Forming a Diversion
James had been leaned up against a tree thinking of what to do when Remus shot up again from the fallen tree he had been sitting on.
“How could I not remember this,” Remus said. He quickly said Lily’s name, and the wand spun around pointing them in the right direction. “I was busy thinking they would have removed the ability to trace her, but it looks like they forgot.”
Sirius patted Remus on the back, and in a flash the group was out of the woods and headed in the right direction.
“Is she somewhere near?” James asked Remus.
“Yes,” he said looking at the wand. The closer you came to what you were looking for, the more the wand would tremble.
They had been running for a good fifteen minutes, when they came upon an old house. The chimney was crumbling and bricks were being blown off by the fierce wind.
“She is in there,” Remus said. Using the wand would not help now, it could point you in the right direction, but it was not exact so it could show you what room she was being held in.
“We can’t burst in there,” Sirius said grabbing James’ arm. He had begun running for the house. “We will be killed.”
James let out a frustrated sigh and looked at his friends. They were right, but the more time they took, the less likely Lily would be alright.
Sirius stared at the house thinking, they needed a diversion.
“Got it. I will lure them out here. Make it seem like the storm is taking a toll on the house. You guys go inside,” Sirius said with his wand out.
Remus and James nodded, they neared the house, crouching outside a basement window. The exact window that was just above Lily, but they did not look inside, nor hear her muffled cries.
