Author’s Note:
I hope you all enjoyed the last chapter. It was fun getting to write that kind of fighting scene. I’m sorry that Randi got hexed, but I didn’t want to make her invulnerable.

“No one goes through that door without the Minister’s approval.” The large black Auror said firmly as he blocked her way.
“But she’s a heroine, Leo!” the blonde reporter protested, “Couldn’t I at least have a moment?”
The Auror crossed his arms and glared at the woman. “The answer is still no, Rita. You’ll have to wait for the details, just like everyone else.”
Severus, Dumbledore and the Minister came walking down the hall. The reporter frowned at the Auror then approached the trio. “Oh, there you are, Minister. Can you tell me what happened last night at the mill?”
Rufus looked at the Auror and said, “Get her out of here, will you?”
The Auror grabbed her by the arm and escorted her towards the waiting area as she yelled and screamed about suppressing the news and making her job more difficult than it had to be. Suddenly their attention was drawn away from Rita Skeet’s dramatics as the door to Randi’s room opened and a doctor came out.
“How is she?” the Minister asked, looking at the doctor expectantly.
“She’s resting now.” The doctor replied solemnly, “It was a nasty hex, but we were able to give her an antidote before it had a chance to damage her esophagus and stomach. She’ll be all right. She just needs to take it easy for a couple of days.”
The Minister smiled then made his way into the room with Severus and Dumbledore behind him. Randi was lying under the covers in the bed. Her eyes opened when she heard them come in. Slowly, she turned her head towards them. “Who hexed me, and can I please kill them for doing it?”
The three men smirked at each other and the Minister replied, “I don’t think you’ll be hexing anyone for the moment. That’s quite a nasty hex you took.”
Randi scowled. “I’ve had better.”
“I’m sure you have, my dear.” The Minister chuckled, “How are you feeling?”
She tried to sit up, but Dumbledore promptly pushed her back down gently with his hand, “Oh no you don’t. You need to rest. Today’s classes have been canceled, and Severus has agreed to teach your classes tomorrow.”
She glared at Severus and muttered, “Opportunist!”
He only smirked in response.
Randi then looked up at the Minister. “How did we do?”
“Well, “ he began, “We lost three Aurors during the process, unfortunately. My assistant is currently notifying their families. Voldemort is dead now, thanks to that spell you taught Mr. Potter, and the Death Eaters are all either dead or awaiting a nice, long stay in Azkaban. Let me be the first to congratulate you on a job well done, Miss MacKenzie.”
She frowned. “Three of them dead? I should have done better.”
“My dear, it was a terrible battle.” The Minister soothed, “There’s nothing more you could have done.”
“Please give my condolences to their families.” She asked softly.
The Minister gave a nod. “I assure you, I will, but don’t think on that just now. The other Ministers will be here Saturday, and they’ll want to hear all about you and these Corillians that are coming. I’m ordering you to take it easy until then, clear?”
Reluctantly she replied, “Yes, Sir. I’ll behave.”
“I spoke to your father this morning, Randi.” Dumbledore said, “He asked me to give you this.” The old wizard bent down and kissed her forehead gingerly, “And to tell you he’s so proud to have you for a daughter.”
“Thank you, Headmaster.” She replied gratefully and reached out to squeeze his hand, “We did it, didn’t we?”
He gave a nod. “Yes we did, my dear, thanks to you.”
Randi looked at Severus. “Well, I can’t take all the credit. He was the one who told us where they’d be.”
Severus put his hand over his heart and softly replied, “I’m touched.”
“You arrogant chit!” she exclaimed crossly, “Get off my planet!”
Dumbledore and the Minister burst out laughing and Severus just stood there with a pleased grin on his face.
“We’ll go now and let you rest, dear.” Dumbledore said gently, “I’ll see you back at school tomorrow evening.”
The old wizard walked out of the room, with the Minister behind him.
Severus placed a bouquet of red roses on her bedside table and silently left the room. She looked at them and shook her head, “He’s still an arrogant bastard, but at least he has good taste.”
