Hallie and a mouthful of Malfoy

Hey guys, Thanks to all of you for your fabulous reviews and thank you for bearing with me. Love you all and hopefully see you soon WITH a new chapter lol.

Hallie and a mouthful of Malfoy.

Lucius Malfoy watched quietly as his class meandered in to the classroom, slinging bags onto desks and generally displaying signs of boredom and weariness as they got out their books, parchment and quills.

He wasn’t surprised, the last thing he would want to do last lesson on a Friday afternoon would be to study history, but he felt a lot of the lackadaisical attitude stemmed from the fact that their last teacher had been an absolute bore. He however was determined to make these lessons as interesting as possible, no matter what the circumstances.

“Right,” He said, standing up and moving around his desk to face the class. “I assume that everyone has managed to purchase a book on the ‘Magical History of Britain throughout the ages’ by now?” He held up the leather bound book, his pale, elegant fingers curling lightly around its spine. The class as one nodded, some half heartedly mumbling a yes to accompany their nods.

“Excellent, right now if you would all kindly turn to page four hundred and fifteen then.” He said relishing the sound of crisp, new pages being flipped through as he turned his blackboard over to display the wide array of notes he had copied onto it during lunch.
He turned to find one of the Ravenclaw pupils with their hand in the air, nodding he waited for them to speak.

“Sir, we already studied the 1600 Goblin rebellion in third year.”

“Indeed you did, but this is seventh year, where we will be examining a number of historical periods, but in much greater detail and with a lot more thought. Now, who can tell me why the Goblins would want rebel in the first place?”

A number of hands shot into the air and he picked one at random, “Yes?”

The hand belonged to a quiet looking boy with mousy brown hair and oversized glasses, he spoke so quietly that Lucius has to strain to hear him.

“For a long time Goblins have been regarded by the majority of the wizarding community as inferior, and because they wanted equal rights they rebelled.”

Lucius smiled, “Exactly, and why didn’t the wizarding community respond to these feelings until recently?”

He picked another hand and this time a rather podgy Hufflepuff answered, “Because foolishly a lot of blind sided wizards and witches believed that Goblins were happy with this arrangement and thought the rebellions to be orchestrated by a few random extremists in the Goblin race.”

“Excellent and-“ His flow was interrupted by a single hand waving from the right hand side of the class, “Yes?”

“Were not the majority of these so called ‘blind sided wizards’ from the upper class or the aristocracy…much like yourself?”

Lucius sighed, “Yes Miss Evanshire, a lot of these views were held by the upp-“

“And weren’t these views a lot like the views the supposed pure blood- sorry ‘upper class’ held about muggle borns as well?”

Lucius gritted his teeth, the moment Hallie Evanshire had walked into his classroom she’d caught his attention, and managed to hold it ever since. He didn’t know if it was because she was so blatantly disrespectful towards him or if it was simply because she was so outstandingly good looking that she stood out from the rest. Whatever it was it stirred something very much akin to lust in his veins…although it couldn’t be that…could it? He was homosexual and had been his entire life…

“Yes indeed Miss Evanshire you are right, and evidence of this is shown on the next page of your books where you will see a picture of the-“

“And wouldn’t that make you a hypocrite for teaching this subject sir?”

Lucius carried doggedly and determinedly on, “Where you will see a picture of the Fountain of Magical brethren, that until two years ago stood in the Ministry of Magic, until it was damaged in the battle between Harry Potter and the Dark Lord two years ago.”

It was a moment before he realised what he’d said, but the sight of several of the female members of the class’s shoulders shaking reminded him. He rolled his eyes slightly at the hypocrisy of it. He was willing to bet his last Galleon that hardly any of the girls here knew Harry Potter personally.

Clearing his throat he moved on and manage to conduct the rest of the discussion without any more interference from Miss Devonshire. He almost managed to forget her it seemed until as he dismissed the class he noticed her eyes glaring at him hatefully.

