The Trains Coming!!
Ok, this is just a lil something I\'m making up right on the spot. Enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ronald? Is that you?" Hermione sat up in bed and looked towards the shadow in the doorway. "What are you doing home so late? It\'s one o\'clock in the morning."
"I\'m sorry, \'Mione, I had a late night at the office. Had a new client today. That\'s all." He didn\'t mention that the new client was Severus Snape. He didn\'t know if she still had that flame for him she used to. Wasn\'t going to chance it though.
"Oh, ok, well come to bed, tomorrow\'s Saturday. You know what that means don\'t you?"
"No, what does that mean?" He didn\'t know of anything happening tomorrow. Hopefully it wasn\'t important, that wouldn\'t do to be on Hermione\'s bad side again. He remembered what happened last time. He was stuck sleepin at his mum\'s house for a week. That wasn\'t fun. With his mum and dad getting on to him about remembering important events. He had at least expected his dad to understand, but no luck there.
"Ronald? Are you listening to me at all?" He saw her sit up in the bed.
"Yes, I am." Ok, so that was a lie, but he was tired, and easily distracted tonight. All he wanted was to go to sleep, not play games with Hermione.
"Fine, then what did I say?" He could see she looked a little smug in the shadows.
"Uhm, well, you see, you said, that there was something important happening tomorrow." He prayed that had at least something to do with it.
He heard her huff of breath. Oh, great, now she\'s annoyed. "No, Ronald, there is nothing happening tomorrow, it\'s happening Sunday. How could you forget? We are getting married after all." He saw her stand up.
"What are you doing Hermione? Of course I didn\'t forget that. But that\'s not happening until Sunday, and you was talking like there was something really important happening tomorrow." He sounded desperate to his own ears. This could not be happening. How could he have forgotten that he was getting married in two days. It was the turning point of his entire life. He was marrying his Hermione. Damn work and damn Severus Snape. The bloody git probably did it on purpose. Showing up 5 minutes before closing time and saying it\'s urgent. Like he really needed to buy a freaking building at ten o\'clock at night.
"Right, and I\'m supposed to believe that? In a million years maybe. I think maybe we should postpone the wedding for a little bit until you\'re sure you want to do this. And don\'t even begin to think I\'m overreacting, Ron. We\'ve been planning this for months, and you\'ve forgotten. You\'re lucky I don\'t do something more dire than that. I am so mad right now." He hears her mumbling and walking towards the closet.
"Hermione? Where are you going? What are you doing? Come on, let\'s talk about this. I have a good excuse. I\'m really tired tonight. Snape came in today 5 minutes before closing time and wanted to buy a building saying it was important. I\'m really tired, I\'m sorry I forgot." He walked over to her where she was in the closet.
There was a stream of moonlight coming in through the window and he could see her profile. There was no talking sense to her tonight. He stooped his shoulders in defeat and walked out to the kitchen waiting for her to get ready.
*****
Hermione shoved through the closet to find her suitcase. She was going to postpone the wedding for a little bit. She was tired of Ron forgetting all the important things. It didn\'t make her feel special. It made her feel like he didn\'t really want this. She would stay at the burrow with the Weasley\'s for a little bit. See what was what. Delve into her own feelings while she was at it. She had been having misgivings about whether this was the right thing to do or not for a couple months now, but she loved Ron and didn\'t want to think about them. Now she didn\'t have a choice.
She packed all her clothes into her suitcase, picked up her wand, and walked into the kitchen. Ron was sitting at the table, a cup of tea in front of him. "I\'m going to be staying at the Burrow for a little bit, Ron. The wedding is postponed for a couple months at least." She stopped there, uncertain of how to continue, so she just walked over and kissed him on the cheek before grabbing her suitcase and her wand and apparating to the Burrow.
*****
Two months had passed since Hermione had gone to the Burrow that early Saturday morning. There were mixed feelings on the matter.
Ron was distressed. He missed having Hermione in his bed every night, having dinner with her, watching movies, and even talking with her.
Hermione was confused. She wanted to be with Ron, but she wasn\'t sure if she could deal with him the rest of her life. She analyzed her feelings and was beginning to think that maybe she didn\'t feel what she thought she felt for Ron, maybe it was just a brotherly love that she felt for him. He didn\'t do anything for her sexually, and while sex was not the basis for a relationship, it stilled played a big part in it. Maybe, just maybe, they weren\'t meant to be.
