Dinner pt. 1
Hermione trembled at the sight before her. Two long, parallel tables spanned the length of the room, bridged at the end by another table. Voldemort sat in the middle of the third table with Narcissa to his left, followed by Blaise’s parents and younger sister. There were four empty places to his right, which Hermione assumed was for their group.
What truly frightened Hermione was not the sight of Voldemort, but the sight of the hundreds of Death Eaters lining the tables leading to him. All wore their ceremonial masks and robes, so she couldn’t make out who they were, and they all taunted her as she and Draco passed them. She shrank to closer to Draco’s side as they walked, and he whispered to her to ignore them and kept walking. When one of the Death Eaters called out the name mudblood and threw a piece of bread at them however, Draco lost it. He spun around, pushing Hermione behind him and the bread froze in midair. The entire room went silent.
“Anyone care to own up to this act? How about to the slander of my fiancé?” Draco drawled in a cold, low voice. Of course no one moved, much less spoke up. Draco cast a spell that sent the bread back to its former owner, where it hovered. Draco smirked. He cast a spell that caused the Death Eater to float above the table, then turned and bowed to Voldemort.
“My Lord Voldemort, I present to you one who has broken the commandments you set forth, and ask that he face your judgment.” He said formally.
“What commandment is he being accused of breaking?” Voldemort asked, standing.
“He has insulted and offended me, as well as attempted to attack me, through insult and attack on my future wife.” Draco said.
“Very well. To spare the ladies’ sensibilities and appetites I will postpone judgment and punishment until our next meeting. However until that time he shall be held in the dungeons on prisoner rations, minus the bread.” Voldemort said, and with a snap the man disappeared.
As Draco finished leading Hermione to the head table the room remained silent. Draco held out Hermione’s seat for her then sat in his own, directly to the right of Voldemort. Blaise and Ginny were to Hermione’s left. Once they were all seated Voldemort stood.
“Today we feast to celebrate the engagement of two prominent Death Eaters. My heir, Draco Malfoy, has chosen the smartest, strongest witch of his generation, Hermione Granger, for his bride. True to his position as Draco’s closest friend and right hand man, Blaise Zabini has chosen Miss Granger’s closest female friend, Ginevra Weasley, for his own bride. The commandments regarding the royal family shall extend to them from this moment forth. Let it be known that I approve of and am very pleased with both their choices, and they have my blessing.” Voldemort said. The Death Eaters remained silent. Voldemort nodded to Draco as he sat.
“I take great pride in the power and beauty of my future wife. I expect every man here, and those missing as well, to treat her with the same reverence and respect with which you treat myself. From now on, any use of the word ‘mudblood’ in her presence or in reference to her will be considered a major violation of the commandments. Lord Voldemort has agreed on this addition to the commandments regarding Hermione.” Draco said as he stood following Voldemort. Voldemort nodded in agreement and Draco began to sit back down. Before he could however, a Death Eater jumped up and began shouting.
“HOW DARE YOU! How dare you defile our order by bringing this mudblood here! How dare you break the agreements of your family by marrying that filth instead of your pureblood betrothed!? I will not allow you to complete this discretion, this….horrific mistake!” The female death eater screamed. She raised her wand to Draco and began to shout out the killing curse.
Before she could finish saying Avada Hermione jumped up. Her eyes were blazing and electricity caressed her skin. Hermione screamed incoherently and thrust out her arms, palms forward. A bolt of pure power shot out and hit the Death Eater square in the chest. The woman screamed in pain for what felt like hours before falling in a smoking heap to the floor. Hermione collapsed in her seat, faint for a moment and breathing heavily. After a few moments she opened her eyes and began to tremble.
The Death Eater’s robes and mask disintegrated and smoking burns were left all over her skin. Her hair was gone as well, and her eyes were missing. Her Dark Mark glowed on her chest, just above a small tattoo of her family crest which labeled her as Pansy Parkinson. The only sound that could be heard was Hermione’s sobs echoing through the room.
Hi Again! Wow bet you didn’t expect another update so soon did ya? I wanted to make the dinner scene all one chapter but I’m not feeling well today and since I had this bit written already I wanted to get it out there. I realize Voldemort is a little OOC about the punishment, he will continue to be like that around women and his ‘family’ (Draco, Narcissa and now Hermione). Other than that he will continue to be cruel. Well leave me some feedback and I may have another chapter up by Monday or Tuesday!