***
The man was INSUFFERABLE!!! How could he stand there and preach about prejudice when he himself had been one of the most prejudiced members of the war! It made Harry blood boil even thinking about it.

Closing his eyes he sighed and with an uncharacteristically male gesture shoved his hands in the small pockets of his skirt. He’d decided to bunk runes in favour of a calming walk around the lake. It was where he always used to go with Ron and Hermione. It was funny how little he missed them really.

Opening his eyes he sauntered on, ducking under a willow tree as he heard footfalls and the swishing folds of a robe coming ominously towards him.

Peering out between the branches he realised it was Snape, hook nosed and sallow on his way towards the greenhouses. Probably looking for some ingredient or other. Shrugging Harry turned away...and froze in utter shock.

Harry Potter
Loved by all
May he R.I.P

His feet seemed to be rooted to the floor, his mouth hanging open in disbelief and he desperately wanted to be sick. ‘I’m looking at my own grave. I killed myself!’

Suddenly it hit him, he could never go back. Never be himself, never reassure Hagrid or Dumbledore. Only two people in the world knew who he was, knew that Harry was not dead. ‘Oh God!’

“You do know he’s not actually in there?”

The sardonic voice of an intruder startled Harry into movement and he turned to see the insolent smile of Draco Malfoy.

“What?” He said, to dazed still to comprehend his enemies meaning.

“The great Harry Potter, he’s not actually in there. This is only a memorial grave until the ministry release his body.”

“Oh” Harry said, looking back at the grave.

“Your not another one of those love sick girls, convinced that they were undeniably in love with the savoir of the wizarding world are you?” Malfoy sneered, crossing his arms
as he leant against the tree.

Harry was reminded all over again why he hated this boy so much, but as Hallie Evanshire he had no quarrel with him as of yet so he had to be nice.

“Err, well no. Having grown up in Portugal I know very little of Harry Potter. My father did an admirable job of making sure I knew all about Death eater’s and their sins though.”

Harry watched as the grey of Malfoy’s eyes went dark.
He sneered inwardly to himself, he’d always known Malfoy was a Death eater.

The other boy seemed to take a minute or two to compose himself before he flashed a winning smile. “Hey, why don’t you come with me and I’ll give you a personal tour of Hogwarts whilst giving you first hand information about wonder boy himself?”

***

It was actually rather interesting, having Malfoy’s account of himself first hand. It was not quite as derogatory as he had first thought it would be. Strangely enough Malfoy had managed to make him feel better, the shock of seeing his own grave and what it meant slowly dissipating.

“So were you friends with him?” Harry asked as they wondered down a small corridor he’d never seen before.

“Oh no, Potter and I were never close. He rejected my hand of friendship in first year you see and we kind of had this rivalry thing going on. I had to admire him though, the things he used to get away with were just unfair.” He laughed and smiled reminiscently.

Harry stared at him in confusion, half smiling at the look on Malfoy’s face. Malfoy glanced up and caught him looking.

“What?”

Harry shook his head.

“Nothing, I’ve... Just heard some not very nice things about you recently and your not really doing them justice.”

Malfoy moved so quickly even Harry’s lightning reflexes didn’t respond quickly enough.

“Who?” He rasped, “Who have you been talking to.”

Harry stared at him in shock and then wrenched his arm away.

“Nobody! Leave me alone!”

And with that he turned and ran away down the corridor. Why did he feel so damn foolish?!

***

Harry pushed his food moodily around his plate. How could he have been so stupid as to think he hadn’t known Malfoy all these years? Half an hour in his presence and he was practically claiming him for a best friend! He shoved his plate away from himself with disgust. What a joke!

“Miss Evanshire?”

What a first class twat he really was! Pea brained, numb skull, damned idiot!

“Miss Evanshire?”

How on earth had he managed to defeat the Dark lord if he couldn’t even-

“Miss Evanshire!!!”

Harry started and twisted round in his seat.

