Chapter Ten
*
Hermione sat in the downstairs den with Ron and Harry, curled into the corner of an oversized chair as she read her book. The boys were engrossed in a game of chess and were paying Hermione no mind, which was just fine with her. She was supposed to be engrossed in the book she was reading but she couldn’t even remember what the book was. She couldn’t even remember the title.
She quietly flipped her book shut and read the title, shaking her head. It was a collection of Muggle fairytales, which would have been ironic under any circumstance other then the one she was dealing with. She had been raised to believe that magic was fake, but that happily-ever-afters always worked out.
Well, it seems that things always end up being reversed. Magic did indeed exist and there were no such things as happily-ever-afters. If there were, things would be different.
Lucius would have been her knight in shining armor, coming to rescue her instead of acting like a selfish little boy. On second thought, Lucius wouldn’t have needed to save her because Severus wouldn’t have done what he did.
She had to fight herself from clenching her teeth and throwing her book across the room. She wasn’t just mad at the dour wizard, she was raging pissed. Just the thought of the Potions Master right now was enough for her to want to commit homicide. She could not believe what he had done to her, and then the way he had treated her at lunch. She had been willing to go to him after a few weeks and talk to him, once heads had been cooled and the shame and humiliation had died down a bit.
Now, well now she just wanted to chop his dick off and shove it up his arsehole. Give him a taste of his own bloody medicine and see how he liked it!
She was nearly positive she could find a way to have Lucius help her.
How dare Severus air their dirty laundry in front of the boys? Granted, one of them was too wrapped up in his own world to see what was going on in front of him, but Harry was smarter then most gave him credit for. With a little bit of guidance and help, Harry had managed to defeat Voldemort time and again from the tender age of eleven. Harry was sure to cotton on eventually and when he did, Hermione was sure there would be Hell to pay. Not only for the two Dark Wizards, but also for herself.
How could she have been so stupid? Or rather, how could she have allowed her hormones to get the better of her? Her two lovers were wizards just like any other. She should have just given herself a hand with her problem, or tried to go on a date.
Or waited for Ron to come home.
Her thoughts died at that suggestion. Could she have waited for Ron to come home? Could she be with him now without complicating things further? Was she so wanton that she was considering being with him again just to curb her own lusts? Not that she didn’t love him, as she truly did, but to be with three wizards would just –
She groaned abruptly, dropping her head into her hands and closing her eyes. This was all wrong. So wrong!
“Hermione? Is something wrong?” She raised her head to see Harry and Ron looking at her with concern. While they both were concerned, she saw two different things in their faces. Ron had a more gentle concern on his face, the way one would worry for a dear loved one. Harry looked a little cross, as if he were privy to her most private thoughts and had somehow sensed that there was more going on then was visible to the eye. She smiled kindly at them and started to offer an explanation when her two lovers appeared out of no where, walking into the room as if they owned it. It was the same confidence and overwhelming arrogance that they brought whenever they fucked her.
She felt her eyes narrowing and her anger growing before she could school her expression. She quickly blanked her face as Lucius raised an eyebrow at her, reminding her that there were others present. She couldn’t let the boys see what was going on between her and the two wizards. She couldn’t afford for her emotions to be known, as she didn’t have the time or the patience for that argument to happen.
“It seems we are being called away,” Hermione wasn’t ready for Severus’ silky voice and it hit her like a fist to the gut. She shouldn’t be affected by him this way, especially after what had happened. She felt sick to her stomach as she felt the affect his words had on her, the way they curled around her like softly perfumed smoke, beating against her skin and trying to sink into her pores, trying to find any way to get inside of her. The only problem was Severus Snape was already under her skin, dwelling in a place that human hands could not reach. He had a hold on her heart, on her organs, on her blood and the very thing that made her exist. He was a fucking infection in her bloodstream, a virus that –
Wait, did he just say that they were being called away?
With a furrowed brow, Hermione looked at her two ex-lovers (lovers?) and saw that they were dressed in matching robes of black. She saw that they both carried their Death Eater masks in their left hands. Hermione felt her stomach drop out of her body and she was standing up before she could think, taking a step forward but stopping as she saw Severus widen his eyes at her and slowly cock his head to the side. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. That was the second time she had nearly given herself away in front of the boys! Gods damn them all if the boys found out!
“What do you mean, Snape?” Ron stood up from the floor and walked away from the chess game, Harry following him after a seconds’ consideration.
“It means, Mr. Weasely, that the Dark Lord has requested our presence.” Lucius drawled, tearing his eyes away from Hermione to look at her two dimwitted companions. Ron furrowed his brow in a poor imitation of Hermione while Harry stood there, regarding the two Death Eaters knowingly. Lucius was surprised to see in the Potter boy’s eyes a depth of understanding. He had long regarded them both to be completely dimwitted, with utterly no sense between them. It seemed, though, that Potter had the ability to comprehend and discern things for himself. Lucius checked that knowledge away to be explored later, acknowledging that the Gryffindor boy could eventually be a problem.
