Regrets

Molly quietly walked into the hospital room and sat down. She stared at the sleeping young man who softly snored before her. She felt her heart ache with love for this brave and determined young man. She had waited sixteen years for this day and had looked forward to it with every breath that she took. She knew that she owed him her family’s existence. She knew that if one of her children had died that they never would have be able to go on and function normally again, especially George. The twins were as close as any two people could be and there was no way that one could go on without the other. George was the gentle twin, the sensitive one who tempered his brothers more outrageous behaviors.

Harry groaned and rolled over. His eyes popped open when he sensed someone sitting beside him. “Molly,” he softly said with a smile.

“Harry!” she cried, wrapping her arms around him and sobbing. “I don’t know how to thank you! You don’t know how many times I wanted to talk to you or your Mum about what you have done for our family!”

“Why didn’t you?” he asked.

“Arthur and I swore a Wizards oath to you that we would never speak of it to anyone else.”

Harry frowned and then remembered the night that he had gone back in time. He remembered telling them that the oath was not necessary but that they had insisted. He smiled and said, “I release you from your oath, Molly. You and Arthur can speak of it to whomever you would like.”

“What you did for us was so brave, Harry. I don’t know how to thank you,” she said.

Harry blushed. “I didn’t do it for your thanks, I did it because I loved you and all of your family. You were the only family that I had. I couldn’t try to save my parents without trying to save Fred as well. Did George still get his ear blown off?” he asked.

“What?” she gasped.

Harry thought for a moment and grinned. “No, I guess he wouldn’t have because I was never at the Dursley’s for him to come and get,” he laughed.

“George lost his ear?” she asked incredulously. “Why didn’t you tell us?” she demanded.

Harry smiled. “I didn’t want to tell you to much and change the future to much. I figured telling you about Fred’s death was important, but George could live without an ear.”

“Gods, Harry!” Molly said in shock.

“It seems like a lot of things have changed,” he said pensively.

“I’m sure that they have. There was no way that everything would be the same after your trip to the past. I remember you telling me that Ron and Hermione would fall in love,” she said.

Harry blushed. “Yeah, well…”

Molly smiled. “Harry, I am happy that you and Hermione are in love. If in another life Ron was happy with her that is fine, but they are so obviously not suited for one another. He is better off with Pansy. He would bore Hermione quickly with all his talk of Quidditch.”

“I was with Ginny in my last life,” he said softly. “But now, I feel as though she is my little sister and I know that I could never have romantic feelings for her,” he said.

Molly scowled at that. “I would have loved to have you as a husband to my daughter, but I’m afraid that you are not exciting enough for her. She craves adventure and will need someone who will constantly keep her entertained. It’s a good thing that Draco has large coffers,” she said.

“You knew?” he asked in shock.

“Of course I know, Harry! Its my job to keep an eye on all of my children, including you!”

Harry blushed and wondered exactly what Molly knew. “How do you feel about Ginny and Draco?”

Molly sighed. “If she loves him that is all I can ask for. I would never have thought that my daughter would attach herself to a death eaters family, but they did redeem themselves in the end.”

“Draco’s not a bad sort. He loves her and would give his life protecting her,” Harry said.

“I know he would, Harry. Now, you get some sleep and when you get out we’ll throw a big party and celebrate your success.”

Harry smiled ruefully. “It wasn’t quite a success, was it?” he softly whispered.

Molly shook her head. “Don’t think like that, Harry. You still saved them. Your father had ten more years of life and your Mum is still here. If you hadn’t have done what you did, your parents would be dead, your sister never born, and my son would be dead as well. That’s four lives you saved that we know of.”

“I wonder how many lives were lost because of what I did,” he asked.

“Harry, you can’t dwell on this. It’s done. You made a choice and now you must live with it and take the good with the bad.”

“Before, Uncle Sirius went to Azkaban for killing Peter Pettigrew. He spent several years there before he broke out my third year. He lived for two more years after that and was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange. If I hadn’t have gone back, he would have lived longer,” he said.

“He might have lived longer, but most of the those years were spent in Azkaban. I know Sirius never would have been happy to waste his life away that way. He died a hero, and he would have liked that. Not to mention, your father was his best friend, and if he had to die, dying with him would have been the way that he wanted to go.”

Harry nodded. “I know that you’re right. He always talked about my dad and sometimes I thought he was using me as a replacement for my father.”

“They were very close, Harry,” Lilly said walking into the room. “They were so close, that sometimes I felt like I was intruding in their relationship. They would have wanted to go together. Your dad wouldn’t have wanted to go on without Sirius, and vice versa. Don’t beat yourself up over this,” she said.

“Mum,” he softly smiled.

Lilly turned to her best friend and pulled her closely for a hug. “I have wanted to talk to you about this for so long,” she whispered with tears in her eyes.

Molly hugged her back and cried. “Me too! I knew the night that you and Harry showed up that he had been to see you as well. But I swore an oath that I would never discuss it again with anyone but Arthur,” she sobbed.

“Harry told me that you were like a mother to him after we died. Oh Molly, how can I ever thank you?” Lilly cried.

“You don’t need to thank me! Harry saved my son!” she sobbed back.

Harry smiled as he watched his two mothers hold each other and cry. Women were very confusing.

A/N: Sorry it took so long to update...I wasn\'t sure what to do at this point...I don\'t think that this is going to be a very long story...Probably just a couple more chapters to tie off loose ends and see if anything bad happened because of Harry\'s trip...please review and let me know if you think that i missed anything.
