kissed her.


“I’m always up for a cheeseburger, and possibly a milkshake.”


“That sounds wonderful. Chocolate or vanilla?”


“Strawberry actually.”


“Really?”


“Yeah it’s the best! Don’t you like it?”


“I prefer chocolate. Chocolate anything actually.”


He laughed at her. “Alright then lead the way. God knows I have no idea where we are.”


The words were a jolt to her.She paused, “Are you actually enjoying today? Or are you just humouring me?”


He stopped, and turned to her, seeing the defensive hurt in her eyes.


“Hey,” he said lifting up her chin gently with his hand, “I can’t remember the last time I was this happy. Today
has been amazing, I love spending time with you and I actually like muggle London. I want to come here again. And by the way, even if I did care if I was lost, I’d still enjoy it if it was with you. For some reason, you make everything seem alright.”


“I love spending time with you too.” She said softly, he pulled her chin up higher so he could softly kiss her. He wrapped his arms around her to pull her closer and deepened the kiss. Breaking apart for air he rested his forehead on hers and smiled at her.


“Well now that we have that cleared up, point the way so I can get you a chocolate milkshake woman!”


She laughed and kissed him softly again before pointing in front of them. He wrapped his arm around her and they continued walking down the street. Draco felt a little lighter after his little confession.
The only problem was it felt like it had opened up a dam of things wanting to blurt out. He tried to calm his emotions back down but they were bubbling. They walked into a burger joint and were standing in line waiting. Draco started fidgeting, he couldn’t help it, until it blurted out.


“Am I your boyfriend?” His face immediately went beet red and he tried not to make eye contact. Hermione looked up at him and he couldn’t stop.


“I mean. I’m not seeing anyone. I don’t think you are. Are you? I don’t really want to see anyone else and I...
I just ... I like you. I think you like me... I just... I just... I’m just gonna stop talking...”


He looked down at the floor, face even redder now.

“Yes, you are my boyfriend. I am your girlfriend. Yes I like you too, no I don’t want to see anyone else and haven’t even seen someone since you.” She said quietly while smiling up at him.


The smile he gave her took her breath away. He slowly inched towards her, eyes locked he slowly leaned in and softly kissed her lips, smiled at her again and slowly backed away. Not breaking eye contact until he was forced to order and pay for their food. He surprised her by ordering for her.


They sat at the table eating, not saying anything and not breaking eye contact. When they were finished Draco grabbed her hand and led her into an ally way, apperated them to the Leaky Cauldron, flooded them back to his room and immediately pulled her into an intense kiss.


He pulled her flush against him, his hands moving all over her. She returned the kiss with just as much passion. Pushing his jacket off and only breaking the kiss to pull his t-shirt off she began to kiss and bite his neck while running her hands all over his torso.