The Weasley\'s were torn. They wanted to support Ron, but they loved Hermione as their daughter so wanted to support her, also. For once, they decided to stay out of it.
Harry was glad. He didn\'t want to be, but he knew Ron and Hermione would never be good together. Hermione needed someone who would have intelligent conversations with her, and not to be mean, but Ron wasn\'t the intelligent conversation type. Ron needed someone who would dote on him and not mind being a stay at home mother. Hermione was not that type either. She had goals, aspirations. She didn\'t want to be held back by a house full of kids.
The least unlikely to have any feelings on this subject was Snape. He was ecstatic. He wanted Hermione all to himself. He was at that moment contemplating ways of getting rid of the Weasley brat. He didn\'t want something that was already done, he wanted something that would be remembered, so he could savor it the rest of his life. So far, he hadn\'t gotten very far at all. Eaten by cannibals, done. Giant squid, done. Manhood blown up, done. There was just nothing left. He\'d have to think harder on this. In the meantime, he\'d better get to wooing Hermione. Yes, wooing. It wasn\'t such a strange word once you got used to it. He decided to start today. He stood up from his desk, grabbed his wand, and apparated to the Burrow.
*****
Hermione was alone at the Burrow when she heard the knock on the door. She walked to the kitchen and saw Snape through the glass. Quickening her pace, she hurried over and opened the door. "Severus, how good to see you again. How are you? What are you doing here?"
"I\'m doing wonderful, actually, Hermione," he purred. Did he just purr? No, he couldn\'t have done. he wouldn\'t talk to her like that, that\'s just her dreaming again. She looked him over and noticed that he hadn\'t changed at all in the year or so since she\'d last seen him. He still looked edible as a chocolate bar with almonds, and Hermione had a weakness for chocolate and almonds.
"That\'s good. Do come in, we have so much to catch up on. You never mentioned why you were here. Is there something wrong?" She looked into his eyes to see if she could see any worry there.
"No reason, really, my dear, just here to see you." He stepped into the kitchen and took off his cloak. Hermione could have fainted. He wasn\'t wearing his normal black. Severus Snape was actually in jeans. Very nice jeans in Hermione\'s opinion. Nice jeans that showed what a nice behind her old professor actually had. She unconsciously licked her lips. Unluckyily for her, he decided to turn to face her again at that moment. "Are you thirsty Ms. Granger?" he asked in a voice that stated he\'s like nothing better than to provide her with something to drink.
She coughed and finally croaked out, "No, I\'m fine, thank you, Severus. Would you like something to drink? Some water maybe?" Out of the sink on the opposite side of the kitchen, away from him. She had to get away from him before she jumped him. Of course, he looked like he knew exactly what she was thinking. She turned away so he wouldn\'t see her blush. "Come into the living room and we\'ll catch up. We haven\'t seen each other in what, a year now?"
"That\'s about right. So what have you been up to lately, Hermione?"
"Nothing really. Ron and I aren\'t getting married yet. I postponed the wedding. Actually, I\'m thinking about canceling it altogether. I haven\'t told anyone else though, so could you please keep that quiet for a bit?"
"No problem at all. So what has made you decide to do that?"
"I don\'t think I love Ron like I thought I did. It\'s more a brotherly love, and there\'s no passion between us. You know I don\'t base the entire relationship on sex, but it is nice." She blushed while saying this.
"Hermione, would you like to go out tonight? Maybe go to dinner in Muggle London and catch a movie afterwards? It\'s been a while since I\'ve been to a theater and I wouldn\'t want to go alone. It\'s never as much fun alone. They\'ve got this movie, Ironman playing. It looks really good. So how about it?" He looked at her expectantly.
"I don\'t know, Severus. I just decided to stop my marriage, I\'m not sure if I\'m ready to go out yet." She looked at him to see if she had guessed right that he was asking her out on a date.
"We can start out as friends, I don\'t mind, but I do wish you would give me a chance."
She smiled. "OK, I\'ll come with you tonight."
"OK, thank you. Unfortunately, right now, I have to get going. There\'s some stuff I have to take care of." He stood up and followed her into the kitchen. He grabbed his cloak and put it on before leaning in and placing a small kiss on her cheek. "Thank you for agreeing to go with me. You won\'t regret it. See you tonight, say six?"