“Oh me, yes, sorry I-” Then his belated brain finally caught up with his mouth and he realised who he was talking too. “Professor Malfoy?”

“Do you think you would be able to clue yourself in long enough to join me in the staff room Miss Evanshire? A word would be appreciated.” the senior Malfoy said with cynically raised brow.

“Of course,” Harry said, lowering his eyes and setting his mouth mutinously as he got up in preparation to follow the Professor out. “Lead on”

Harry didn’t have any indication of what the elder Malfoy may want. He only knew he really wasn’t in the mood. He’d had enough run ins with the Malfoy family to last him a lifetime today.

Coming out of his brooding state long enough to realise Professor Malfoy was holding the door expectantly and waiting for him to step through into the staff room, Harry did so, shutting the door behind him.

“Take a seat.”

Harry ignored this invitation. Choosing to stand and maintain as much control as he could given the circumstances.

“Now the reason I have asked for a word with you,” Lucius said, strolling up and down the carpet in front of the warm glowing fire. “Is to ask you to tone down your unsavoury remarks in my lessons.”

Clasping his hands behind his back he carried doggedly on, trying to persuade himself that there was no way he could smell her perfume from where he was. It was so sweet though, it got right up his nostrils and- “Much as I understand your reasons for mistrusting me, the majority of the student body has come to accept me and if my 7th year classes are to continue smoothly you need to do the same...damnit are you wearing perfume?”

The girls eyes widened and Lucius heartily wished he could retract the words that had flowed so uncontrollably from him...why was this happening to him? He felt like an erstwhile school boy!

“I...well I yes I am but what...?”

The girl seemed flustered and Lucius watched in absolute fascination as her cheeks went pink.

Turning he waved her words away. “I’m particularly sensitive to artificial fragrances.” He lied smoothly. “Now please, do we have an understanding?”

Harry was very tempted to tell him where he could go and stick his understanding but with a peculiar spark of uncharacteristic vengeance he thought of a better idea. He could actually stand to gain from this if he played his cards right. Maybe less homework or something.

“You want me to stop making unsavoury comments?” He asked slowly.

“Yes.”

“And what do I get in return?”

Lucius gaped at her, cheeky little- “You don’t get anything but a peaceful lesson in return!”

Harry pretended to ponder this for a moment. “Hmm, nope no good.”

“Look you are in no position to argue with me! I am your Prof-”

Harry gazed calmly at him, cutting him off with an insolent. “Then why did you bother asking me in the first place?”

Lucius felt like stamping his foot he was becoming so irate. Marching towards the girl he shook a finger at her.

“Now don’t be so damned contrary, if you were my child I’d have a good mind to turn you over my knee!”

Harry smiled, “Would you?”

Whether it was sheer anger, a need to punish the girl or a distinctly uncomfortable tingling in his trousers due to her comment, Lucius would never know but something drove him to smash his lips down upon the girls so temptingly soft, plush, vulnerable...

But barely had their mouths made contact before the sound of the staff room door being opened intruded and Lucius was on the other side of the room from his student faster than you could say ‘Are you kissing a student.’

Trying not to look at the girl he now knew could arouse him like no other woman had, he simply said

“That will be all.”

***

How could he have done such down right illogical, stupid hair brained, irresponsible...thing?!

He should of brought her to his office, at least then he wouldn’t have to worry if McGonnagol had seen...but then if she hadn’t come in...what would have happened?

Lucius paced his office frustrated, before stopping and wiping a hand down his face.

This was supposed to be a fresh start, a verification of the clearing of the Malfoy name. He wasn’t about to jeopardise that for a student!!! A GIRL...woman? No less!

No, no he would put what happened behind him. A fresh start this was meant to be and a fresh start it damn well would be. And he would start by grading his papers like a professional teacher would.

Yes he thought as he sat down heavily in his chair and pulled a stack of papers towards him, he’d forget it. It never happened.

So why did he still feel so...emotional?
