Chapter 10

Potions and Killing Curses

Chapter 10

“So, let me get this straight. I was poisoned by the Rhine Maiden poison, you brewed the antidote while Sirius worked on my potion, he completed it and made it stronger, and they two of you didn’t kill one another?” Hermione asked.

“That about sums it up,” Severus answered with a chuckle.

“I’m still trying to get over the fact that you two didn’t kill one another. While I’m pondering that scenario, could I get some food and something to drink,” she requested wearily.

“I’ll be right back with your food. I love you Hermione,” he said.

“I love you too Severus,” she smiled.

“What have you to report Wormtail?” Voldemort demanded.

“It seems that Dumbledore has taken Sirius Black to a secluded location. For what reason I have no idea,” Wormtail reported.

“No doubt to save the mudblood. If Black is able to help them, Snape will successfully brew the antidote. Damnit! Send for Lucius. We can’t wait any longer. We need to strike and strike now!” Voldemort ordered.

Wormtail scurried from the throne room. Voldemort stormed to a window and looked out over the snow covered lawn of the mansion. ‘It’s time I end this. I will kill Potter and Dumbledore. The Wizarding world will be mine and the traitors will pay and the mudbloods will die. I think I’ll make Severus watch as I have my Death Eaters rape and torture his little whore before I finally kill him,’ he thought as his wicked laughter echoed off the stone walls.

Dumbledore sat in his office when there was a knock. In walked Draco Malfoy. “Can I help you Mr. Malfoy?” Albus asked.

“Sir, I just received a letter from my father. Voldemort is going to attack Hogwarts in two days. Myself and the others are to meet them at the edge of the Forbidden Forest,” Draco reported.

“The time has come. Tell the other Slytherins to be ready. I will notify the D.A. and the Order. Thank you,” Albs said.

“Sir, what about Professor Snape and Hermione? We’ve been worried about them,” Draco questioned.

“They will be there. They have been in seclusion working on a potion. It is now complete. I will go to them and inform them. I will also tell them about you and the other Slytherins being spies,” Albus answered.

Draco nodded and left. Albus sighed and got to his feet. ‘So it has begun. I must send for the Order and the Aurors. It is time to end this once and for all,’ he thought as he called for Minerva.

“How is she?” Sirius asked as Severus entered the kitchen.

“Still trying to grasp that you and I haven’t killed each other. By the way. I’m sorry about Remus. I know you and he were like brothers,” Severus replied.

“Thank you. It’s still hard, but I will grow stronger because of this, as will Harry. At least I know he’s happy with James and Lily now,” Sirius said with a faint smile.

Severus nodded as he began fixing some food for Hermione. Ten minutes later, he re-entered the bedroom and found Hermione reading. She smiled when she saw the food. “Your meal my lady,” he said as he bowed.

“Thank you my lord,” she giggled.

Severus sat the tray on her lap and chuckled as Hermione dug right in. “What? You try sleeping for a month straight and see how hungry you are when you wake up,” she shot at him.

“Albus! What are you doing here?” Sirius exclaimed as Albus entered the library.

“I need to talk to you, Hermione and Severus. It seems the final battle is at hand,” Albus answered.

Sirius sent Celest to fetch the two love birds. A few minutes later they came into the library. “Hello Hermione. I’m glad to see you’re awake and I wish this was a social call, but it’s not. It seems Voldemort will be attacking Hogwarts in two days. We need the potion so it can be distributed to the Order, the Aurors, and the D.A,” Albus said.

“It’s ready. How did you find this out?” Hermione questioned.

“Severus wasn’t our only spy. Last year, Draco, Blaise, Crabbe, Goyle, Pansy, Millicent, and several other Slytherins came to me. They have joined our side. The only Order members who knew were myself, Minerva, Remus, Arthur, as well as Harry and Ron. Harry and Ron were told after you went into hiding. An hour ago, Draco came to me saying he had received a letter from Lucius,” Albus explained.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I could have helped them. Not to mention that Draco is my godson!” Severus yelled.

“He insisted that you not know. That way, should you be discovered as a spy, they couldn’t be used against you and vise versa,” Albus answered.

“When do we leave?” Sirius inquired.

“Be ready by tomorrow evening. Everyone will be gathered at Hogwarts by then,” Albus said.

“What of the younger students?” Hermione asked.

“They will be moved to a safe location and watched over by Filius, Aurora Sinstra, and Elizabeth Vector,” Albus answered.

“We’ll be ready,” Severus said.