"Yea, that\'s fine. I\'ll see you tonight. Bye, Severus."
*****
After leaving the Burrow Severus activated the tracking charm he had placed on Mr. Weasley to find him. He had decided to give up finding a unique way of killing him, just to get on with winning Hermione. He noticed he was still at the office. Perfect, now he had an excuse to see him. His building was having some leakage problems. He flicked his wans to apparate to Ron\'s office building. This was going to be fun.
*****
Ron was hoping to get our of here early tonight. He wanted to go and see Hermione. They hadn\'t talked in the two months since she\'d walked out on him. Whenever he went to the Burrow, she would leave or already be gone, like she knew he was coming. It was starting to annoy him. He wanted to work things out. Get things right with his life. He looked up at the sound a bell clinging and saw Mr. Snape at the door.
"Hello, Mr. Snape. How may I help you today?" He hoped this wasn\'t going to take long. He didn\'t like this man. Not only because he had made Harry\'s life hell while they were in school, but because he\'d seen the way he looked at his Hermione, and he didn\'t like it.
"Hello, Mr. Weasley, I have come to report a problem with the building I bought from here a couple months ago. There seems to be a leakage problem." He smirked. Ron didn\'t like that. The man was planning something.
"Are you sure about that? I was just over there making sure everything was in order for you. Aren\'t you planning on turning it into a potions shop? There\'s no leakage problem, I assure you." He smirked back, knowing for certain now the old man was planning something.
"Nuh uh uh, Mr. Weasley, I thought the customer was always right? It even says so on that sign right behind you." Ron looked at the sign behind him that read \'Rule #1. Customer is always right. Rule #2. If the customer is wrong, please look at rule number 1.\'
"Yes, sir. Well then, I guess we had better go and check out that leakage problem then." Ron turned back to his office to collect his cloak and couldn\'t resist the urge to roll his eyes. Better get this over with as quick as possible so he can go see Hermione faster. He couldn\'t wait to start winning her back.
*****
Hermione was at the Burrow when Snape came back with the news. Ron had died in some kind of freak accident. He explained the entire thing to her. He had bought a building from Ron\'s company and it had a leakage problem, so they went over today to work on it. Somehow Ron ended up getting hit by a really powerful geyser of water and thrown out the window into a train that happened to be passing at that exact moment. She was distraught, but luckily she had someone there she could lean on in her time of need. She couldn\'t believe this was happening. Yea, she was going to call of the wedding completely, but Ron was her best friend. She was going to miss him. She couldn\'t believe how cruel fate was sometimes. She turned her face into Severus\'s shoulder and cried all the harder.
*****
Snape almost had trouble keeping the grin off his face. Yes, him, Severus Snape. Foromidable potions teacher and Master Spy, grinning. It was almost too good to be true, that train passing at that exact moment. Even he couldn\'t ask for that much. It was wonderful, but it wouldn\'t do to show his true feelings to Hermione. She would never wanna be with him then. So he just held her while she cried over her missed friend. He\'s cancel the date for tonight, him being the considerate person he is, and wait a couple months. She\'d be his in no time at all. He couldn\'t wait.
*****
It had been three years since Ron had died and Hermione was finally ready to get married again. She was glad Severus had waited until she was ready. He was so considerate when he wanted to be, and that was one of the reasons she loved him. In ten minutes she was going to be walking down the aisle towards him. She heard the music start and her daughter, from her and Severus\'s first time, started walking down the aisle with her basket of flowers and pretty white dress with scuffs on the knees. Soon after, her bridesmaid Ginny started down the aisle. She was glad Ginny hadn\'t disowned her for marrying someone else. She didn\'t know what she would do. Ginny was her bestfriend now besides Harry and she couldn\'t live without either of them. It was her turn now. She stepped out of the tent and started walking towards Severus. It was like walking home.
*****
Severus couldn\'t believe the beauty in creme walking towards him was his Hermione. He had been steadily pursuing her for three years now, and finally she had agreed to become his in name as well as body. He looked over at his daughter sitting next to Molly Weasley who was wiping her eyes with a handkerchief. He couldn\'t believe how lucky he was. He looked at Hermione coming towards him, and couldn\'t believe how much it felt like he was finally home.