He looked to Hermione and was very proud of her for schooling her features the way that she did. She looked utterly blank, as if the news did not affect her at all. Slowly, though, his pride turned into something bitter as the voice inside of his head told him that she was probably glad for their departure, as now she would not have to worry about running into them somewhere in the house. She probably relished the thought that now she would be free to do whatever she wanted with her boys, possibly even taking up with Ron where they left off, using all the little tricks she had learned with them to satisfy her man-child.
Maybe she would even invite in Harry, as she had grown accustomed to two wizards servicing her.
Lucius balked at the malicious thought. Severus and himself had just abused her, shown her no regard, so who was he to paint her with blame? Who was he to deny her happiness, even if it came in the unfortunate forms of the two Gryffindor boys?
He realized that Severus was busy telling Potter about their plans. He cursed himself for getting distracted, as he should have been paying attention to what his comrade was saying.
“I am not sure when we will return. No one can really make sense of the Dark Lord’s mad demands. He could only want us to give him an update, or he could send us into the field. As it stands, he may only require the brief service of one of us, while thy other is kept by his side for an extended period of time,” he looked at Hermione, his heart sinking at the blank look on his face. “As it stands, Lucius and I are not a pair and we often do not work together. We do not come together as a matched set.”
Hermione’s eyes widened ever slightly, as she knew that pink flowers were blossoming on her cheeks. He was offering her an out, telling her that she could be happy with Lucius. He was making it known that she could have one without the other. Hermione thought very briefly on that idea before an image of Lucius staring her tear stained face as Severus abused her flashed into her eyes. She had seen a cruelty and contempt that was so akin to the old Lucius Malfoy that Hermione realized she was allowing herself to be tricked by them. She was allowing their bodies, the way they could turn her into nothing with just the right word, and their hard brutal fucks to turn her into something she never wanted to be. How dare they try and turn her into their whore? How dare Severus offer his supposed friend up to be her piece of meat?
She turned her head to the side, breaking eye contact with them both and wrapping her arms around herself. “Yes, well, that’s a nice thing to know, but I’m sure Voldemort requires both of your services.” She looked back at them, these word games dragging her down. “As we are not in need of your services here, please take the time to accomplish whatever task he has set in store for you. “ Hermione watched Severus’ nostrils flair before he gave curt bow.
“We’ll see too it,” he said in short, clipped tones before turning on his heel and exiting the den. Lucius raised his eyebrow at Hermione and inclined his head ever so slightly.
“If you wouldn’t mind, I would like a word with you, Miss Granger.” His tone was insistent, with no room for arguing. She draw in a breath and then pushed her head back, walking past him and out the door with her head held high. Lucius followed, shutting the door on her two bewildered friends. Hermione had disappeared a ways down the hallway, far enough away that the boys would not be able to hear whatever it was that Lucius had to say.
“Hermione, what are you thinking? You can’t act like that around your friends. They are sure to figure out what is going on eventually if you keep acting the way you are. You need to learn how to school your face entirely, Hermione, without waiting for one of us to give you a clue as to what to do.” Lucius grasped onto her shoulders and pulled her closer to him, his face within kissing distance of hers. “We can not allow them to know.”
Hermione narrowed her eyes, trying to push away from him. “Why are you so worried about them knowing? Afraid of what they’ll do once they find out how you let Severus abuse me as you did nothing?”
Lucius closed his eyes. “You know that is not the reason why.” He opened his eyes to stare into her rage filled orbs. “You know that there is more at stake here then just that. Who knows how those two will react if they find out -,”
“That you watched as Severus brutalized me?”
Lucius’ own tempter flared up and he squeezed Hermione’s shoulders tightly, applying more then ample pressure. “Get this through that head of yours. We are living in very dangerous times. Severus and I’s positions as Death Eaters and spies are a precarious one. If those two boys find out about our entanglement, who is to say that they wouldn’t think it was just an assignment from the Dark Lord to get closer to you, and in turn, them? Who is to say that they wouldn’t just react badly in general? I know that Weasely would feel the need to defend you, putting himself in a dangerous position, but Potter is the one that could end up getting hurt. He is very rash when it comes to you, thinking that it is his job to protect you. Severus is in a bad place right now, Hermione. He feels genuine remorse for what he did, but I’m not sure he knows how to express that. Now we are being called away. Do you think you can use this time to think over what happened and see if you can come up with a solution to the problem that does not involve hating him for the rest of your life?” Lucius let go of one shoulder, running his fingers down her hair, causing Hermione to shudder in pleasure. “He truly cares about you and that scares him.”
Hermione looked into her lover’s (ex-lover’s?) clear blue eyes and saw the truth behind his words. Still, she knew that her forgiveness would come with a price and she wasn’t sure that it was a price Severus wanted to pay.
Whatever Lucius saw in her eyes was enough to convince him, and he bent down to capture her lips very quickly. The kiss, while chaste and swift, left Hermione feeling heady.
Lucius broke from her before it could become anything else and stood back from her. He slowly bowed, then took another step back.
“Until we meet again,” he turned on his heels without another word, striding down the corridor purposefully. He was obviously a man that did not believe in goodbyes.
Hermione raised a hand to her lips, which were tingling ever so slightly.
“Stay well.”
