Chapter 10
Blinding Discoveries
Harry woke up when the sun hit in directly in the face, he winced and sat up, letting the cloak slip off of his head and pool into his lap. He silently laughed when he realized that if someone saw him he would look like a torso floating in mid air. He pulled the cloak off and stood up. He stretched and then he finally realized something. He didn’t know what time it was, and he was probably late for classes. Harry ran toward the castle and probably busted in a little dramatically, everyone stopped walking and looked at him expectantly and Harry blushed a little.
Everyone went back to walking and Harry made his way slowly up the stairs and walked into Gryffindor Tower. He was all but disturbed when he found it empty and finally got to a clock. Shit…he had missed his first class, and would be lucky if he wasn’t late to his next one. Harry quickly got dressed and ran out of the tower. He was in the process of running down the stairs when he tripped over his own feet and started to fall.
He thought something like, “This is going to suck.” Before he started to fall down the stairs and he winced when his face connected when the stone and then his body continued to tumble down the few stairs that he had left. He landed on the bottom when a loud thud and he sat up and winced, he was pretty sure something in his head was broken, and from the sharp and stinging pain his nose was giving off, he was pretty sure it was that.
He stood up and winced when his vision shook slightly. He continued on his way to his next class, still running at top speed, desperately not wanting to be late…it was Potions after all. Harry finally burst into the room and almost cheered when he got into his seat one second before class started. Severus swept into the room and took his place at the front and Harry was trying to ignore all the strange glances from his classmates. His face…couldn’t look that bad could it?
Harry winced when Severus’ eyes landed on him and widened. “Mr. Potter, what in the bloody he….what happened?” Harry would’ve laughed if it had been under different circumstances. He shrugged and smiled weakly, “I was almost late for class Sir, so I had to run, I um…tripped when I was coming down the stairs and fell, I’m ok though, doesn’t even hurt.” He regretted the words immensely, they seemed to offend his nose, and it gave off a rather sharp and strong wave of pain. Harry bit his lip so he wouldn’t yelp and gave another smile in Severus’ direction.
“And you didn’t think it would be wise to go and visit Madam Pomfrey?”
Harry blushed and realized that he never thought about it. “I…I….”
Severus sneered at him, “Of course you didn’t think Potter, you rarely ever do, go to the hospital wing, and don’t drip blood on my floor!” Harry rolled his eyes and got up and gave a small smile in the direction of a very worried/amused Draco and then proceeded to walk out of the classroom.

Harry was lectured about being careful from Madam Pomfrey and she told him that he was lucky to have walked away with only a broken nose and a minor concussion. She fixed him up in less than 30 minutes and Harry walked out of the hospital wing and walked back to the Potions room. When he walked in everyone’s attention was immediately focused on him.
“I suggest you begin helping your partner Mr. Potter, and I will expect a two scroll essay on the properties and what this potion does from you by tomorrow.” Harry glared at Severus, sure he had to mean to him in public, but did he have to assign him so much bloody homework! Harry sat down next to Ron and Ron looked at him apologetically.
When the class ended Harry walked out with one last glare in Severus’ direction. Draco was waiting for him outside of the classroom and Harry told Ron and Hermione to go on.
“My father said that he would talk to Professor Dumbledore about it and he would owl by the end of the week with the arrangements…are you ok?”
Harry couldn’t help but laugh a little, he knew that Draco was dying to ask him that, but didn’t want to seem too eager. “I’m fine Draco, I just tripped, I was in a bit of a hurry this morning, I um, slept outside and didn’t even wake up until it was almost time for Potions. I bet Professor Binns is mad that I missed his class.”
Draco nodded and smiled, “You looked pretty beat up when you walked in, there was blood pouring from your nose, which was swollen, and blood coming out of this little scratch on your head that was pretty close to your scar.”
Harry blushed, “Sorry, I didn’t know I looked that bad, I mean I knew that I had to be bleeding, and it felt like my nose was broken in half, but I didn’t know my head was bleeding, I just wanted to get to class on time…I didn’t want Snape to give me detention or something.”
Draco nodded in understanding and then smiled, “I will see you later on then?”
Harry nodded and they both walked their separate ways.

Harry walked out later that night and was surprised by the cold, even though he shouldn’t be, it was the middle of November. He walked over to the lake and sat down and started to look at the lake, letting his mind wander while he waited for Draco to come by.
When 10 minutes passed Harry started to feel uneasy, why wasn’t Draco there? Was he not coming? Why wasn’t he coming? Harry forced his thoughts away and took a deep breath, if Draco didn’t come, then he didn’t come, he would still sit here, just like he did when Draco didn’t come.
Another 10 minutes went by and Harry sighed angrily, he couldn’t think when he was waiting for Draco and it was starting to get annoying. Harry laid on his back and looked up at the stars and was dismayed when all he saw were clouds. Great, no Draco and no stars.
Finally Harry heard soft footsteps and he couldn’t help but sigh in relief. Draco’s head appeared above his and Draco looked quite amused.
“Sorry it took me so long in getting here, but I ran into Remus…he told me that I should treat you good.”
Harry blushed darkly and made a promise that he wouldn’t forget to yell at Remus for saying that. What was he thinking!? Draco laughed and sat down next to Harry’s laying form and Harry sat up slowly, “I don’t know why he would do that…he’s a little weird, the full moon is near and all.”
Draco nodded and chuckled softly, “So, what are you going to do tomorrow?”
Harry frowned and thought for a moment then smiled, “Go to Hogsmeade! I need to do my Christmas shopping.”
Draco nodded, “Yea, I think that is what everyone will be doing tomorrow, I did most of my shopping, I only have a couple of people left.”
Harry nodded, “I procrastinate too much, I should’ve done it earlier, so I wouldn’t have to go and be all but crushed in the crowd, but I don’t really like shopping, I never really know what to get for anyone.”
Draco laughed and nodded, “Yea I know how you feel, but I always know what to get whenever I see it, it’s like something just clicks.” Harry turned toward him and was silently surprised to see how close they were.
“Yea….just clicks.” Harry murmured and shivered when Draco’s warm breath made it’s way across his lips. Harry wanted to close the gap in between them, in reality it was only a few inches, but in Harry’s mind it seemed like 100 miles to cross before he could kiss Draco. They were broken out of their reverie when they heard polite coughing and Harry all but jumped away from Draco and his head snapped over to the cough.
Draco did the same thing and their eyes fell on one very amused Severus Snape. “Go into the castle Draco, and I better not see you out after curfew again!” Draco nodded and gave Harry an apologetic look before turning and walking slowly back to the castle. Severus watched him go before turning back and smiling at Harry, “I’m sorry to interrupt Harry, but it’s too cold for you to be out here tonight, you should go inside.”
Harry rolled his eyes, “You didn’t interrupt anything, I can assure you we weren’t going to kiss, even though….I thought about it, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it in the end.”
Severus nodded and watched as Harry stood up, “Well I hope that sometime soon you will get the courage Mr. Potter, because you don’t want to let Mr. Malfoy get away.” With that Severus turned away from Harry in a magnificent display of twirling cloaks and walked away, letting his cloak billow in the slight wind.
Harry followed amused, wondering how Severus got his cloaks to do that. He had tried it himself a couple of times before, but could never get them to do it in such a graceful and accidental looking way.

Author’s Note: I am finally happy with the length of my chapter! Even though I am tired as hell and should really get to bed before it gets to be too late. I have too much homework to do and I might not be able to post again until Thursday. But you should read and review anyway. Eternus.Caries@gmail.com
