When Worlds Collide

Summery: Hermione is being targeted by an evil that hasn’t set foot on earth in over a thousand years. Now, she must be protected. What happens when she and her protector fall in love? R/R

Chapter 9

Hermione awoke on Christmas morning in Anakin’s warm embrace. She smiled and snuggled closer. Anakin sighed and held her a little tighter. She rolled over so that she was now facing him. She gave him a gentle kiss.

“Mmm. Morning.” He sighed.

“Good morning. Merry Christmas Anakin.” She replied with a smile.

“Merry Christmas to you Hermione.” He chuckled.

The two shared a tender kiss. Just then there was a pounding on the door. Hermione groaned as she heard Harry’s voice on the other side saying something about presents. Hermione and Anakin laughed as they climbed out of bed.

“We better go, or else they’ll send a search party after us.” She said.

“I agree.” He replied.

They got dressed, Hermione grabbed the gifts she had for Harry, Draco, and Anakin, Anakin had hers in his pocket, and they made their way toward Gryffindor Tower. They entered the Common Room and found Harry and Draco surrounded by gifts.

“Bout time you two got here.” Draco teased.

“Oh shut up. Here. Merry Christmas.” Hermione said with a mock glare as she handed Draco his gift.

Everyone began laughing. They quickly exchanged gifts and began opening them. Harry and Draco had gotten Anakin a book on wandless magic to help him when he returned to Coruacant. Finally, Hermione reached over and handed Anakin his gift.

“I hope you like it.” She said.

“Thank you. Here’s yours.” He smiled.

Hermione smiled brightly as she began to open the box. When she saw what was in it. She gasped. She then looked up to meet his eyes.

“Turn it over.” Anakin said.

She did so. The inscription read:

My Darling Hermione,

No matter what the future holds, you will always hold my heart.

Love Forever,
Anakin

“Oh Anakin. It’s beautiful. Thank you!” She cried as she leaned over and kissed his cheek.

“You’re welcome. Now, what did you get me?” He asked with a smile.

Anakin slowly removed the sky blue paper. He then opened the black box. On a pillow of green velvet laid a necklace. On a chain of gold was a pendant of a roaring lion. On the back was an inscription.

Anakin,
I will love you until the end of time and even after. Never forget me, as I will never forget you.

Hermione

“Thank you Hermione. I love it. I will never take it off.” He said as he placed it around his neck.

Draco and Harry smiled at the couple. Both hoping that somehow, things would work out for them.

“Everything is prepared Master.” Darth Maul said.

“Good. I know you will make me proud Darth Maul.” Palpatine replied.

The two turned and began walking toward Voldemort’s throne room. They entered and found Lucius and McNair waiting for them. Palpatine cleared his throat and the three wizards turned and faced him and Maul.

“It is time. I hope your followers know their job.” Palpatine said.

“They do. They will not fail.” Voldemort hissed.

“Let us hope not.” Palpatine countered.

Darth Maul, Lucius, and McNair took hold of the port key and vanished a few seconds later. The three reappeared a few seconds later just inside the Forbidden Forest. Darth Maul turned and faced them.

“This is where we go our separate ways. You have your job and I have mine. Don’t come to me for help if you mess up.” Maul instructed.

“Don’t worry. We won’t.” Lucius hissed.

The three split up and made their way toward the castle.

Anakin and Hermione were taking an evening walk around the lake after dinner. A fresh blanket of snow had fallen earlier that day. She and Anakin had joined Harry and Draco in a snowball fight against Hagrid. They lost of course.

“I love you Hermione.” Anakin said as they stopped and he pulled her into his arms.

“And I love you Anakin.” Hermione replied.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. Before the kiss could go any further, they jerked away.

“Did you feel that?” She asked.

“Yes. A Sith Lord is here.” He answered.

They withdrew their light sabers just as Darth Maul emerged from the shadows.

“Well, you’ve made my job much easier.” Maul laughed.

The fight began. Hermione and Anakin fighting as one.

Severus sat at his desk going over some last minute grading. He had just finished marking the last paper when he felt it. Something or someone entering his classroom. Severus quietly got to his feet and moved into the shadows and waited. A second later, Lucius and Walden walked into the study.

“Where is he?” Lucius asked.

“Avada Kedavra.” Severus said.

Walden fell to the floor dead. Lucius spun around and was instantly knocked off his feet. Severus called for Lucius’s wand and then stunned Lucius. He quickly bound the platinum blonde wizard and called for Albus.

“Ugh!” Hermione cried out as she was knocked to the ground.

“Pity. She’s suppose to be so powerful.” Maul laughed.

Anakin flipped in front of Hermione and continued fighting. A few seconds later Hermione was back on her feet. This time, she pulled out her wand and quickly stunned the Sith. Darth maul fell to the ground unmoving. She bound him and hurried to Anakin.

“You all right?” He asked.

“Yeah. You?” She answered.

“I’m fine. Let’s get him inside and interrogate him.” Anakin said.

Hermione levitated Darth Maul into the castle. They reached Albus’s office and found they weren’t the only ones who had been attacked.

“Is there a conspiracy or something?” Hermione groaned as she saw Lucius bound and stunned as well.

“I guess so Hermione.” Severus sighed.
